i was one of the people at the airport. it was nutty, there had to have been over 100 people. it was cold & raining, we all got soaked, the flight was delayed, but it didn't dampen any spirits. the entire team didn't take the flight back, but we did get a lot of great support from the players who did exit the plane. most stayed for autographs, keller gave us a little speech, local news crews were there.... pretty solid support i thought. hope too many sounder fans don't become glib, gloating a-holes about this win. it was great, but calling-out DCU or anything like that isn't showing class. Barra Brava was amazing and are the class of the supporter groups, have to give them their due. Wicks just let the emotions of the game get the best of him, he'll face his due. great win, glad to get some silverware in our first year in the MLS... but don't let it go to our head guys. we still have a long uphill battle for the playoffs
Ahh. Yup. Usual bunch of soccer haters. Every article on soccer they feel the need to roll out their tired ass bitches about how boring soccer is. Obviously never seen a professional game in their life. The amazing part about that whole event is that the GK's defense was so bad the forward had enough time to stand there and wait for the guy to get to his feet before shooting...
A comment that was posted at 3:19 p.m. Pacific time in that article. It takes a lot of skill to write something this stupid.
Heh. Obviously never seen a throwball game, let alone a soccer game... Using that guys analogy a football game in its entirety is: run ball, throw ball, throw a tantrum if ball doesn't go where you wanted it to go, lather, rinse and repeat. Tell ya, some people can be so stupid.
That comment really bugs me. You have to TRY to be so ignorant, like my friend who said to me the other day that golf requires more skill and physical ability. Right... it takes much more skill to hit a ball with a stick with your hands...What a moron.
Sorry to post so late as to be irrelevant, but congrats from Rev-land. I was pulling for you guys all the way. I also thought the reffing decisions were going 90% DCU's way (Pontius fouling Keller twice - no call - Burch bloodying Ljungberg's nose - no call - DCU dives again and again - many calls.) Seattle deserved the win.
