I read something somewhere about 3rd jerseys for next year and that the rumor is MLS teams will have them(might of been in a Fire thread)... What would be your pick for a Metros 3rd jersey design & color?? Persoanlly i would like to see an all red kit or maybe a grey kit with the vertical red stripes... and also a very diffrent away kit compared to this years disaster.
How about we get 2 jerseys right before we wear a 3rd atrocity? The home kits are OK, but those transparant shoulders have got to go. How about white shorts with the home kits? The road jerseys are pretty atrocious, especially the huge collars. All-white has never been a favorite but at least make it look presentable. Otherwise gray with some thin red/black trim might be nice...
I would just rather an ugly jersey that could fit a fan as opposed to a good jersey that doesnt. How about selling aways too. Why would I want a third jersey i can't spend money on?
That would be hideous. I don't know why they got away from the black and white vertical stripes. I liked that a lot. Red and white would be okay, too, I guess. And I agree that a third uniform would be pointless. I remember the Baltimore Orioles used to have three uniforms back in the 70's (all white, all grey, and white with dayglo orange jersey). I couldn't figure out why they did that, either.
I don't think a third jersey is necessary. We are the METRO's not the METS! However, I wouldn't mind seeing white shorts with red socks at home. Just about everybody has black at home. And I'd like to see black shorts for the away uni's. White shirts are not bad, it's just that ours suck!
The whole purpose of NBA teams designing a 3rd jersey was to get fans to BUY them. You couldn't even buy those hideous Metros road white kits even if you wanted to.
Yeah we really need to work on the away shirts before we get a third one. Black/White stripes are good. I wish they had kept the broad stripes instead of going to the new Inter Milan style Jerseys. Oh well.
Ok so its not exactly the same. But its close. http://www.kitbag.com/stores/kitbag_4_5/football/product_details.aspx?pid=8032&cid=1673&tid=0
Id rather have that inter kit in red and black than the thin stripes we have. And I'm not a big fan of the see through shoulders.
A quick sketch of what a gray away jersey could look like in the current Nike design scheme: No MLS club wears gray. I think it could be distinctive.
With white shorts and socks. Black shorts at home, with red socks -- but fix the home jersey shoulder, as mentioned in an earlier post.
All I'm saying is that these new clubs in 05 better not have red or blue as their main colors... I'm sick of seeing them. How bout an orange for once?
yeah seriously.. how bout some green again. I still dont see why the rapids completely changed the color scheme.
Home: Red+Black Stripes Away: Red+White Stripes 3rd: Black+White Stripes We could be the best dressed MLS team.
I think the biggest thing is getting broader stripes. The thin ones are not as distinctive (we'd be more Barca then Milan then, just color change). Also, and MOST importantly, is getting rid of the "MetroStars" emblazoned in front of the jersey. That is garbage. I also hope that the two new teams have no blue or red. However, if Chivas comes in, they will have BLUE, RED, and WHITE in their jerseys. Couldn't get any worse.
I think the Metros may be getting new 2004 away jerseys as they just put up their 2003 aways jerseys up on auction... http://www.metrostars.com/fanzone/auction.htm
I'm sure Nike will have something hideous in store for all the squads in 2004. The Metros obviously copied the AC Milan kit a few years back so I'd like to see a white short with the red/black jersey. If you look at last years Nike line the Metros away kit was actully a goalkeeper design in white.
Metro should make their 3rd jerseys hoops - black and white or red and black horizontal stripes. You know, like they're planning to turn the whole shit history of the team around. Besides, no one has horizontal stripes in this league anyway. Another idea...brown and yellow hoops and play a few games in Flushing (Shea) to sybolize what we do with our money and time.
