I have no problem with pre/halftime/post music. And I generally liked what we had last year. But I wouldn't mind more Latin music.
So we're all in agreement; nothing canned. That being said, the only "black"-related song I want to hear at RFK is "Paint It Black" by the Rolling Stones, and not that shite cover by that girl group whose name I can't remember.
they already play "back in black" before the team comes on, though it does end up sounding more like "chipmunk christmas" through the rfk sound system. i'd think canned music would ultimately prove a deterent to the fans singing/chanting/cursing/bitching/moaning/*#*#*#*# the refing, etc. if forced to listen to something i think i'd like method man's "bring the pain" as the team walked on the pitch. and no other music.
For the Squawking Turkeys of DC United, a song about Chicken Little would work well for so many reasons. =-)
Re: Re: What music do you want to hear at RFK? Too bad there aren't any songs about pathetic F*re trolling...unless you count Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Under The Bridge". Were you in RFK at all this past season? That's all they ever played before each match. I never want to hear that song again, because: 1. It marked a shite season, and 2. It's a friggin' horrible cliche.
That's how I feel. If they're playing Queen's classic cliche BECAUSE it is apt, I don't care how much canned music they play. Till then, none. No hardare, no canned music.
music needs a theme I'm on the side that would rather not have any music played. But if it there has to be music it should be from the band like (I think's called) SpitsFireUnited. They're local and I remember reading some thread here a long time ago where the guys play their shows in United jerseys and they also have seats somewhere around section 130. Anyways I downloaded some of their songs like "United" and "Sunburnt" which are full of DC United we're the best lyrics, etc. Not that Queen or anything else is crap, but come on, that's all so cliche.
Shite? Eat my Gooool! Guess what people, we get to create our own traditions in MLS. We can even use American orthology. Good canned music over the PA before and after the game, not during, is a possibility. Since they are already playing music at RFK, I'd like it to be something that adds to the soccer environment. I can hear mediocre guitar rock everywhere else, why do I have to hear it at the games too? Currently, our traditions are pretty *#*#*#*#*#ty, what with this tinkertoy league owned by, what is it, two ownership groups. Player assignments made by the league and not by the teams, the wonderful overtime period, etc. But, we fans (include me in your number) so want soccer to take root here we are willing to put up with MLS. Why not have some fun while we are at it? During the game we should bang a drum, blow a whistle, and ask loudly of the linesman what does he consider offside. I'll have more fun if we have better music.
Re: Shite? Eat my Gooool! OK, now maybe I understand why we are using the original spelling, it is to defeat the merde-y behavior of the robo-nanny. I AM a newbie.
Music during the halftime is so loud, my friends and I have to scream in order to hear each other. It wears me out, wears out our voices, and leaves a whole lot less energy to yell during the second half. Besides, I'd rather the loudest part be the fans during the game and not the loudspeakers before/after/at halftime. The garbled noise assaults your ears so much that you can't hear the crowd as well afterwards. It one of the few things that detracts from the experience. That, and the lousy, expensive concessions. Otherwise, I have a great time.
The man with the Quality avatar gets a gold star! Besides, the lyrics to "Ante Up" fit in with the sterotype everyone has of DC already - we might as well embrace it
True. The speakers in the southeast end of the stadium cut in and out (mostly out) whenever the English announcer speaks, and sometimes when the Spanish announcer does. Odd that it's just the former's voice that does it. Exactly! Anyone that can't get pumped up by "Ante Up" is dead inside and lacks the urge to kidnap fools. *** I'd like to go on record that I was half-kidding about the Andrew WK. As long as it's not during the games at all and not Limp Bizkit/random pop crap, I don't care.
Re: Shite? Eat my Gooool! "Put up with MLS?" Huh? I don't "put up with" it. It happens to be my favorite league in the world. I have fun at every game I go to, win, lose or draw (more fun, admittedly, if United wines). If you can't have fun without pre-recorded music, might I suggest you go out and buy an I-Pod or something?
Personally, a cover of "Welcome to the Jungle" w/ the lyrics changed to "Welcome to La Norte" or "Welcome to La Barra" would be more fitting..if done correctly.
