If that's the case, then let's just use Bilardo. He's a master tactician and already has taken Argentina to two WC finals. Why even bother going outside of the country?

What would probably do MUCH better for Diego, would be to get him a communications coach. Someone that can truly help him get his message across.

Well that's the whole point no? Maradona and Bilardo aren't getting along. So far I haven't seen any of Bilardo in the way the team has played. I'm pretty sure he hasn't had a say in anything.

Re: Argentine NT News, Stats, Players 2009-2010

I think Guus Hiddink is a very good coach but I've seen nothing to indicate he's would be the answer. Sure he'll bring tactics but so would virtually every coach but Diego. Also Hiddink really hasn't accomplished that much internationally either so I don't see where the blind confidence comes from that some seem to have. With Holland which was a tremendous squad, he won nothing. The same Russian team he took the semis of the UCL, he couldn't get to the World Cup. He did okay with South Korea, nothing earth shattering since they were pretty much at home. Australia was good I'll concede that.

Bianchi in contrast has never coached in the International level by choice. His reasons were the same as Hiddinks would be for turning the job down. Some coaches just don't want meddling federations. Grondona would have too much influence which neither coach could tolerate. I'd give Bianchi the nod by virtue of being a five time South American Coach of the Year and a two time World Coach of the Year. The man can coach Argentines plain and simple.

As for the poster that used Bianchi's time at Madrid against him, look at the tenure of the other big name coaches that have been there. Not a lot of stability at that club.

Ricardo Gareca is also a good tactician.

I actually think that you are wrong. Bilardo's hand was seen ever so clearly in the WCQ's. With Diego and Bilardo, everything is smoke and mirrors, I wouldn't be surprised if their fight is nothing but a smoke screen.

More or less, he's still learning, he has some lacks. The match against Liga in the Sudamericana made it clear in my opinion.

Little off topic but Dominguez from Rubin Khazan is needed on the NT! i think he brings some experience and playmaking skills that are currently lacking. Besides that he can finish and take some shots outside the box

Anyone have any information about the rumour that Argentina (local players) will play against New Zealand on 20 December in Mendoza or Mar Del Plata?

Looks like it was just that, a rumour. I wonder if the match against the Czech Republic is going to be the same.

Nope the only match that will be played in December will be on 22nd against Catalonia.

According FIFA's sanction Maradona cannot attend the World Cup's draw. AFA may appeal the sanction though it may not be in time since only 10 days left before the draw. This would be on the least the third World Cup in a row the coach of Argentina doesn't attend the draw because Bielsa and Pekerman didn't attend for 2002 and 2006 respectively, however i don't remember if Passarella attended the draw for France '98, though in the cases of Bielsa and Pekerman they didn't intend to attend in first place.

Yes he was very impressive last two years. By the way, isn't this guy the same who was injured against France on WC under 21 in Argentina?

Re: Argentine NT News, Stats, Players 2009-2010

    Hi All,

Just was wondering what will be our best Team for the world cup.

    GoalKeepers
    1. Romero ( Best Keeper we have got, should be a starter)
    2. Anjudar (Good Back Up)
    3. Carrizo (Not good on crosses, has to improve a lot)

    BackUp
1.Franco (His is still in A.Madrid) Looked impressive , havent heard from him of late.
    2.Cejas
    3.Pato

With the kind of the goalies we have got Romerio looks like the only quality keeper we have of right now. Can we also track the performances of the other keepers listed here. So that we can see who is in good form.

    Defenders
    1. Samuel +(Wall, rock solid, good header) - (Slow, can concede penalites) will be def on my team
    2. Demichelis(, good tackler,Solid) -(Slow) - Def on plane to WC
    3. Garay + (Good in set pices, good tackler) - Should on plane to WC, he is good on Set pices,
    4. Gonzalo Rodriguez + (Fast, nice tackles) - Getting Carded often, seems like his form is dipped of late. One of the best right backs, should be in plane for WC
    5. Insua- Impressive display of late, looks promising in attack also, poor in heading and can sometimes be caught out of position
    6. Zanetti - Good def and can play the role of def libero just as Sorin played for us last WC. But he is old and he was ripped of last night. But should be on his way to his last WC
    7. Monzon- Solid can be good back up has he can play in various positions
    8. Pareja- Solid then Monzon bt is injury prone
    9. Otamendi- Still not impressed me much, dont deserve WC spot but hope he improves his form
10.Papa- Should be called in when some one is injured
11.Fazio- Tall and has good header but his injury prone
    12. Heinze- Plays his heart out but he his past his prime and will surely leak goals if he is started. I think he should go only if some one is injured
    13. Cata Diaz- Solid but again is too old.
    14. Ansaldi- Shud be starter, looks good, has impressed me of late
    15. Zabaleta- Think he is overrated, hasnt impressed me so far.
    16. Coloccini- Def no
    17. Gaby Milito- If Fit can be looked into.

So i think the follow players has got good chances.

    1. Samuel
    2. Demichelis
    3. Zanetti
    4. Garay
    5. Gonzalo
    6. Monzon
    7. Pareja
    8. Ansaldi
    9. Insua

I think 7 of these 9 players shd go to the WC.

    Midfielders

    1. Mascherano ( Yes, no comments)
    2. Cambiasso ( Can be good or very average, he can at best be a CM not DM)
    3. Banega ( I think of what i have seen him has matured a lot and surely should start in the NT no doubts he is the answer to the puzzle)
    4. Biglia ( Good player but unfortunaely no one has looked at him, consistent always get rating of 7) but will not go to SA 2010 but can be a backup in case of injury
    5. Bolatti ( Good but i thini Baenga has more potenial then him)
    6. Riquelme(Def should go the WC, he can control the game and alwasy a great threat in Set Pieces, he controls the game so well, he is a slower Iniesta, we really need him, there is no one to replace Riquelme)
    7. Aimar( Can complement Riquelme very well, i would like to see Riquelme-Aimar combo in the midfiled)
    8. Veron( Should go if Riquelme doenst but he is not so dangerous in set pices and cannot provide the killer pass like wat Riquelme provides)
    9. D' Alessandro( Has talent i will personally like him to be in wc, he is fast good in set pices and can really combine well with Messi and Co, if riquelme is not going to the WC, i think Alessandro should be there, he can be the Replacement for Riquelme)
    10. Maxi Morlez ( really his having good season, but is too short and fragile and hasnt played in europe)
    11. Piatti( Looked Good but should be a backup)
    12. Lucho ( But never performs for NT)
    13. Pastore ( should see how he performs for Palermo this season)

    1.Mascherano
    2.Banega
    3.Riquelme
    4.Aimar
    5.D'Alessandro
    6.Cambiasso

    Wingers

    1. Messi ( No comments worlds best player)
    2. Di Maria ( Will be one of the gr8 player)
    3. Maxi (His form will play a big factor to be in WC)
    4. Perotti ( gr8 potenial but surely shouldgo to wc)
    5. Delgado ( having a good season with Lyon, can be outsider)
    6. Jonas ( yes for his work rate but should be starter, but can also good in defence)
    7. Leto ( tall and fast, outisder)
    8. Defederico( Need to keep tab of him)

    Forwards

    1. Aguero ( should go to WC)
    2. Saviola *- Of late is playing really well, always plays well for NT, should go to WC
    3. Milito - he is the best poacher playing for argentina right now so should go
    4. Lisandro- should go if Higuia is injured
    5. Higuain- should go for WC
    6. Zarate- Should go, he is one of hte few players(ARG) who can score from outsid the box and also his good in set pieces
    7. Tevez - for his workrate should go
    8. Lavessi - should be a back up but really good player will prefer him in the team
    9. Dominguez - Impressive but should compete with Milito and Higuian.
    10. Palermo

Guys the formation i would like to see is

    against defensive minded team

    Romero

    Garay Samuel Ansaldi

    Mascherano

    Aimar Riquelme

    Messi Di Maria

    Saviola/Aguero

    Zarate/Milito

    Against Good Teams

Serious question Sinner. What do think it would take to see England or any other European side to play a friendly in South America? I understand arguments for both sides but was interested in your insight.

What's it going to take for European teams to return to South America to play competitive matches?

i know portugal went to play in brazil last year and got whipped 6-2. i suppose these mighty European teams are afraid of that happening to them.

a european team has never won a world cup outside of europe. the next two world cups will be outside of europe. you would think they will want to adapt.

does argentina get a bigger payday for playing in europe though? i suspect that may have something to do with it? even though most of players play in europe and it is convenient during the season, it would make sense for everyone before a world cup

We played a game in Qatar vs. Brazil and about 15 players pulled out of our squad.
Most of them played the next league game. Any friendly that involves a long flight means we get messed around by the clubs with pull outs. We havent been to South America since the 80s.

This game is just a rumour ,but the rumours are usually true.
Probably in Wembley or maybe neutral in Europe.

Thanks Sinner. I guess Qatar is a pretty long flight in it's own right. I'm sure your FA received a fat check from somebody in the Gulf States. It would be fun to have you another top European side pay a visit.
