Does your soccer fandom consist of just an MLS team, or an MLS team and others as well?

Personally, I root for Liverpool, and since a few weeks back, the Red Bulls.

I was wondering how many people here root for just an MLS team, and no team from any other league, or are their rooting interests spread out.

I watch other leagues and take an interest, but having multiple favorites is not my thing. I mean, just imagine the awkwardness if they meet in the Club World Cup.

    It could happen.

Red Bulls, as well as Tottenham Hotspur.

Definitely a RB (and MLS) fan first and foremost. I realized this was a certainty when I'd been out all day last weekend and had a backlog of DVRed games. I opted to watch an MLS game (Chicago-Columbus I think) before either the Manchester Derby or Chelsea-Tottenham.

I kind of 'came back' to soccer after a long time away. I had never followed it professionally (the league didn't exist when i was young), but had played it extensively in my youth.

Galaxy, because I live in LA and therefore it's my hometown team, and I've grown to love and cherish the ups and downs since I moved here.

Sheffield Wednesday, because I grew up in Sheffield and I've supported them since I was a boy. Sadly, more downs than ups of late.

Hollywood United, because I work for the team and I try to make a concious effort to support grassroots soccer in the PDL. The same reason I was for the San Fernando Valley Quakes before.

I was actually an Arsenal fan before the Revs even existed on the field. Funny thing, I consider myself now more of a Revs fan than Arsenal.

The Earthquakes obviously, and AFC Wimbledon.

    Toronto is my only team.

I enjoy watching great teams and I follow the Premiership and Champions League very closely but I have no horse in those races.

I support the following teams in the following order:

    1. LA Galaxy
    2. FC Barcelona
    3. Chelsea FC
    4. AS Roma

MLS is definitely the league I follow closest.

    1) LA Galaxy
    2) Whoever has the most Americans or Irishmen on the field at one time. Thusly, Fulham is a big favorite of mine right now.

i only truly follow the Earthquakes and Queretaro FC.

but to be honest, ill watch ANY soccer game, whether its Fiorentina, Aston Villa, Norwich City, UANL Tigres, or Kilmarnock.

there are certain teams for which ill never root for, though, such as Manchester United, LA Galaxy, Chelsea, Real Madrid and CD Guadalajara. just rooting for them makes me feel like a sellout. If you support them, by all means enjoy the show, but its too easy to just root for them and find their jersey in any soccer store.

I basically have a team in every league that I don't necessarily support, but enjoy and prefer watching than others.

Manchester City of course if you couldn't tell by my screen name. I have been supporting them for almost 15 years. Thanks to an old college roommate. I do not have a favorite MLS team. But do enjoy watching the league. But if we had one here in Minnesota I would have season tickets.

    MLS - Sounders
    National - USMNT
    World - Newcastle United
    Local - Kitsap Pumas (USL-PDL)

The Sounders by far have the bulk of my attention. I have got to cheer on the US team. Newcastle made a fan out of me last season when I was searching for an international team to follow during the MLS off-season. The Pumas play right across the street from the college I volunteer at so it would be almost criminal not to cheer for them.

The Sounders have had an excellent first season so far in the MLS with winning the US Open Cup and being in the playoff chase. The USMNT had a great showing in the Confederations Cup and look like a sure thing for World Cup Qualification. Newcastle sadly was relegated last year but with a Premiereship level of talent and playing in the Championship they look strong this year, baring an ownership/management implosion or firesale they should be back in the Premiereship next year. The Pumas won their division last season going 12-1-3 (WLD) last year making for an outstanding inaugrial season.

My #1 team is the KC Wizards, because I grew up in KC. I also follow the Des Moines Menace which hasn't been a problem except when they won enough Open Cup games to get to play KC!

I also have kids in high school 9 of the last 11 years and am a high school referee, so it's been hard to follow the Menace during high school season and early summer (too many family activities).

I follow the National Team (4 caps in the last 4 years and the 2001 WCQ in KC). I also follow the German and Austrian Bundesliga with slight favorites in both leagues. I've also started following Barcelona because they play beautiful football.

Besides the Columbus Crew, I have zero interest in MLS. I attend every home game and watch every away game on TV, but beyond that, I never watch any other MLS teams play, ever. I simply can't care. However, I follow Serie A, EPL, and La Liga pretty intently and have for many years.

I can understand how you feel to a point. I am an LA Galaxy fan because I live in LA(always wanted to have a football team from my city) and have followed them since they where established. I had no clue it would become a club that somewhat became international. The part I agree with is there are many "bandwagon", "sellout", "club jumpers" in the teams you mentioned which is part of the reason I don't like fans of ManU, Real Madrid and so on. They have no history, or knowledge of the club but they suppor them because of their success. Additionaly, they would not be able to name more than two players on the team and if I showed them a blank map would not be able to tell me where Madrid or Manchester is located. But we cant forget that even these popular teams have many lagitimate fans. I have a lot of respect for the individuals that root for lower table teams because they are what being a fan is all about, through the high and lows. Finally, I am a true fan of my club and am glad you are a true fan of yours, and I hope my team makes your team suffer every time they play each other......

i enjoy cursing the galaxy fans wearing green and gold jerseys. they are a lot more into it. ;) compared to the beckham fans who cant remember why LA doesnt have 3 stars above their crest :D. at least you wont look at me like WTF when i say cienfuegos, or even COBI JONES.

I follow Manchester United fairly intently. They were the first soccer club I saw in my adult life, watching highlights of the first EPL season on MSG network Saturday mornings in the Poconos. I watch MLS regularly, as it is my home league in a sport that isn't supported. When I heard of the Sons of Ben, and their push to have the Philadelphia market represented in MLS, I jumped right on board. Since then, I have traveled to DC for the USMNT and cooked for 500 tailgaters at Lincoln Financial Field here in Philly. I have always supported New York teams first and foremost, but for MLS, I am a Philadelphia Union fan, end of story.

I'm a Manchester United living near New York City where I have lived my whole life. I don't know where Manchester is located, but the same (not knowing where within the country a city is located) could be said for every country except the United States and Canada for me. I can name way more than two players on the team. Manchester United is the only team I became a fan of the 2000s. My other soccer teams are the Red Bulls and United States and Israel national teams.
