Hey, Coach Bob Squarepants!

Discussion in 'New York Red Bulls' started by The Ghost of BillR4, Nov 28, 2003.

  1. Will you be finding us some midfielders that can play right and left on the outside? Even that lilly-livered bum Mathis could have scored like Donovan did in the Final, if Mathis had service like that.

By the way, now that the hated beer-bellied, low-life, bad-hair, red-necked Clint is gone what will be your excuse for not winning the League next year? I mean, according to the wisdom of most Metro fans that post here and those big fat arseholes that bait him in the stands, Clint and Clint alone stood in the way or our capturing the Double. He's gone, so what prevents us from taking everything next year?

Even Brian Kelly was better than DiGi and Edgar.

Personally I think we've never been the same since this guy left.

DiGi and Edgar and Kelly and Villegas have all been unable to escape the shadow of his impressive legacy. God, bring back the Metro glory days!!!

That guy will forever be in the history books of the Metro for scoring the first ever goal for the club. BTW, I love those jerseys.

So true, because we all know that Clint makes the same type of runs that Donovan makes, with the same sense of timing and the same speed. When I think of "tireless and meaningful running off the ball" I think of Donovan and Mathis.

You just don't get it, do you?
Clint's runs are so good, no one else on our team can even conceive of making the passes necessary to reach him, much less actually execute those passes. Brilliant, in an avant-garde, 30-years-from-now-we'll-recognize-how-truly-influential-those-runs-were kind of way.

He really is that damn good.

    Uh, when's Lothar coming?

  14. The scary part is that in the past, that is precisely the sort of "fix" that the Metro front office would go looking for. Hopefully, we've outgrown that by now.

The problem with the team did not come down to just one player. Under the circumstances the season was not too bad, given where we were when Coach Bob took over. I still think the problem is in the midfield. Amado did OK but he's one guy and never seemed liked he could routinely connect with anyone. Bradley seems to have found some good upcoming young players, was it too much youth? That's possible, but I'll bet that if we were to trade the likes of Clark, Gaven and Magee, these guys will come back to haunt us. I still think the main problem was on the outside. We really never had much of a threat there.

Excepting Guervarra, the foreign players were a bust across the board. Don't know what the salary cap constraints are, but I have to believe we can do better with our foreign signings and some new midfield help.
