I love your signature, it is so true. I still miss the NFL, I loved football, too bad the league cease to exist after the Raiders returned to Oakland and the Rams moved to S.L.
Regarding the referee - I would prefer Prus or Salazar, they are more refined than Vaughn. It's quite possible that tomorrow's game will depend on late PK or red card, Prus or Salazar can handle it in much more convincing manner than Vaughn.
Vaughn is just inconsistent in how he calls games. It's clear that the refs have generally "let 'em play" in the playoffs but it takes a good official to let 'em play without letting it get out of control - I was surprised Vaughn had given out so many cards this year because he doesn't use them very effectively. Prus screwed us horribly 3 seasons ago at the HDC vs. Chivas but since them I've come around to see him as one of the better refs, IMO. Toledo and Vaughn seem to make themselves part of the action, like fans come to watch them officiate.
Result of this game is very important to MLS, maybe a reason they've selected Vaughn is his penchant for cards. If Houston will be playing like they never got a message - ref will chill them out by couple yellows or red to Clark.
It will certainly be the LAG gameplan. Keep the game tied, then rely upon an undeserved penalty in the second half to award the game to the Galaxy. Houston will have to keep the ball out of the penalty box .....
just a reminder. Arrive early for good seats upstairs for the true HD experience. It's Fiesta Friday at Mezzanine, which means: $3 Mexican Beers (choose from 8!) & House Ritas (w/ Pepe Lopez & Cointreau) $5 Mezzy Nachos (w/ Queso & homemade Hornitos tequila Chili)
You're right this is important to MLS, which is why many of forsee an NBA-style screwjob on the officiating. Maybe Vaughn came the cheapest. I kid, but don't think these guys go out to the center not knowing what the desired outcome is.
if the Dynamo make their chances count it won't matter who the Center is...bury your chances tonight Orange!
Screw the gals. We will win tonight. Screw the refs. They won't be able to nullify all our goals. We will play smart and not allow the refs to dictate the result. Screw the league, we will have the Scudetto next year. we will have our 5th different jersey. I love spending $120 on a jersey every year.
Good luck to the fire as well. I have a brother who lives in Chicago and I've watched a few of their games on TV. Pappa is a damn good player. I'd love to see a Chicago v Houston finale.
That's what I've been stressin', Chicago vs Houston in the Cup Final as we wreck MLS's wet dream scenario of Spice Boy and Landy Cakes in their hour of glory. Chicago has an older Blanco, Houston has a young Landin. This is great for ESPN Deportes. It has traction. McHead vs McAloha, Rico vs Pappa, Stuie getting to a Cup Final the year his daddy passed away. The story lines are there for Chicago vs Houston and we get to crap on L.A. AEG! To make no mention t's Houston's personality to not be liked anyway, in any of the sports leagues. Akeem used to get prison raped but no calls yet if you breathed on Karl Malone wrong that fool went to the line...yet we still won! So same thing 15 years on as Ching will have to have his head opened up for a freekick but Donovan will get a Mullan love tap and make a meal of it for Vaughn. Becks to get a chance to dead ball their way into the Final.
10 hours to go. I am going to see a band "The Swell Season" at Warehouse live at 8, leaving there at 9:45 and will be at the Mezz at 10 on the dot. GO DYNAMO!
Salazar was a ref for our second leg against Chicas USA, so he can't officiate tonight's game, Prus - i don't know why MLS didn't pick up him.
Chronicle gave front page of the sports section today to the Dynamo. Check out Bernardo Falas' predictions here http://www.chron.com/sports/soccer/
