Here is an article from BondBuyer.com that discusses some of the business details of the project: http://www.bondbuyer.com/article.html?id=20090914HVZBAA2R
The new location I guess. I hope it is the new location and looks awesome. The pictures were released at the season ticket holders event a day or two ago.
See this post in the Wizards forum for more about the renderings https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=18819425#post18819425
Those pix look damn cool. I like how even the supporter's section has a roof over it, which would project the sound, etc. The whole design with the hotel next door is nice, reminds me of one of those Poplar Point imaginations a while back.
If anyone out there supports the idea of Kansas City getting their own stadium, we could use your help. If you could send an email to these three people, maybe, as Robb Heinemann put it, we can make the "Final Push". They care about tax dollars. Let them know if you'd travel to see an away game or qualifier. They're trying to build 24 tournament fields as well, so if you're involved with travel teams, all the better.
http://www.kansascity.com/115/story/1507325.html New update, basically it seems like KCK is trying to close the deal before KCMO can get back in it.
At this point wherever the stadium gets built is better. If the Bannister area is still in play (which I really doubt), I personally think it's the better area overall, it's more central located and surrounded by population more so. The Legends location is out on one edge of the metro area. The Legends area though has it's pluses, as the area already has the retail and other stuff that would not have been built until 2012 or so out at the Bannister site. With that retail already there, the Wizards don't have to ask for as much public money.
I liked when I went to see the game at CAB in KCK. Nice area. Right off I-70 just outside the loop. Those in the easten suburbs of KCMO will have to travel, but KC traffic's not horrible, (plus, NE or SE fans can easily take 435 around the city). Would more centrally located be better? Possibly. But, the KCK location they're playing in now works well Sykotyk
They fit in 11,900 for the Galaxy game. If that pays the bills, then just keep CAB...play Juventus or Liverpool at Arrowhead or Busch.
Re: Leonard threatens MLS move.... WHAT THE ********? This is a KC thread. Besides, all cleared up http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2009/10/after_a_day_of_damage_control.html As for the KC stadium, I'm REALLY excited for you Wizards fans. You've got two sides fighting for this MLS stadium. Looking good. People give the Wiz a lot of shit, but since they were purchased by the current owner they've been a great organization that has gone from a joke to a club actually filling up a stadium and having a good time.
State makes offer to entice Wizards to Village West Shawnee Dispatch I guess it's good that these locals are fighting over the Wizards. Something that DCU would die for.
so i guess NBA & NFL are idiots for playing games in Mexico or England? Dallas cowboys could do just fine with just Mexican sales of their apparel.
what are you talking about? felixx responded with "are you kidding?" to your ridiculous assertion that the wizards could and/or should keep playing at cab. then you showed your ignorance by thinking that busch stadium is in kansas city. what do the cowboys' apparel sales numbers in mexico have to do with the price of tea in china?
I never said Busch is in KC...I only said its a good idea to play international friendlies with Liverpool at arrowhead or busch. These types of events attempt to reach out to new audiences. Reaching other audiences in a greater region is common among sports franchises.
Why would you play an international soccer match at a baseball stadium when there's a perfectly good football stadium down the street in KC and even IF you had to play in St. Louis, a perfectly good football stadium there as well?
