    Hiya!

    Just a simple question....
and c'mon mods, i think this is an ok thread to start (i can just feel the "this belongs in the general questions thrad!" coming on lol)...if i asked this in there, it would get lost under a bunch of other questions/banter....and im super curious....

    anywho...

    1. SO HOW MANY BOOTS TOTAL DO YOU OWN?
    2. OF THOSE MANY, HOW MANY DO YOU PLAY IN, AND HOW MANY ARE FOR A COLLECTION?

like i said, just curious, and perhaps trying to make myself feel better about my ebay boot buying problem/addiction lol

i own 9 pairs. 2 are way too big for me to wear, 2 is broken, one is SG and i don't get much of a chance to wear them down here, and i wear the rest pretty evenly, but lately i've been favoring my laser II Ks.

currently have 4, play in 3. F50.8 never use, legends 1 for practices but they are going on 3 1/2 years now so you guess what they look like. powerswerves and MV V for games. I just sold my MV III SGs and FGs for a combined $280. SG White/gingers used for $70 and brand new white/giner FGs for $210. They pretty much raised my funds for FG and SG maestris and FG K V1.10s.

10 pairs...i play/have played in all of them...boots aren't made for collecting, they're made for playing in.

subsequently, boot collecting is for crappy players

3 pairs, all mid-range or lower, attained very cheaply at outlet stores:

    Nike Mystic II (white/gold)
    Adidas Pred Pulsion (basic black/red)
Some really cheap Adidas that I don't know the name of (black/white/green)

The Nikes are my first-choice despite being the slightest bit too big. The Pulsion's fit bitter, but I dislike the off-center lacing.

If I ever join an adult league of some sort that's more organized than pick-up in the park, I'll spring for my first pair of Copas since the distant days of high school.

lol that is quite a generalization.....

im definitely a collector, and although i'm crappy right now because im in the middle of physical therapy from a knee operation, i USED to be good in highschool, played on varsity freshman year skipping JV and whatever is worse than JV....

and i'm sure there's many great players that also collect sports equipment/memorabilia, whichever sport it is they play.

lots of great players of any sport are into collecting things associated with their sport, whether its soccer boots, balls, jerseys, baseball gloves, basketball shoes, football helmets, hockey sticks, whatever.

people collect all sorts of things for whatever reason.

i started collecting because i love the game, and i am interested in all the various designs of soccer's most important piece of equipment: the boot. i have oldschool predator touch's and manias that are part of the game's history. i have early vapors and tiempos, and boots that are out now that will be part of the history in the near future. Rubix on here has like every single predator since the first one (or close to it), and i consider that an incredible archive of soccer's history.

also, i have a pretty well paying job, now that im out of college, and my living expenses are low...if i can get a brand new in box boot for a quarter of its MSRP now off ebay, and i can sell off the boot at a later date and make 4 times what i payed if i don't want it anymore, why the hell not? i mean, ive already made 200 and change dollars off selling boots from my collection.

a 1/3rd of my boots are for playing in, a 1/3rd for collecting, and a 1/3rd for investment in possible future return. absolute worse case scenario on those last third, i simply make my money back (which im not worried about in the slightest)

seriously, im sick of the collector haters. if you dont like the fact that i and other people collect, great, that's fine, but why dont you keep it to yourself.

i mean, this is the "soccer boots" forum lol

side note: although, i will admit, i think i went way ebay crazy during my recuperation time after my knee surgery because i couldn't play and got antsy and was on the computer way too much. but im doing P90x right now and will be more fit than i was before and have way stronger legs and be back to playing by late October....actually, this thread has made me realize the collecting has gotten way out of hand and i have suspended the ebay account lol

    END RANT :D

PS im going to post this at myself before someone else can:
