The govt. is paying for the BC renovation and will rent out the stadium. The Whitecaps would not be the only team to use it. It would also be used for the CFL team, the Olympics, and for other big events. The govt. wouldn't have an interest in building an SSS and giving control of it over to the MLS team.

Unfortunately, this is true. But I can't think of any other professional sport that is gay friendly. It mentions that there are no openly gay players in the EPL, but there are also no openly gay players in the NBA, NHL, NFL, or MLB that I'm aware of.

A few private investors can get together and build the stadium by the waterfront and leave the BC government totally out of it, to me it makes more sense .

Damn,in the US people already think that soccer is a gay sport anyway, what the hell may be MLS should have a gay night this way makes soccer more friendly to gays.

Kerfoot has been trying for a decade to build a waterfront stadium on land that he owns and MIMBYs have prevented it... on his own dime, even... He then has attempted to trade the land that he owns for some other and this has been held up in red tape that would make the Istanbul of the Byzantine era proud... everybody is in favor, but no one will make the decision...

    ...sad, really...

...and, now backing out of a deal...

might as well be dealing with a banana republic... at least there you know who has to be paid off...

That is some good promo. Use the free ticket to bring various friends to the game and introduce lots of people to MLS. With the atmosphere Houston has, only a true soccer hater would be entertained at a game.
