I always wore a hemp thing around my wrist that I girl I liked made for me. I wasn't able to wear it after I injured that wrist because it was to swollen to fit around it and I've lost it since. :(

I dress from bottom to top, right to left, too.

everybody does their ish differently, i used to listen to something loud and bassy to get me going, but i found to listen to something chillin' is just as good. I don't want to be so pumped up i can't think straight, and only think fast(er) and hard(er) (pardon the sexual inneuendo haha :D)... it makes me impatient

Please tell me you don't do them at the same time.

My superstition is different from the rest of you. I actually purposely hold off on my dumps before games. For whatever reason, I have better games when I don't unload before the game. And believe me, it ain't always easy.

Tape my ankles, find some fault with the taping (it's wrapped too tight, it goes counter clockwise, anything, it doesn't have to be logical) and then re-tape my ankles.

The only times (ran out of tape one time, ran out of time the other) I haven't done this I wound up injured, broken ankle once and the other time 10 stitches.

    That's what I love about Big Soccer - it's so educational! :p

The strunze is always nice, if it's necessary, but turning to other subjects...

I can't imagine playing loaded, I'm bad enough as it is. Save the beer and drugs for other sports like volleyball and softball (where you can actually hold a beer in your hand as you play). However, if we are going to a DC United game right after my game, I may actually be icing down the brewskis for the tailgate an hour before I play!

Normally, I just try to relax and get some rest. Typically, I will have coached one kid's game and watched the other kid's game, maybe arrived extra early to line the field. So I'll have a granola bar and some raisins, try to rehydrate.

As for music, you may have figured out I'm a bit of a geezer, so I usually go for "classic rock" like Steely Dan. Sometimes I'll listen to the blues show on public radio. The Saturday DJ plays great stuff with dirty lyrics like "Baby, Meet Me With Your Black Drawers On" or "Stoop Down Baby, Let Your Daddy See." (After the game, the Who full blast is good.)

No clothing rituals, but after I'm dressed I take a leak in the woods for good luck.

the night before a game ill toke up, eat some pasta, and drink water. then ill watch a goals video and then meditate and fall asleep. on game day i also take a *#*#*#*# at least 2 hours before the game, drink a lil bit of water and gatorade, eat a box of mike n ikes and listen to a cd (the fungus amungus- incubus) while warming up. ill have an intense warm up and with 10 mins before the game i try and get rid of all the intensity i built up by having some fun by making jokes and doing a lil bit of dancing to get into a comfortable mind set. i dont put my jersey and shingaurds on til the last second possible. i dont know why its just one of those things.

Other than smoking some nature's finest before the game i also like to get a word in with the oppositions goalkeeper(usually happens when i do smoke something before a match). I dont say much.. just a simple "hello" or "how's the girlfriend doing?" works just fine. I also like listening to Thursday if i wanna get pumped up or some Marley if i feel the need to be relaxed.

For the record, it's called "Song 2" not "woo hoo" but it's still a good song. I digress.
The night before I eat pasta and drink a lot of water, and try to go to sleep early (especially since most of my club matches require getting up by 6:30.) Also it helps me mentally if I pray a bit for a safe journey to the match, and strong legs when I get there. I wake up in the morning and usually eat cereal and a banana, though for me a bagel and banana is best.
I completely zone out on the ride to my game, focusing only on the game, or nothing at all but relaxing. Sometime before the game I try and take a dump-it's good luck if I do.
Depending on my mood I either listen to some heavy alternative that gets me pissed, or some mellow music that gets me into a "zen soccer state" If it's for school I don't listen to anything cause our coach is stupid and thinks listening to music on the bus will make us play badly.
I always drink a gatorade 30 minutes before warmup, and sometimes eat a granola bar or banana.
I put on my gear and always take a few back and forths across the field and then stretch as long as the coaches will let us-and then some. I get into some keep-away with the group getting progressively faster after starting at a totally half-ass pace. In the last ten minutes or so before game I pair off with someone and do long balls and maybe take some shots.
Once I get on the field, I do some last minute stretching (I'm paranoid cause i suffered a lot of injuries a few years back) and get psyched up with my keeper and fellow defenders. Then I say a quick (Alan) Shepard's prayer-"Dear Lord, please help me not to f-ck up"
Then I go wide or compact depending on who has the ball, chill out, and wait to break some people.

I am abnormal I guess. Due to previous injuries I always eat small amount of pasta 4 hours before a game and drink a gallon of water within 24 hours of the game. An hour before the game I am listening to "Fight Music" by D-12 and doing some Brazillian warm-ups before stretching and touch drills. It became a ritual for me at least and if I have any time to look around before the game I usually try and stare at the opposing team to get pissed.

I wasn't really a superstitious person until I saved two PK's in a tournament match after listening to Prodigy's "Firestarter" and smoking a cigar pre-match.

As a result, that's been my pre-match discipline ever since.

Instead of a short answer, here's a detailed countdown!

60 minutes to gametime- Arrive in dressing room.
55 minutes- Start a pre warm-up warm-up (if that makes sense!)
50 minutes- Put shirt, shorts and socks on, but NEVER boots, as I don't want to get fully dressed too early.

45 minutes- Enjoy a good bit of nice, relaxed pre-game banter!

30 minutes- Start our 15 minute warm up. Have music PUMPING loudly from the CD player, and me and the rest of the girls stretch, jump around and enjoy the warm-up!

15 minutes- Sit down, and begin mentally preparing! This is the bit I hate, because pre-game nerves begin here. Everyone sits around, quietly preparing themselves, but they can hear the crowd (we usually get about 200 spectators) and that makes everyone anxious and nervous. We all have our nervous pre-game habits. I fidget a lot, and can't keep still, feet tapping, smoothing out my shirt etc. However, there's one member of the team spends those last few minutes enjoying a quick nap!!!

10 minutes- Have to get off the bench-nerves can't stand sitting down!!!! Pace up and down dressing room (and it's a small dressing room!!) Can't relax at all!

5 minutes- At last, put boots on!

And, then, FINALLY, just when I can't stand the waiting A SECOND longer, referee knocks on door, we come out of the changing room-and enjoy the game!
