At his age he needs to be playing. There is little point in him being at Braga if he is just going to ride the pine.
But he needs to keep banging his head against the wall! He needs to keep trying and potentially waste a whole year for nothing! Try try try!
D'you want him to get everything handed to him? If he doesn't have the patience or mentality to break Braga's squad, good effing luck getting in this team. I like the kid's game, he has something that I think we could use now, but his mentality seems suspect.
He didn't seem to have a problem playing in the Reserves as well as sitting on the bench early on in 08/09. I get the feeling he was either promised or expected to play in the first team in Braga and when he realized that wasn't the case, opted to come back with us and train with superior players at the very least. I don't blame him. He has a career with us as well as Italy to be concerned about, maybe he'd rather try to impress Fergie instead of the Braga coach.
(borrowed) --- United looked good early but Stewart gives up a PK and 0-1 to Wigan. --- Anderson makes it 1-1 yes... Anderson. his first United goal from open play. very nice individual effort and hits it near post.
great setup play by King. wow... he's quite the player. nicely taken goal by Eikrem... 2-1 in the 48th.
Josh King is fast taking over Matty James as my most likely player to make it. Of course, that doesn't mean James hasn't continued to impress and progess at a fast rate himself.
I was told that he wasn't impressive during preseason, at all. He then started the europa league, and was subbed off after 34 minutes and conceding two goals. It doesn't look like a guissepe rossi situation at all. It appears the coach wanted him, but possebin just didn't impress initiy. The manager of braga is not obligated to throw hom in there ( unless a clause like when pique went on loan. He should stay there and struggle to get into the team instead of his spot bring handed to him. The experiemce of him going thru this will pay off far more than reserve football, which he got plenty of last season.
that was an enjoyable reserves match to watch. Anderson really seemed to be enjoying himself out there and played very well. lots of great through balls. Eikrem is a pretty good prospect as well. i could see him going out on loan next season. there's a lot in the locker... hopefully more than a few will advance to the 1st team at some point. --- http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/sep/03/rodrigo-possebon-manchester-united-loan in the Guardian now but it says his agent is against the move.
At this point I don't see why Possebon doesn't get a loan to a championship side for a wee bit, surely that would be a much better option than playing in the reserves. Better competition, and he could get better acclimated to the physical side of the English game. I would love to see both Matty James and King get called up for the Carling Cup. (King might have a bit more competition with Macheda and Welbeck still waiting to impress for the senior side this season) Anyone find a video of Anderson goal? Or highlights even? That would be splendid.
Spot on Benni, reserve team football this year will be of little or no value to Rodrigo (he needs first class, first team football and will need to impress in order to secure minutes)!!! If it is indeed true the Braga loan has been terminated I feel it's a big opportunity missed.
There you go. As I stated previously there is little point in him being there if he is not going to be playing football.
The trainer started him in a Europa Cup league game. That shows that he had faith or belief in the kid. Obivously it's extreme to have "no role" in a squad after 1 match, but from everything I read he was ********ing bad so far this season. That being said, if he stayed I bet the coach would have given him another chance later in the year if Rodrigo kept his head down and kept grinding. Oh well, there's no real reason to discuss this - he's back with us, and hopefully we'll see him in the Carling Cup soon.
Well if that guardian article is to be believed, then he was so poor that the manager took him off after 34 minutes, then shunned him after that. Why wouldn't he want to leave if after a horror show you're given up on? I'll take that article with a grain of salt but should Possebon really be to blame here if he believed he wouldn't get a look in after his bad showing?
Yes. It is the 3rd of September, ffs. What if Anderson had given in a transfer request after being dropped post-Burnley? Unless there is something going on that we don't know about (which is possible) that shows a scary lack of commitment, determination and bottle, imo.
There's a difference between being dropped, and being made to feel like you were no longer in the manager's plans. If it's the latter, then he made a very wise decision and could possibly be part of 1 or two cup runs with us as opposed to trying to roll a rock up a hill for a year. If he lacked bottle he would've pulled out of that tackle with Pogatetz and would've wanted to leave English football. Instead, he stuck it out, so I won't beat up on him for not wanting to fight for his place when he's not wanted.

...and the 3rd of September is far too early to truly believe you are no longer in the managers plans. Unless something happened/was said between them that we don't know about. If he had stuck around there is nothing to say he would not have been given his chance to impress. Think of Fletcher against Arsenal in 07/08, or Nani last season leading into this one for us. Both looked as good as out of the team when the next window came up, both had hardly been given a look in, but both kept their heads down and didn't say a word... and now both are first XI players for us. That's the mentality I want, not osmebody that runs away at the first sign of adversity or challenge - even Ronaldo for all his ponciness was always up for a challenge and willing to do anything to prove himself.
