I was just thinking about what we would do at games, and I thought I'd throw a few ideas out there:

    1. Just a basic chant:
A few people go: A-C! The rest: S-T-L!
    Then keep repeating: A-C! S-T-L!
    A-C! S-T-L!

    2. Start with a slow clap, and get progressively faster. Once the clap starts getting faster, everybody goes "OOOOOOOOOOOO" (round O).
Optional: it can be done right before something happens, like the first touch or a PK, and when the foot touches the ball or the ball reaches the goal/goalie, we end with a stomp or one loud clap. Otherwise, we can just let it trail off.

    3. Dunno how family friendly we want to be, but this is more tame than stuff they have in Europe. This uses the opponent's name (or city), however it fits best, in a taunting fashion:
    Nick-Name...Nick-Name...YOU SUCK!

This can go on for a few times, though probably good to keep the number down to a minimum to have a better effect.
Of course, all in good fun.

When we win a game -
To the chorus melody of "I Fought the Law" by The Clash:
You fought The Lou and the
    Lou won
You fought The Lou and the
    Lou won

Walkin' in a Cooper Wonderland (to the melody of Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland):
    There's only one Jeff Cooper
    There's only one Jeff Cooper
    We're walkin' along,
    Singin' our song
    Walkin' in a Cooper Wonderland

A little early to talk chants IMO, but I do like your thinking. Keep it up!

Please, I beg of you, please avoid the term "The Lou".
I despise its application to our beloved city.

I hate thinking of our city as a place to take a piss.
I know it's spelled differently, but they are homonyms.

Here one idea, needs a little refining so if you have ideas or more verses please add.

    To Ants Go Marching Down

Our AC team just scored again (hoorah, hoorah)
Our AC team just scored again (hoorah, hoorah)
Our AC team just scored again, better watch out we'll do it again.
Cause the AC came to play, so get out of the way.
(BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM)

AC came to win this game (hoorah, hoorah)
AC came to make you pay (hoorah, hoorah)
AC came to win this game, you better run and hide in shame
Cause the AC came to play, so get out of the way.
(BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM)

The Brigade came to watch them play (hoorah, hoorah)
The Brigade came to scream their name (AC, AC)
The Brigade came to watch them play, to clap and scream and to call you names.
Cause the AC came to play, so get out of the way.
(BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM, BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM)

It has potential for many different verses

I can understand the thought here, but so many affectionately refer to STL as The Lou. I think it works well for the song; it's simple and anthemic.

I think you mean homophone. (Ugh, the school year is getting to me, sorry SB.)

We could modify the Kings of Leon song "Someone Like You" to

"We scored on you ooooh oh ooooh oh"

I just got another one for if we score, to the tune of "You Just Got Slapped" from "How I Met Your Mother" (song starts at 0:41): [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9psIGxKxOrc"]YouTube- You just got slapped ![/ame]

    What is this feeling?
That's put you in your place
    Hot red burning all over
    Your face

You feel the blood rush to your cheeks
Tears start to fill your eyes
Your lips they're trembling but you can't speak
    You're trying
    Oh you're trying
    Not to cry

You just got scored on (Oh-oh)
    By St. Louis my friend
You just got scored on (Oh oh oh oh oh)
    Yes that really just happened

    Well everybody saw it (HAH!)
    Everybody burst into song
    'Cause it was awesome
The way that you just got
    Scored on

First two verses optional if you think song is too long, main part bolded

NO, while there are worse things you could say, I'm never for chanting swear words. It's one thing if there's a bad call and everyone is cursing, because you can't make out what anyone else is saying and it just comes across as noise. And if all your chanting is "you suck" or "f u" or whatever, it just comes across as lazy and unimaginative.

    1. Last time I checked, suck wasn't a swear word.
    2. I said "all in good fun". It's not meant to be construed as an insult.
    3. I'm only throwing ideas out there, and I used this one because it was used at my high school games that I played in, especially against the bigger rivals, and thus a starting off point, not necessarily something that will be used, or if so, when we run out of chants. If you want to criticize lazy and unimaginative, build upon it or put out your ideas.

Ahaha, sounds like you went to Central.

I would like to avoid using the YOU SUCK chant though, since it really does look unimaginative. Good brainstorming though.

I like the idea of chanting something local, like that tune that they play on KMOX or whatever before blues games. I can't remember what it's called, not The St. Louis Blues, but the other thing they play. Anyway, that would be neat to get a crowd chanting "ooooh" style, and repeating.

I was wrong. The tune I am thinking of actually is the lead-in to "The St. Louis Blues".

Still think it would be cool to chant.
