Oh for fcuk's sake I had to look at those pictures twice and even three times to see where they fell. I'm hoping Sega's name really isn't part of that lower half... Though I'm not surprised if it's true.
I'm baffled by Columbus wanting to get rid of their best player's who happens to be one of the best players in the league. I'm assuming this has more to do with being cheapskates than anything else considering they can't draw and couldn't even sell out their all important playoff game.
That could all be part of the decision process. They invest in the guy, then still don't see a return. Simple stuff. They can be mediocre or also runs like they've always been and make the same money. I actually love that theory: Cowtown mouthbreathers to blame. I'm stickin with it.
I can still see it on both, but fyi, it's a pic of Rolfe tapping a photo to his name that appears on the door of former Fire players and Sega's name is right underneath Rolfe's. The names on the door that can be seen in the pic include: Paul Ziemba Nick Noble Bakary Soumare Chris Rolfe Gonzalo Segares
With cap space and a DP slot available, I would also give Schelotto what he needs. And if Hamlett sticks around, he can actually play the role that Blanco was always stuck into.
According to Ives yesterday: http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2009/11/mls-coaching-carousel-ready-to-spin.html#more In discussing the Fire's coaching situation, Ives states, "Another potential idea? How about former Fire head coach Dave Sarachan. Current Fire owner Andrew Hauptman wasn't the owner when Sarachan was fired mid-way through the 2007 season and one look at Sarachan's resume may be enough to tell Hauptman that he should give Sarachan another chance with the Fire." Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I would rather have Hamlett for another 3 years than another minute of Dave the Short.
Dave's resume tells me he's a solid assistant coach. Kinda like Denis. I don't want Dave or Denis. If we're going to wade into a rebuilding phase, let's rebuild with proper coaching search. I think Andrew already knows what we get when we try to do it on the cheap. Nothing personal against Denis, I just want to see something different for my money. I've spent the last two years of my money for two really disappointing years of frustration and not winning anything.
I think that Dave could have done at least as good (or bad, if you will) as either Denis or Osorio, but that's kinda silly considering no Osorio = no Conde. Give him credit, though, he knew where to play Rolfe.
What we need for next year is an attacking mid and a striker, I think Baggio can handle CDM duties, our defense will need someone fresh from the draft, hopefully we land someone who is good, I think we are set on the wings. We will have fairly big turnover but because of our depth, if Frank fills in those 3 holes with quality players I think we'll be in the hunt again next year. If Denis gets canned, whoever our coach is I feel we are going to see a 3-5-2. I also think McBride and Nyarko can be an effective pairing. --------Busch-------- --Ward--CJ---Dasan--- -------Baggio (or Conde if he stays)---- Mapp---Thorrington/Baggio/Lowry---Pappa ----------CAM/DP?------------- ----Nyarko--McBride?/DP?---
Why would you want to DP Pawel Brozek? The guy cannot even force a spot on the NT. Granted he scored a lot of goals last year, but he is notorious for missing sitters, that would not sit well with fans who remember a forward named Chad. Only a couple of Polish guys would be worth a DP, Brozek, in my view, would not be one of them.
You do mean "Cantona," right? I agree that the coach HAS TO be signed before anything else can happen. I'd HOPE that Klopas has the brains to at least interview Spencer, Soehn, and Zambrano. I'd also hope that he'd call BOTH Jurgen Klinsmann and Martin Vasquez, and check into their availability/interest. I don't know if either are a possibility, as I think Vasquez is earmarked for chicas, and the FIRE aren't quite what Klinsmann is looking for in a position. For me, these 5 names would be the only US-based coaching prospects I'd consider, though I'd also hope that some names from abroad might be looked at as well. Oh, and unlike the stupid limey piece of shit who screwed up the LAST coaching search, actually have your interviewees sign a "non-disclosure" agreement, so that the club's cheapness doesn't become publickly displayed. [See Spencer, J in the last go-around for more details...]
I've long since come to terms with that fact the Ives Galarcep is a complete and utter moron... but Sarachan? Really, Ives? Is this "suicide by Fire fan beating me to death with lead pipe"? There are easier less painful ways to do it Ives.
