we should keep a positive outlook, but at the same time not be too over confident. look what happened to Uruguay in Peru...
Bolivia has good athletes and individuals who can score. Ecuador has great chemistry as a team and a few great individual players who can score too.
Soccer is 11 vs 11 and we may play better than Bolivia, but luck has to be on our side also... look what happened vs Colombia. We played better but we had bad luck.

Ecuador knows what's at stake... It's do or die vs Bolivia.
And I believe Ecuador will have better luck and a positive result this time...

    Elizaga

    Ibarra Hurtado Fleitas Ambrossi

    Castillo Noboa
    Valencia Montero

    Benitez Zura

Yea get in line, I forgot this guy was even in el Nacional.

He went from being 'la sensacion del futbol ecuatoriano' to another player is Barcelona's graveyard.

Edmundo Zura hasn't done squat shit in El Nacional... so don't go shit talking about Barcelona ending his career... He couldn't squat do shit in Australia, a country with a league that's below Ecuador's. He aint doing shit in El Nacional.

Wherever you put him, Zura is an average player.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa... Calm down.. Lmao
I didn't mean Barcelona ended his carreer. He's playing in el nacional, so obviously he's still got a little something.

When I said barcelonas graveyard I was referring to players that just couldn't cut it there and had to leave or sit. Like Quiroz, lara(Top goalscorer for LDU, and then left for colombia) or mondaini for example, he was sensational in emelec... BUT went to barcelona in the 'galacticos era' lol and was garbage just like Zarate. Now that I think of it, who actually stayed in BSC from that 'revolution'?

I think we should go for a 4 5 1 con los volates acting in a very offensive nearly forward manner. i say reasco wont be there so, lets place campos or miguel ibarra. and replace hurtado con el uruguayo.

    -------------------------- Fleitas-----------Espinoza

    -----------J. Campos------------------------------------ W. Ayovi

    -------------------------Castillo---------Noboa

    -----------Valencia-------------Lara------------------Montero

    -----------------------------Benitez

Montero should be polyfunctional and double as a forward. The team should transform into a 4-3-3 during attack, with castillo throwing back, ayovi to midfield, and both valencia and montero joining benitez high up front and occasionally lara and noboa moving up while valencia staying back. Mendez should be a supersub.

I'm hearing the same thing as well...but again, the field plays against both teams not just ours.

Unfortunately, Jairo Campos was never called up for these 2 games.

And why on earth would you want Espinoza to ever play again...do people not realize he sucks balls by now???!! wow...

I definitely support Cristian Lara starting this game instead of Benitez. I would leave Mendez in there even though he had a horrible game against Colombia. Montero would definitely be subbed in around the 60th minute (or earlier if necessary) if I were Vizuete. And instead of Geovanny Espinoza I'd have Guagua play (even though he so unrealiable).

Cevallos; Ibarra, Hurtado, Guagua, Ayovi; Valencia, Castillo, Noboa, Mendez; Lara, Zura

I'd have Montero subbed in for Mendez/Noboa at some point (if he were to go in for Mendez, I'd have Mendez play the double 5 position and Montero be the wing man), Benitez in for Lara/Zura since unfortunately theres no other option, and I'll leave the third substition blank but it would most likely be a defensive one for the last few minutes depending on our situation.

Fernando Hidalgo is by far the worst player in our midfield in the NT....he's mediocre and way too overrated by Vizuete which is the ONLY reason he's there.

yeah, but not scoring...they'll dance with that ball all day but you won't see that ball touch the net. Montero-Benitez, Benitez-Rojas, or Montero-Rojas would not be a good option. Zura isn't anything special either, but honestly we need a big dude up front instead of having two little midgets running around and not slamming that ball in.

I'm watching a re-run of the Colombia game on ESPN. Our defense is horrible. For some reason I rather have Guerron rather than Zura.

But I don't think Lara would do anything special if he started. As a sub I wouldn't mind it. I rather have benitez and montero in there reaking havic on that defence.

Regardless of what we put up as Forwards, our offense's main strenght is our mids, man, Mendez, Valencia, Ayovi, Noboa and Castillo they got to take outside shots which will create corner kicks and will draw defenders out giving Benites and whoever else more room to maneuver, remember last WCQ our main scorer was Mendez, Honestly as Nervous as I am and god knows I'm not cocky, but THIS IS A GAME THAT BY NO MEANS WE SHOULD LOSE, we have a faster, physically stronger, more adjusted team than Bolivia, and historically La Paz has always been good to us, not just in WCQ but in Libertadores and Sudamericanas etc, the last good Copa America we had was In Bolivia in which we came out first in our group on top of Argentina back in 97. sure they playing for honor, but $hit we playing to go to the cup, our hunger must be bigger than theirs. we will miss Reasco though. but Ibarra is a really good candidate. and IDK why Joao Rojas is getting so much hate from all of us here, That kid has shown nothing but skillz and b@ll$ specially in big games, as much as I hate to rep up an Emelecista that kid is the most exciting thing in our local tournament.

Anybody else think that Paraguay will ******** up once again? they gotta win their game against Argentina. I believe we can end up in 4th place; 4th place should be our goal.

I just think it's ironic, because this is a better team than either of the past 2 WC's. The only thing we don't have is El Tin. But some of the guys on the past WC squads couldn't even clean these guys' shoes. Remember Raul Guerron? Cuchillo Fernandez? And the ever-present Cleber Chala?

haha that's EXACTLY how i think. it's crazy how all these better talented players can't do anywhere near as well as the past teams when they have much more international exposure at younger ages and have individually achieved more. It just comes to show how great El Tin really was. 1 player made THAT much of a difference b/t us being in 6th place now compared to being in 3rd place before (last qualifiers).

the starting line up has been given today: 4-5-1 formation

Cevallos; Fleitas, Hurtado, Espinoza, Ambrossi; Valencia, Castillo, Noboa, Mendez, Ayovi; Benitez

strong mid....a doubtful defense...an ok goalkeeper...and a forward who i predict will have a headache trying to score.

I still believe Cristian Lara DEFINITELY should be a starter in this game. I would have kept Ayovi as a left back and had Lara and Zura up front. It's risky to do so, but having 1 forward (benitez) up front seems worse IMO.

Let's go for the win though, this is THE FINAL!!! There is no "after" after this game. We have to atleast get 7 points out of the next 3 games....3 against Bolivia, 3 against Uruguay, and ATLEAST 1 from Chile.
