lol rodney wallace is trying to laser beam the ball. But the best one is the second guy from the right.
Speaking of college soccer - did anybody else make it out to see the Aggies take out the Utes in sudden death at Rio Tinto? My first college soccer game. I was impressed and had a good time. Hope Rio Tinto will host more of these events in the future.
Go RSL fans! http://www.cityweekly.net/utah/article-9253-real-salt-lake-soccer.html PS: La Barra, I dont think you are a tool. You will have to ask rslfanboy what he meant, but I dont think it was a jab.
So from this, we can conclude that RSL's week 2 match is either at Seattle, Columbus, New York, Dallas, LA, or Chivas. Since Seattle is playing at RSL on week 3, I'd guess they are not playing back to back road/home matches. I'd prefer New York or Dallas although RSL didn't look too hot at either location this season.
Two wins and a tie would make RSL 11-11-8. That is not a winning or losing season either, and would actually be a better finish than '08 by one point. Unfortunately, 41 points will not make the playoffs this season. But would the hurt of missing the playoffs be slightly more bearable if RSL manages to keep Colorado out of the playoffs for the third year in a row on final match day?
Of course. There's always at least a little satisfaction (for me, anyway) knowing that you've dragged someone else into the quagmire with you, especially when that someone else is a rival. I'd still rather be in the playoffs, but some consolation prize is better than no consolation prize.
The sweetness of keeping them out of the playoffs would last until the first playoff games are on the schedule. The bitterness of missing the playoffs will last until out first win of 2010. Winning the RMC would offer some solace but I'm sure the trophy would be softly whispering, "Booby prize. Booby prize."
If RSL goes 2-1-0 (WDL) to close out the season with 41 pts. they have 2/3 chance of making the playoffs. Link - scroll down to the "What if" section. Since RSL hasn't shown any indication that they're going to earn 41 points this season, it's probably not worrying about, though.
no way in hell we get a win or a draw in Toronto, I guarantee it. record at the end of the season will be: 10-12-8
I think you are right - the team will probably get stuck on 40 points. Colorado is a rivalry match. Both teams will be playing tough - Colorado to possibly avoid elimination and to regain the RMC and RSL to possibly qualify last second for the playoffs and if already eliminated, to save face in their final match. After the last two seasons' results, I give RSL the edge. New York? Well, we've never beat them. If we don't finally beat them this time around, the team deserves to pack up and move to St. Louis. The big question is that middle match against Toronto. RSL will only have a short few days to prepare for that one. Toronto will probably be sitting on 38 points after a win over San Jose, one point ahead of RSL. Their final match is at NY - another easy 3 for 41 points? A lot of pressure will be on RSL to perform in this one. A tie probably will not be sufficient, losing the final playoff spot by a point to Toronto. With all that pressure/short prep/ON THE ROAD, RSL will most likely crack under the pressure like at Dallas and lose 2 or 3 to zip.
They are at 9-11-7 right now (W-L-D). 10-11-9 would indicate one win and two draws. Don't you mean they will finish 11-12-7 or 10-12-8?
yes, I am retarded... One win: against NY One loss: against TFC One draw: againt cRapids.... gives you: 10-12-8, thanks for catching my mistake
Hey, check this out. Steve Davis (who covers soccer at the Dallas Morning News) has ranked Rio Tinto as 2nd best soccer stadium in the league, behind the (unfinished, and therefore what should be a non-contender) Red Bull Arena. The best part is at the end where he just lumps DSG, PHP, Toyota Park and Crew stadium all together at the bottom of the list. Hah! Losers!
That NY stadium is going to be the best for quite some time. The new SJ one looks alright... except for the fact that they arent finishing it all the way. WTF is with having an open end?
From the article: 2. Rio Tinto Stadium Home of: Real Salt Lake Plusses: The best looking stadium created yet, not too far outside town, with a light rail stop attached. Minuses: It could only be more perfect if the grounds weren’t 10-12 minutes outside downtown. The rail line isn't exactly attached...nearby is more like it. It would be nice to have a branch from the 94th station directly to the stadium. Have I read something about this in the past? The added accessibility would be a major plus to an already amazing place, and would reduce the amount of parking spaces needed. (Does RSL still need to come up with more parking to fulfill the city’s requirements?) The article mentions the waterfront and the Commodore Barry Bridge in Chester, but fails to mention the glorious Wasatch Front when speaking of Rio Tinto. The beauty of our natural surroundings are unmatched by all. RioT is #1
No problem man, what I'm wondering about is who is this "Bob" guy and what did he say that RSL had to censor him in their facebook page because of his comments about that article Damn Haters... P.S. Rio Tinto is and will forever be the number 1 stadium in this league. Not only for it's architechture or it's beautiful setting, but because no other stadium is home to Real Salt Lake, it's people and it's most hardcore fans.
Here is the latest salary list for all MLS players. http://www.mlsplayers.org/files/september_15_2009_salary_information__by_club.pdf
http://rsltothecore.com/rslblog/?p=3138 Um, hate to break into the news thread with actual news, but Woohoo! Sure better not be too cold that night, or DW will make me leave the Red Bulls game early.
Bus shuttles would be good enough. No reason to build rail infrastructure for something that is used intermittently. Even in a future that has a shopping mall attached to the stadium continual bus shuttles would be good enough.
