Not actually inserting the name of the London Club makes the thread title a little namby-pamby, don't you think?

So pick a London club....shouldn't be too difficult.

Arsenal and Chelsea is what he meant, the fact that the two clubs are London based and both breached rules...

If a mod wants to change the name to something better and controversial - please feel free!

I always felt that the London supporters, no matter what club, usually act the same outside of Spurs and Fulham. Same ol' "Who are ya?!" type chants, same ol' burberry 'n' ballcaps.

Swedens biggest newspaper, Aftonbladet, claims that Fredrik Ljungberg is doing a Beckham and will be joining an EPL club during the american off-season. They claim that he has been in contact and has negotiated with Chelsea but that Arsenal are the most likely destination.

They do repeat a lot of the bullshit that comes through the English rags nut when they bother to find things out themselves they are almost always right. Could Wenger have decided that some experience might not be such a bad thing after all?

the link is in Swedish and might not be that useful to most ;)

He's been playing well for Seattle it seems, but I can't see Arsenal or Chelsea (if they can make transfers) going for him.

Well, the article suggests that he's been in London twice to negotiate with both clubs. I'm not saying that A or B will happend but I do believe that he has talked to both clubs. I can't really see him returning to London for anyone but Arsenal really.

His problem was never ability but fitness and he has been fit for quite a while now. I think he could be a useful pick-up for a team like Arsenal if he keeps fit.

Yeah. Seattle have dropped off a little recently, but they won the Cup yesterday and a double in their first MLS season isn't out of the question.

BTW, glad to see no one picked up on this;) REPORTED.

Yea, gallas is just no where NEAR the world class world beaters like terry, rio and vidic:rolleyes:

EVERYTIME those 3 come up against World class forwards, with pace, agility, and ability, they end up looking like FOOLS.

    Torres v vidic, 4-1?
    eto'o v rio, 2-0?
Terry, just youtube any of his "world class" tackes, it'll remind you of maldini:rolleyes:

    Oh nose, oh nose!

Flat-out stupid comment with regards to Ferdinand. I am not sure if you noticed, but he was covering for Vidic and his midfield for that entire game. Are you trying to suggest that Gallas is a better defender than Ferdinand? Really? Are you really going into that? Honestly? C'mon now, you're having us on? It's a joke... right? You are not actually serious? No? Please tell me this is a wind up? I am hoping this is all a wind up? Are you Vince McMahon? Could you really say that with a straight face? It's the truth? You are telling the truth? You really believe this? Is this what you believe? Have you seen my 10 year old nephew? But you do believe this right? That Gallas is better than Ferdinand? It has to be a hoax? Doesn't it? Seriously now... let's be calm and rational, OK? Where were you in 1990? You would pick Gallas over Ferdinand if given the choice? You are going to stand here (or sit there, wherever that is?) and tell me that? I'm all for jokes and crisps but don't you think you've gone a bit too far? Glenn Beck Glenn Beck Glenn Beck is Ferdinand really the lesser of the two CBs?

billy, i presume you haven't encountered juanca yet.

An in-form Gallas is arguably the 3rd best CB in the league behind Rio and Carvalho.

An in-form Gallasis a fantastic defender yes... but an in-form Ferdinand (basically when he is fit, then) is unquestionably the best defender in the world right now, and has been for the last three years.

of course, that is true but I don't think anyone sensible (go back to my first line of the previous post) would argue that.

I'd take Ferdinand and Vidic over any center pairing in the world right now.

People are sidestepping the major issues of the Gallas/Arsenal Backline is world class "debate."

    1. Both Gallas and Arsenal's backline are being heralded (by juanca mind you) as world class after a month.

    2. Both Gallas and Arsenal's backline were poor, quite poor recently, enough so, to suggest that this period is just a patch of good form and not the base level.

    3. World class is bandied about loosely. United's back four was regarded as world class because it carried out its duties immaculately over a period of time AND over 2 seasons had 2 or 3 if not more of the absolute best players of their ilk*, reside in the back four.

    * Ferdinand is the best defender in the world, has been for 3 seasons without questio
    * Vidic is the best menacing/powerful defender in the world and showed class when Rio was out.
    * Evra was arguably the best LB in the world for long stretches of last season
*Brown, year before last, was one of the best defensive RBs for an entire season

Gallas and the Arsenal backline have done well against OK opposition in a handful of games this year. It is WAAAAAY too early to begin debate on whether or not they are world class. If indeed Gallas makes his way to world class again, he will be iconic. He had a tremendous peak and a tremendous trough, to reach that peak or close to it again will be amazing. I've rarely seen a player so good, be so shit for such a long time (last season) without looking like he had a shot of recovering his form then take a break and return to his old standards. That would be weird. It is poosible though, because he's immensely talented.
