I just called into a Houston radio show to speak with Brian Ching and Stu Holden and asked Stu what I had to do to get him in a NYRB jersey next season....his answer: "Make me some money!" Safe to say.......I don't think he'll be in RBA next season. There are probably several very good 40 year old Columbians out of work that should probably be making the big bucks.
I think he's leaving MLS no matter what happens. Holding a Brittish Passport makes his transition to Europe easier than most "Yanks" that make the move.
Will be a great adquisicion for the CAP limit 325/500 wherever is coming to be next year, all ways if he sign for no less than three years, because is for sure he will command in couple of year 5, 10 or more million of dollars for his transfer.... But the question is: ¿Why will Houston let him go?....
He is out of contract. If he wants more money then they are willing to pay, they might trade his rights.
Isn't he the dude that stomped on Carlos Johnson's foot, breaking it? And ref didn't even call him for a foul. It's sad to think that some of our own fans want this piece of ---- on our team. http://redbulls.theoffside.com/play...ohnson-undergoes-successful-foot-surgery.html
Holden makes like 50K a year in MLS and would blow seman all over his leg to get an 250K contract here. That said his balls would explode if he could hook up with a large euro outfit making a million.
try 33K. He might stay if he thinks it's going to help his WC chances. He wouldn't leave Houston though-he's a real celebrity around here. Hometown boy does good.
3 out of 4 years, I would say he is 100% gone to Europe - particularly since he was born in Scotland. Work permit is not an issue for him. He can go anywhere in the European Union tomorrow. BUT.... he is a fringe member of the national team in a World Cup year. He might be worried that leaving and riding the pine all spring long could jeopardize his chances to make the final 23 for the world cup. Of course, even if he feels that way he's probably most likely to just stick with Houston. While i don't think it's likely he plays for another MLS team, I can see how it's conceivable. Houston might look to move him knowing he's not long for his league. Another team might be willing to give up something for him because he would be a big help short-term, and they could cash in on a transfer fee in the future (in theory). So again. Unlikely? yeah. Impossible? No, definitely not.
Yeah, I think he's going as well. But, I think he's going once he's figured out his position on the National team, not anytime sooner.
I concur with those who posit that he'll want to STAY in MLS in an effort to secure a spot in Bob's side for next summer. Imagine that! MLS is a good place for Americans to play. Gives me hope for the league. Viva MLS.
