The thing to remember with the NSCAA is that by its own rule, it must have equal regional representation in its polls and its All America teams.

If the 10 best teams in the coutry were all in, say, New England, they still wouldn't be ranked 1-10 in the NSCAA's poll because the other seven regions need to be represented equally.

Also, if, hypothetically, the 11 best players are in California, they all aren't going to be All-Americans as the other seven regions need to be represented.

Certainly Gregorio, and UCSB's Memo Arzate had seasons worthy of being All Americans. They would certainly seem more worthy of the award than Damien Pottinger or Thomas McMenemy. In the back, Seth Stammler and David Wagenfuhr both had strong years for good teams with great defenses and had a better case than Jeff Laurentowicz. And, in goal, I'm sure there were more worthy choices than Andrew Nucifora like Chris Sawyer or Martin Hutton.

But, that's how it is with the NSCAA and as long as you accept that their structure will have flaws like this and take the awards accordingly, it isn't as annoying.

And, yes, Gregorio will have the last laugh when he is a high draft pick or playing in Europe.

BTW, I'm usually not a big fan of CollegeSoccerNews.com but I thought their All-American team was far more indicative of who had the better years. Here's a link to it.

For those that click on the NSCAA link, here's the full list of their AA team.

I thought Tighe Dombrowski of UWM deserved to be included somewhere in the three teams...very solid all around player...both sides of the ball...

    always the forwards

Every team should start four forwards. My bias is with UMD who had arguably the best defense in the country and has no reps. Unfortunately the above selections are very typical, let's see how many make it beyond collge when the professionals pick the real players.

Had he been POY in his own league, he probably would have. As it stands, the Great Lakes Region only got 5 players in. 1 on the 1st Team, none on the 2nd Team, and 4 on the 3rd Team.

    Terp fan bias

Are u saying the "D" had no reps or the Terps had no reps? I will assume u can see the 2 1st team Terps. Your argument should be that Sumed was selected over a Terp defender, however, who? Certainly not Goodsen? Do you think Sumed should have been selected with a mediocre year and nondescript college cup? Nice to see you acknowledge your bias finally. Maybe you won't make "punk of the year". I will start a thread for "College and amateur" poster awards. Good Luck.
