What: Houston @ Pachuca, CCL Group Stage Where: Estadio Hidalgo, Pachuca When: Wed. Sept. 16, 9:00 pm CDT TV: FSC, TeleFutura Radio: 790AM, 850AM Suspended for Hou - Holden, Ashe, Hainault. Landin cup-tied. Kamara reportedly about to be traded. Weaver is back, we'll see about ERob.
Well at least we don't have to guess who the 18 players will be huh, since we only have at most 18 available (not counting Deric).
Even though the deck is stacked pretty high against Houston, I have high hopes for this game. Any time the Dynamo plays Pachuca, it's a fun game to watch. Hell, I'll say it. 2-0 Dynamo.
I chalked this one up as a loss a long time ago. After seeing half the team get suspended last game, I'm just hoping we don't get Crewed.
Can anyone tell me if the Texian Army or El Batallion are going to have viewing parties for the Pachuca game?
Waibel---BB---Cochrane--Barrett Mullan--Cameron--Clark--Davis --------Odero-Weaver--- If Dom might throw in Hayden or Ustruck in the midfield as well. Ching will sub.
You can always go by Lucky's Pub for friendly folks that will put it on the one of the Big Screens for you.
the way cruz azul played today vs islanders.... its not impossible for our players to get a win... but then again, cruz azul aint no pachuca...
This match down in Pachuca will be a terrific measuring stick of the mentality of the entire squad. With so many key players missing and Los Tuzos playing well in the MFL, defeat appears certain. Yet this is exactly the time for a mix and match line up to come together after a kick in the stomach loss on Sunday and throw down midweek. If we keep our shape at the back, hold the ball well and don't commit stupid fouls, which are all things our team can control on its own, then we have a fighting chance. Get opened up at the back, donkey the ball down the field to no one and foul early and often then we are screwed. It would be awesome to see Eddie back on the field and lead us to a hard fought nil-nil raod point or the like.
Good luck guys. You have played some of the best footy down in Mexico of any MLS team, hope you keep it up. Almost afraid to post here after Sunday. We got a break on the PK. Some contact, but that usually isn't called. But, I think maybe we had some Karma coming after the whole Maruffo thing with Chicago earlier. Though, of course, that doesn't matter to you guys.
We are only bringing 16 of 23 players down, so I don't know if it will be worth watching for a neutral. Chicago on Sunday is a big match, and we could almost put them to sleep in terms of the #1 seed out east with an away win. Here's who is out for us: 1. D Eric Brunner (starting CB) is suspended. 2. D Chad Marshall (starting CB) got hurt in practice Monday (knee sprain), could miss Chicago game or possibly more depending on severity. 3. D Gino Padula (starting LB) was ill Sunday but played through it. He won't make the trip. 4. D Frankie Hejduk (starting RB) will be rested. 5. F Alejandro Moreno (starting F) will be rested (played midweek and Sunday). 6. F Emelio Renteria (visa issues) won't make the trip. 7. GK Andy Gruenebaum (hip) won't make the trip. So, 5 starters out, including the entire backline. Ouch.
Some of this match will come down to how well Pachuca defends the cross. They did not defend it well at all in our previous encounters. We play the most British style of perhaps any club team in North America, and we are pretty good at it. Most of our offensive success against the Mexicans and Central Americans has come from pumping in cross after cross and taking advantage of our size and poor marking on the part of our opponents, who rarely play a team like the dynamo. There is a script out there for Latin teams to use against the Dynamo. It was written by Atlante last tournament. After inexplicably not being scored upon by any of the Dynamo's excellent chances generated from the cross during the Houston leg of the game, Atlante completely changed their defensive posture for the return leg. Knowing they could not defend us in the air in their box, they overloaded the wide defense, always have even or superior numbers out wide to prevent us from getting off hardly any decent crosses in the first place. We just kept going to that dry well, not having the ability to beat them at their game, through the middle on the ground. This was perhaps the only time I truly thought the Dom was outcoached.
this actually appears to be the script every team is using against us. great point! i can't remember the last time we scorded from up the middle when it wasn't rico, stu or dero blasting one from outside the box. hopefully once landin loses his lbs, he will be able to finess his way thru the middle d.
Indeed, Atlante studied their game film and made the correct changes and it showed. Discounting the prison raping we got from that Osaka team, which appeard more of our guys having been mentally still surfing or hanging ten at Ching's old garage with Kelso, Eric and the gang...I agree that night down in Atlante is the only night I ever witnessed Dom have no answers for his opposite number's tactical shifts.
please dont remind me of that, all i remember is staying up really late to watch a complete beat down... getting way too drunk at 4am in the morn.... that was one sad night...
Come out and watch the game at Mezzanine Lounge tonight downstairs! We'll be giving away a pair of tickets (section 124 row b) and Parking Pass to Saturday's game. Also will be giving away this ForeverOrange team-autographed long sleeved white t-shirt.
