My mistake. That makes it worse for Jozy if he were to return there, of course, since I don't think he would be able to win against a young Brazilian who was a frequent scorer for Brazil's Sport Club Internacional. I might just be simply showing classic negativity toward a US player's chances of being making it to the highest level. If Jozy becomes one of the most sought after strikers in the world, then these multiple threads will become awesomely funny in retrospect. I thought he was still being hunted by transvestites..... Oh wait. Wrong Ronaldo. Carry on.
Yeah man... what a tease. They showed highlights for all of the Carling Cup matches up until they got to Hull-Southend. And then... no highlight. (Or for any other Carling Cup match after that... guess Hull was the cutoff.) They did mention Jozy though, as have many other media outlets. Currently the fourth article link on CNNSI's soccer page is for Jozy's contribution to Hull-Southend.
At this rate, it's going to be a MISERABLE day for Hull, when they have to ship Jozy back to Spain in May.......
I wonder what the deal is if Hull is relegated. I mean obviously if they go down they aren't going to spend 11m on a player, but they may if they think they can sell him on for a profit. If he were to bag a dozen goals then there is no doubt that other clubs would come in for him. The question is, did Jozy/Villareal put a relegation clause into the buyout clause or could they still buy him if they go down? If they can, could they buy him and sell him on since his registration technically wouldn't change back to Villareal? I assume that the contract is tructured to deal with these issues and I am also pretty sure that Villareal would have a sell-on percentage (as well as RBNY). In any case, they have the purchase option, but can Jozy nix the deal if he can't come to terms with them at that time or did he have to agree to the terms of the purchase clause up front? I'm sure nobody knows the details of this particular deal, but maybe somebody with general knowledge of these types of arrangements could chime in.
I'm sure Jozy would have to agree to terms with Hull city for any transfer to take place, and I would be astonished if he did after they were relegated.
I am not so sure if Hull would "REALLY" got a chance to buy Jozy if he lights up the EPL this season. There's gonna be a bunch of offers for him that would surpass the $11M figure (Man City anone?).
The Front Line Altidore and Fagan lead the line from the off and despite our superiority, they struggled to find any support and didn't get into the game. Altidore was very quiet until he scored. He lashed in a free-kick from 25 yards into the bottom right hand corner. He wasn't involved a great deal in the game but when he was involved, he held the ball up well, looked strong and passed well. His first touch wasn't always as good as it should've been....... -by Rick Skelton / hullcityonline .
Indeed, Jozy's full name is Josmer Volmy Altidore. No, the slang "josmer" is not exactly an English compliment.
Love that line. You could say that about any number of world class strikers from Gerd Muller to Romario to Gabriel Batistuta. He ain't a world class striker yet, and might never be, but...
