Liverpool has a very thin squad and their back line looked a bit suspect over the weekend. It would be hard for Taylor to turn down a club like Liverpool and Champions League football. Can blame him at all if he left.
This tidbit from the Skysports Transfer Clockwatch: 09.25 The Mirror also claims that Sol Campbell has been offered a player-coach role by Sven Goran Eriksson at Notts County.
He isn't great but he seems to be a natural leader and shows the team how to play with heart. Right now, in our situation, that is worth more than 6mil.
He was nearly an ever present last season and I don't remember seeing much heart or leadership in the team then. Sell him, get Sol in and buy another CB from a decent Championship side
We needed to do that yesterday to cover for Colo. We're threadbare as it is. The loss of another starter and we'll drop faster than we did last season. Thx, Jay!
Its far more likely £6m for Taylor and no new players in. Other than those that can be picked up on frees or loans. Taylor's wages aren't massive and he gives a shit at least... I agree with Jay, we're threadbare and the Championship season is long. And we always have great luck with injuries don't we? If Taylor goes we're down to about four defenders in the whole squad. I don't expect the Argies to still be here in 11 days time either. Its not even really about the quality of those going (because Colo would be no great miss), its about bodies for a long season with a lot of matches in a physical league where we can probably expect more injuries than normal. Even for us.
Taylor, Coloccini and Jonas are on their way out, apparently. Boo, yay and eh. In that order. Also, Jonas reportedly has interest from Barcelona. Everyone together: HAHAHAHAHANO. Also part 2: Who the f*ck is Solvi Ottesen?
We need some players to come in now. We can't just send out two more central defenders after shipping out Bassong last month.
Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle may try to hold onto Taylor after all. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc...-everton-s-interest-in-taylor-72703-24498586/
It would be a very unwise move to ship off Taylor, for any amount of money. But with that being said, it would be right in line with Cashley and his business model. He operates Newcastle United like George Costanza when he did the opposite of what he thought he should do. In this instance however, there is no hot lady sitting at the bar that loves a 30 something balding man that lives at home with his parents.....and also doesn't have a job.
Question, because I am pleading ignorance when it comes to portions of the English transfer system: If clubs agree on fee but player does not agree to personal terms, is the deal off? And if this is true, couldn't Steven Taylor take this route - if in fact he truly does not want to leave?....
On a side note... As much as Ashley has made a mess of it, the club still is better off than with FFS at the helm because under his deficit spending, Newcastle would have gone into administration and would likely be in League One - just like Dirty Leeds.
I'm not sure about your question, but I believe there is a way for a player to be transfered even if he doesn't want to go. Besides, I highly doubt Tayls would pass up the opportunity to play for Everton in the EPL, even if he does "love Newcastle." Personally, I hope he stays. Due to our cleaning house he has become an essential player. BTW, anyone know anything about this defender from Iceland we're apparently targeting?
Yes I think so and if I recall correctly Hleb refused his transfer to Inter and subsequently dealt to Stuttgart last week. Moyes will put an arm around him, get him to agree to terms and then it will be done.
