Now that the groups have been drawn what are your predictions for this group.

The winner of this group will play the second place team of the group of death (Brazil, Portugal, Ivory Coast and North Korea). The second place team in Group H will play the winner of Group G.

I think the Swiss will get out of this group with the Spaniards. Not necessarily with the Spaniards on top.

Spain 1st and Chile 2nd is where I'd put my money, but obviously Switzerland have a chance too. Honduras looks like the weakest in this group.

i think the guys on espn -- and perhaps most media outlets -- treat this group too lightly.

spain i think will struggle against a team like switzerland. the swiss were a disappointment in euro08, but two years later, i think they are looking much better. they have the ability to frustrate the spanish, especially since the spanish play a particular style that can struggle against teams like the swiss.

and having dealt with south american qualifiers, chile are a pretty good team -- i would probably rate them on par with uruguay, even though the chileans finished ahead -- they have a great midfield, athough maldonado's injury in the d-mid is huge.

i dont really know enough about honduras so i cant comment on them.

Well, although Maldonado is a great player he wasn't part of the qualifying process. Reggina's Carlos Carmona has been our battle horse in the middle throughout the qualifying campaign.

This is a tough draw for the Swiss. They can probably handle Spain to a draw, but Chile is the loose cannon on deck.
Spain v Chile might be a very intriguing game, especially as the opener. Spain's habit of underachieving, could hurt them early.

We all know Spain is favoured, but Chile is a popular pick for the surprise team of the tournament.
To me. the Swiss are the most underrated team of the 32, and 2 of the opponents are perfect for their game. The Swiss's problem might come in underrating Honduras in the first game.
This group might be better than first appearance.

    1 Switzerland
    2 Chile

I agree that the group will be better than it first appears, but I think its unwise to judge this current Spain team by the transgressions of former Spanish teams. This is probably the most talented team in the entire tournament. You aren't going to find a better striking duo than David Villa and Fernando Torres. And who's better in the park than Xavi and Inestia? Casillas is one of the 3 best keepers in the world and they have a great leader in Puyol. Then you have the likes of the fabulous Fabregas coming off the bench. Spain has enough talent to become the FIRST European team to win a WC that is not taking place in Europe! Not even Italy, who have won the second most WCs all-time, have been able to break that record.

Spain is my second favorite team in the world cup. They will win all 3 games.;) And, they will win pretty much any game they play that is not against Mexico.:D Mark my words.

Spain won the Euro two years ago. They now know how to win the major championship. That's a big plus for them.

I agree that right now and over the past few years nobody has played better than Spain. They are loaded with talent, and play the most beautiful game, together. But six months from now?????

I don't know why I say it, but I think the Swiss have an upset in them, and that Spain will be the unfortunate victim. (Maybe its all those caves in the mountains that hide weapons, or those banks that hide money, or those army knives that hide spoons, or those clocks that hide birds. I never bet against the Swiss.)

Spain will probably advance. Most people expect them to advance and I do too.

Let's not forget that Switzerland qualified from the easiest European group which also had Israel,Greece and Latvia.

On the other hand,Chile qualified from CONMEBOL and were pretty impressive overall. They hadn't beaten Argentina in nearly forty years or so and they had never scored away to Brazil until last time around where they score 2 in 4-2 loss, defeated Colombia in Colombia(when the match still mattered to the latter!) and also defeated Paraguay at the Defensores Del Chaco. This Chilean team has talent, correct me if I'm wrong but it looks to me that this version of the team is even better than the one at France'98.Alexis Sanchez,Gary Medel,Humberto Suazo,Arturo Vidal,Luis Jimenez...They're not better than Spain on paper at the moment, but they are better than Switzerland and Honduras...Chile could really do some damage come this June.

I don't give Honduras much of a chance, one of their biggest threats,David Suazo, has had little playing time with Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho so this can't be good for them.Other than that they have Carlos Pavon who's getting upthere in age.Again correct me if I'm wrong but this Honduran team looks kinda old.Anyway,I don't see how they can advance.

The Swiss will fail again they are like Poland sometimes good in qualification but horrible when you get there. For me its Spain and Chile. What I am looking forward to is the Brazil/Portugal (Ivory Coast outside bet no matter what all the so called experts saying Brazil and Ivory Coast will progress) game versus Spain. Portugal versus Brazil/Spain, then Italy and then maybe Holland/Arg. The bottom half of the draw is immense!!!!

While we didn't advance out of Euro 2004 & 2008 group play we did advance in Germany 2006. We are far from being world beaters but I do think we can challenge for the second spot in this group.

I think the Second place is very up for grabs in this group, I think it might even come down to who losses by less to Spain.

They also have Wilson Palacios, Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas. The team has a nice mix of veterans and young players.
