Marks out of 10 for the following if you're kind enough, ladies and gents:

    Foster
    O'Shea
    Brown
    Vidic
    Evra
    Fletcher
    Giggs
    Carrick
    Valencia
    Rooney
    Nani
    Park
    Berbatov

Following on from the last game, where I asked for opinions on whether or not to include subs in overall ratings/monthly ratings, the result was very much split. I'll therefore be presenting two sets of results at the end of each month for player of the month purposes and at the end of the season for player of the year. My own personal preference was for sub ratings to be included but I'll try to cater to all. Peeps can interpret the results any which way they choose.

This is the last game this month so August player of the month marks should be up by Wednesday or Thursday when I'll close this particular thread. Criteria to be in contention for all awards will see a player playing in more than 50% of the games for that month/that season. For player of the month purposes that means:

(at least) 2 games played by a player if we play 3 games in a month,
    3 if we play 4 or 5,
    4 if we play 6 or 7,
    5 if we play 8 or 9.

Regardless of whether or not a player is eligible for this very meaningful award, their average rating will be posted up anyway.

Thanks in advance to those participating. :)

Foster - 7 - Solid performance, kept us in it with his foot save.
    O'Shea - 5 - Not much to note, didn't get forward really.
Brown - 6 - Made a few nice interceptions, and played well enough.
    Vidic - 7 - Immense as usual.
Evra - 8 - Got forward really well, and kept the left side of the pitch lively.
    Fletcher - 9 - Could/Should have capped a wonderful performance with a goal.
Giggs - 5 - Too many misplaced passes. Did set up the goals though.
    Carrick - 4 - Shite.
    Valencia - 4 - Anonymous.
Rooney - 7 - Worked hard, team performance for sure.
Nani - 5 - Sent a few nice balls into the box.
    Park - NA
    Berbatov - NA

Foster-6, had an excellent 2nd half and a momentum changing kick save; very nervous looking in the 1st half however..

O'Shea-6 Played well, but didn't see him do anything that deserved a higher rating

Brown - 6 Same as above

Vidic- 7 I thought Vidic was solid today.

Evra- 7 Played well, and showed a lot of energy and quickness.

Fletcher- 9 Fletch is my MOTM. Relentless energy, going forward and tracking back.

Giggs- 4, you have to push up and support when you are put in the position he was today. Countless posession give aways.

Carrick- 4, Miserable game, and his passing by his standards were well under par.

Valencia- 4, what happened to his speed. He looked so quick in preseason. Gave away posession time and time again.

Rooney- 7 Relentless workrate and energy despite playing by with little to no help up front.

Nani- 6 Had some excellent scoring opportunities, but played okay for the most part.

Park- 6, did his job as sub but had few minutes to earn a better rating

Berbatov-6, I couldn't believe he ran past the defenders on the ball played in by Nani, unfortunately he got the strike all wrong.

Foster - 7 Shaky first half but saved our bacon in the second half.
    O'Shea - 5 Was tormented all game.
    Brown - 4 See above.
Vidic - 7 The only player that held our central defense together.
Evra - 7 Timely interceptions/blocks as well as good forward runs.
    Fletcher - 10 A beast.
Giggs - 4 Bordered on useless.
Carrick -3 Completely invisible. Has no confidence, bottle or belief.
    Valencia - 3 Ineffective.
Rooney - 7 Won us a penalty, carried our attack.
Nani - 7 Nothing special but didn't play too poorly either. Great ball to Berba.
Park - 6 No time to make an impact but didn't do too much wrong either.
Berbatov - 5 Really, really should've at least hit the target.

Foster - 7 Superb save on Van Persie.
O'Shea - 6 Didn't hear or see much of him today; put in a good cross.
Vidic - 8 Took charge of a defence that desperatly needed leadership.
Brown - 6 If not for Evra he would have been rated lower.
Evra - 8 Best player of the season so far.
    Fletcher - 9 MotM
Giggs - 5 Killed several attacks; Had a decent 10-15 minute spell, nothing more.
Carrick - 5 He's supposed to unlock defenses; Got turned inside out by Diaby.
    Valencia - 4 Clichy's back pocket.
Rooney - 7 Well taken penalty; poorly supplied.
Nani - 6 Had some good runs, but didn't do much else.
Park - 6 Pressured well, something that only Fletch was doing before he came on.
Berbatov - 5 Horrible miss. That should be bread and butter for him.

    6 is my average.

Foster - 6 - First class save to keep us in it. Possibly could have saved the goal although it was hit very hard. A bit flappy in the air.

    O'Shea - 5 - made a few errors

Brown - 5 - made a few errors, but to be expected as he often needs consistent PT to improve.

    Vidic - 7 - commanding

Evra - 7 - strong all round performance but left / lost his man a few times

Fletcher - 8 - MOTM. Only just an 8 however. Great energy, physicality. Missed yet another goal he should have scored. On his own is unable to lead CM or pull the rest of the team along with him. Like Evra, he is able to maintain his own level of performance if the rest of the team is tanking.

Giggs - 5 - ordinary first half but improved in the second

Carrick - 4 - shocking first half but improved to some extent in the second

Valencia - 5 - below average all game. Certainly gets stuck in physically when we do not have possession.

    Rooney - 7 - consistent effort.

Nani - 6 - still making some errors, but generally improving

    Park - 6

    Berbatov - 5 - should have scored

Foster - 6 Should have done better on the goal. World-class save on RvP.
    O'Shea - 5 Shaky.
    Brown - 5 See O'Shea.
Vidic - 7 Held defense together.
Evra - 8 Continuous threat; final ball getting better. Solid defensively.
Fletcher - 9 Probably his best performance ever.
Giggs - 4 First half would have been a 2.
Carrick -4 Invisible. Has completely lost his nerve.
    Valencia - 4 Useless.
Rooney - 6 Not his best, but he was very isolated.
    Nani - 6 Decent.
Park - 6 Better than he has been.
Berbatov - 6 Should have scored. Held up decently.

    Valencia - 5
    Nani - 7
    Rooney - 7

    Park - 6
Berbatov - 6 (some are being harsh with the shot, bobbled quite badly just before he hit it)

    Midfield - Must improve.

Foster - 8 he recovered from an early flap or two to make a couple brilliant saves
O'Shea - 5.5 he was all over the place in possession and not terribly efficient in defence
Brown - 5 got a stupid yellow, got done too often and looks short of sharpness, which he is
Vidic - 7.5 not impervious, but our best defender
Evra - 7 worked very very hard, but still managed to switch off on a couple occasions
Fletcher - 8 would have been a 9 if he finished his early chance. Was generally fantastic
Giggs - 3 Shit performance, was involved in both goals other wise he'd have a 1
Carrick - 6 serviceable. Good passing, good shield for the CBs. Organized.
Valencia 5 Poor, predictable but might still have created a goal and worked hard.
Rooney 7.5 loads of work and a well taken and earned pk
Nani - 6 stuck to his guns was involved in several of our better plays

Park 6 not too much to do, but he offered Rooney some support in field and allowed us to hold possession longer as a result.
    Berbatov N/A

Foster-7 To be honest, he could not do much on the goal. He is a reflex goalkeeper and that shot was just too fast for him. In all he was good and made a crucial save.
O'Shea-5.5 very average, nothing spectacular, he did get beat a few times by arshavin on that side but it was expected.
Brown-6 made some crucial interception, could have gotten a 7 but he was a bit sloppy.
Vidic-7 he is our rock at the back no matter what, but should have closed down arshavin on the first goal.
Evra-8 oustanding performance by a player who has been phenomenal this year in every match he played. He battled like a real warrior, makes a huge difference for our side.
Fletcher-9 MOTM for me fletcher is starting to get his recognition as a world class player, he never tires and has a good eye for a pass, a proud performance.
Giggs-4 absolutely disappointing, I wanted to put a 1 but I did not want to be a dick head. He could not handle the pace nor the physicality of the game.
Carrick-5 Also disappointing but he did manage a bit to get it together in the second half with getting a bit physical which is good to see, but this is not the Carrick we know.
Valencia-6 average, made some good moments, very hard working.
Rooney-8 he played really well, he was playing by himself uptop and did not really get the support because of Giggs's abismal display. He worked with what he had...
Nani-6.5 I was going to put a 7 but he missed a sitter. Very good performance from a player that I am expecting a lot from this season. He has brilliant pace and touch along with a great pass to berba. And now getting a bit of confidence and composure.
Park-6 hard working and played simple.
Berbatov-6 played well, should have scored.

EDIT: I did not see or read anyone's posts before I wrote.

    Valencia -- 5
Rooney -- 7, docked a point for constant whining and moaning in 1st half

Using the Teso grading system here...

Foster - 6 - plus 1 for the kick save - I'd give him one more if I was convinced he gloved van Persie's shot onto the crossbar. Couldn't tell for sure. Arshavin's shot was probably to strong for most goalie's to punch.

O'Shea - 6 - given the competition I thought he measured up okay.
Brown - 6 - plus 1 for stepping in to a tough situation.
Vidic - 6 - tough matchups for him.
    Evra - 7 -
Fletcher - 8 - minus 1 for the goal attempt early on.
    Giggs - 4
Carrick - 5 -Although Carrick is taking a lot of stick having him in front of the back four seemed to disrupt the Arsenal attack in conjunction with Fletcher's whirlwind performance.
    Valencia - 4
    Rooney - 6 - more due to the support/setup.
    Nani - 6 -
    Park - 5
    Berbatov - 5

Foster - 6.5 . Stepped in well and put in a good effort, but made me nervous a few times on set pieces when he came out amongst a bunch of players, as well as when the ball was played back to him. Two very good saves v Van Persie though. Did his best on the goal, no one would have stopped that.
    O'Shea - 6
Brown - 6 - Did OK but looked shaky at times.
Vidic - 7 - Good performance, considering he had didnt' have his usual defensive partners in Evans and Rio.
Evra - 7.5 - Another consistent and extremly defensively sounds performance.
Fletcher - 8.5 - Man of the Match. Closed down space and was absoutely every where, was the main reason why Arsenal didn't dominate possession against our midifeld.
Giggs - 4 - Misplaced quite a few passes and messed up a few counter attacks.
    Carrick -4.5 - Pretty quiet
Valencia - 4 - Messed up a few times and was rightfully subed
Rooney - 6.5 - Lack of Service up front but fought few. Always willing to help out the midfield. He started the counter attack that lead to Berbatov's skewed shot.
Nani - 6 - Did OK. Should have had a goal in the closing minutes, brilliant through ball to Berbatov.
    Park - 5 - Wokred Hard.
Berbatov - 5 - Not sure what to say here, he stuffed up a chacne he really should have finished, but created a chance on a plate for Nani. If he and Nani had of converted their goals, everyone would have been giving him and 8

    A few notes:

    - Was noticing that a few people on this boards have been saying that Bebatov slows down Counter's too much, but couldn't help the commentators stating today that our counter's should have been more controlled and slowed down a little, when Giggs rushed them or fluffed. I feel our counters would have been much smoother if Berbatov had of played, but then again, we would have sacraficed that from his lack of deeper, like Giggs did.
    - Carrick probablly was the right choice over Scholes, I feel that Scholes may have been over-run today.
    - Would have like to see Anderson in Giggs position, and in that case I think Valencia would have gottend dropped as Anderson does have a lot more legs in him and can get forward a bit more than Giggs. Maybe next time we will see:

    --------------------Rooney
    -----------------Anderson
    Nani---------------------------------Park
    -------------Fletcher---Carrick

Foster 6: His save did probably won us the game but as a keeper if you get two hands to a ball, you should save it, flapped a corner straight at Arshavin too.
O'Shea 5: Did ok for most part but you can see his inability to keep up with Arshavin's change of pace, Fabio probably could have been trusted for this.
Vidic 6.5: Did ok Vidic, I dont know what Arsenal thought at times when they launched high balls, Van Persie against Vidic in the air is a no brainer, Vidic needed to be the organizer today, he wasnt that.
Brown 5: Getting turned around too easy, Brown as a CB doesnt fill me confidence anymore specially if Rio isnt around.
Evra 6.5: Fine, combines well with Nani.
Valencia 3: Not in the game, you cant beat Clichy in a foot race Antonio, try something else. Also wasnt helped by a non over lapping FB.
2ndly for all his famous tackling, he doesnt have a clue how to track back, look at Nani who is very naive at it but still tried to do double on the winger/FB, Antonio has no idea about it.
Carrick 4: Where is Carrick gone ? Poor, getting turned too easy.
Fletcher 7: His energy is keeping our boat afloat the moment.
Giggs 5 : Meh. Too many attacks died with him, didnt had the energy to match Arsenal players, Anderson probably would have been a better choice.
Nani 5.5: Typical Nani, one moment you are taking Gallas to cleaners, the other dont know what to do when you got to the byline.
His pass to Berba was the best pass of the game but that was a very open game than.
Rooney 6: Wasted as a 9, 2ndly he cant hold the ball as much we like to join him.
Berba 5: Why do your sublime touch lets you done when you are in a dangerous attacking position, haste ?
