Sounds like UVa will be enjoying the turkey today, while WFUs coach looks like a turkey for the pregame comments he made. I'm sure they found their way to the door of the UVa locker room and bus and were definite motivation fodder.

Right you are FritoBancito. The Wake Coach was WAY out of line but looks like he got his.

    On The Game:
Wake had the better of the first half and out shot Virginia but the UVA defense held on to keep WF scoreless. Right before the half Will Hall sent a ball on the ground straight though the Wake defense to find Adam Cristman on the right side. Cristman beat a defender and scored to give the cavs a 1-0 lead. UVA had the better of the play the second half and got on the board again off a great goal by Mike Littlefield. Wake came at the cavs strong but again the Virginia defenders kept them off the board. A close call came when a ball hit the post and Jeff Tuman cleared the ball off the line.

A great outing for the entire UVA squad. Standout performances by Hunter Freeman who stepped into the center back spot for the injured Oliver. Tuman, Johnson and Hartman rounded out the strong backline. Will Hall and Joe Vide were big ball winners in the midfield and combined well on the counters. Littlefield and Cristman both finished on their chances (something that has been lacking for the Cavs). Burke came up with the save when he he was called on.

I've said all year that the Cavs have played good enough to win most if not all of their games but just couldn't finish. Looks like the balls are finally starting to drop for them.

Sammy's thanks for the report. I couldn't make the game because of the holidays. Things sound encouraging for UVa's development. Something I hope that they can build on for the next year.

I had heard from another person that the midfield of WFU had dominated play, but it sounds like you feel like UVa's Hall and Vide had a better time of it. It's good to see those two working together again after some mid-year experimentation. They compliment each other well as Hall get's down and dirty and digs out balls, and Vide has good first touch, quickness and passing skills.
