Is the location you're referring to the one to the west of the Zoo, immediately west to the Haughville/Little Mexico area? [The rest is assuming we're thinking of the same location.] If you think people might have issues with the area around Kuntz being unsafe, this location would most definitely raise concern. I work near the area and it has a reputation of being crime ridden. If you've ever seen Gran Torino, you get a similar feeling when driving through this area. There is also a perception of a lackadaisical police force (at least in my experience). It took the cops two hours to respond to a stolen motorcycle at my work (why the idiot left the keys in the motorcycle, though, is somewhat of a mystery). One of my coworkers was in a wreck and stuck in her car, but had to wait thirty minutes for police or an ambulance to arrive. Granted, this could mean cheap land and a great location for some "urban renewal" to happen, but even I don't really enjoy the thought of having to walk somewhere in that area after a Saturday night game.
Although, I would love a MLS franchise, if we were awarded one in back in 94 it would have went the way of Tampa Bay Muntiny, Miami, Blast, Twister. I think we would be all disappointed because we would be teamless. I think right now USL or USL2 would be the way to go.
The Central State area has never seemed rough to me. I've played rugby there many times and it seems fine just in a poorer area. It's not like I have felt that my car would get stolen or anything. Of course I haven't seen it at night when it may be much more shady.
My guess is that most people will gather at the Chatham Tap on Mass Ave (which is where I'll be headed). You could also try Brugge Brasserie in Broad Ripple.
cool cool. probably will have to work, but hopefully not. hopefully its on a channel i have so i can at least DVR it
i think that's closer to downtown as well. i was planning on doing 7's over the summer, so i think it'll be at broad ripple park. i'll check out the asylum area soon.
Anybody know when the US plays the last game of the Confederations Cup. I wont be out and about for the game tomorrow seeing that it is in the morning. If the last game is during the weekend and after the time of noon I will be wherever soccer fans are for the game. On a side note. I've been around these boards for a while now but have not been a big poster. That should change this summer I hope
Wow, I thought this thread had died a long time ago...I haven't posted in months but I see there are still football/soccer fans around here. Just a note I thought I would pass along, I emailed Claddagh downtown and asked if they would be showing the US vs. Mexico game on August 12th. The game starts at 4:00 and is only being shown on Telemundo, anyway I got a reply back and the manager said they are looking into it so hopefully we could have a nice gathering there for this important qualifier. Pass the word along and feel free to email them so they know of the interest. Also I plan on heading there for Crew games now as well, I had no idea there was a fan club here. Hopefully I will see some of you soon, take care!
