I don't see that happening since he bleeds DC and has really been struggling with his ankle injuries. He is a Nowak type player though and I wouldn't doubt that Nowak would consider him.

Looking at that list I don't see most of those players being available or worthwhile. Klein could potentially be a player Nowak would consider and maybe Albright (if he takes a paycut). As an aside, the person who wrote that article is on crack if they think Pablo would be left unprotected (or even used as trade bait) by Colorado. That is pure lunacy.

Really? None? Not Klein, Cunningham or Thornton???

I would take those. Probably better than what Union will actually get in the Expansion draft.

There is no way in heck that FCD leaves Cunningham available and Thornton is the primary reason why Chivas is doing as well as they are. No way he is available either.

If you read my post Jonah, I said that Union would be lucky to get them because they ARE NOT going to get those kind of players in the Expansion Draft.

Like the article's author, I believe if they get them all it will be through trades and allocation deals.

Some quick notes... after (officially) last nights game a few of the Islanders players are now free agents... Cristian Arrieta USL MVP, Back to back Defensive Player of the Year, Bill Gaudette Last years GK of the Year, Jonny Steele Last years USL MVP and Fabrice Noel... A few other won't be back either but some aren't worth mentioning and others are not confirmed.

Arrieta wants to stay here but we'll see, Gaudette really likes it here but he may want to play at a higher level and Steele is pretty much gone. Noel is most like heading to France, I learned today the reason is because he's trying to get his family out of Haiti and he needs a big payday to help them.

Also Andres Cabrero left the team weeks ago, he was disappointed that the promises made to him were not kept and he's been training "somewhere"... the team released him from his contract, so don't be surprised if you see him in the open tryouts, he's looking for a team.

And if any of the players end up with your team... I'm going to be rooting for them and end up getting their jersey... I'll hate it but such is life

And since Gaudette is from PA., there could be some interest there.

I don't think that alone matters. I'd bet my paycheck that 99% of Union fans have no idea who he is. Never understood the "we should sign ______, he's from the area!".

To comment on Bill Gaudette, he's a really great player and he's a huge fan supporter, IF you guys get him he'll be a fan favorite. Also the guy has CCL, USL and MLS experience. He's played huge games and has come up big. And since your going to have a rocking stadium, he'll be even better (he feeds of the fan energy).

But I do have some great news... well for me at least... THE ISLANDERS SIGNED CRISTIAN ARRIETA FOR 3 MORE YEARS!!!! HELL YEAH, WOOT!!!!!!! Oh happy days :D :D

Sorry just after a disappointing season this has been such great news

The comment was not so much that Union would be interested because he is a Pa. native, it's more that Gaudette may be interested in coming back. The previous comment was that he was "happy there"( in Puerto Rico). He certainly has the experience and has shown well in the past couple of years that he would be worth a look see, especially as a back up. Don't really care if 99% of Union fans have no idea who he is, if he can help, bring him in.

I know, but I didn't want to put him on the spot. I leave that to other people. :D

I hear you. But there was a time, when Convey (Philly Golden Boy) was USMNT material and a starter at Reading, and we all should have wanted him. Nowadays? He might be a decent MLS winger, but only if the cost is right (or not outrageous).

In the same light, I think Jim Curtin would be a good pick AND he just so happens to be a Philly boy.

That would be like saying "wasn't Guzan the goalie that first year when Chivas USA was terrible?" or "wasn't Cannon the goalie when the Earthquakes were terrible?". If I recall correctly, he was actually a bright spot on that team. He has also shown well in the Concacaf Champions League the last 2 years. The question is really what he would cost versus what he would bring to the table. Finding a good available American keeper may not be that easy until mid-season.

I hear you, but in his only MLS action, he was fairly attrocious. And to reverse the train of thought, DJ Countess did suck for RSL when they sucked for their first year. And yes I blame him (and the rest of the team).

Delvin Countess? Why don't you just use Curtis Spiteri as an example! :p

I hear you though, and I hope we can find a very solid keeper that can keep the backline organized and calm. I'm actually not opposed to using a foreign slot for a year or two if we can find an experienced and solid keeper that can do that.

The starting 11 you want to see for the Union(realistic)

Not only will the salary cap most likely be bumped for this next season, but more overall leniency should be given to MLS teams.....Anyways, with that said maybe MLS teams will have two superstars per team instead of one now(besides the likes of LA and Seattle)

    With that said.....
Who do you want to see in their starting 11 from around the world and within MLS that would be within MLS boundaries as Phili fans?

lets say he does a 3-5-2 like he did with DC United

    Mine:
    GK-Hahnemann(contract is up next june)
    LCB-Michael Orozco(man can dream),CB-Eddie Robinson,RB-Bryan Namoff
LM-Justin Mapp(too good to be rotting on Chicago bench), CM-Anton Peterlin(great chance to pounce on a good young player, his contract will be up in July, but they could try him on loan as well),CAM- Freddy Adu,CM-Adam Moffatt,RM-Bobby Convey,ST- Mac Kandji, ST-Ebi Smolarek(DP)

keep in mind that MLS takes a break for the world cup next year as well

Why not Henri and Shevchenko while you're at it?

I don't recall Convey lining up as RM ever. He don't look too good.
