hey all. i am goin to be moving to perthshire, scotland in feburary and i was wondering how much heat i will take for wearing my chelsea replica around? GO BLUES
I lived in Glasgow for a few months and never got any heat for wearing Chelsea stuff. I cant imagine you having any problems unless some rowdy Celtic fans mistake it for Rangers blue.
Im not sure, but I think there used to be a bit of dodgy political/religious rivalry between Chelsea and Celtic fans. A few years ago Chesea fans were blamed for causing trouble at a Scottish Premiership match even though they werent any there. I think you should be alright, but I reckon if you went to Glasgow you would get some bad looks. The problem with Scottish football is that its too political. In England no one gives a *#*#*#*# about which team is Catholic and which is protestant, which is Irish and which is British, but Scotland is full of medievil gay rivalry, avoid it mate!!
right, thanks lads, what about a beckham jersey? i mean feurgie is excepted in england, do they appreciate becks?
By a Beckham jersey do you mean a Madrid one or an old ManYoo one? Funnily enough Becks is actually by far the most popular footballler with Scottish young kids, although a lot of that is because all of the Scottish footballers are ****. But I would still be a bit careful if you're going to go into any pubs wearing that one.
I was gonna say.....I thought a chelsea fan bought a ManUre Jersey! I was like Holy Shi'ites and muslums.....have fun there!
You wont get any aggro from the Rangers lads due to the past ties that our hoolie lot had with them and the whole "blue triumvirate" thingy. I would be very careful about wearing it around any Celtic fans though...course you could kill two birds with one stone there and wear the Duffers shirt Seriously though, why would you want to wear a Chelsea shirt whilst in Scotland?
Re: Re: A Yank has a question I saw all kinds of EPL kits while I was in Glasgow. I think 1)alot of people there just want to avoid the Rangers/Celtic death feud and 2)can appreciate quality football rather than the garbage you often see in the SPL. I got a laugh out of Partick Thistle's (small, occasional SPL club) marketing strategy in Glasgow, it was basically "Partick Thistle, the sane alternative."
Re: Re: Re: A Yank has a question You mis read, its "Partick Thistle: The Shite Alternative" And english people do live in glasgow too. Seriously though, garbage (like the last post) aside, why anyone in perth would give you grief about a chelsea kit would be a mystery to us all. They are too busy moaning about how crap St Johnstone are at the minute to bother about anything else.
That'll look good at Stamford Bridge when we buy Beckham. Seriously, though, you'll need to watch it as those Scottish fans can be quite Patriotic: Chelsea and Real Madrid? What are you a Eurosnob? Just don't wear any Euro kit in suburban DFW or Rambler and the SAS will be throwing coins at you at Burn home games.
