Two Real Madrid players could win the FWP this year.

Ronaldo (3 times -1996, 1997, 2002) and Zidane (2 times - 1998,2000) are the only players that have won more than 1 time the award.

This year 142 coaches of men’s national teams have voted in the men’s category.

I hope that Zidane win, but some romours says that Henry could win this year. In my opinion Zidane is the best player, although Ronaldo also have played very good the last 12 months, scoring almost 40 goals and helping the team to win la liga and the intercontinental cup, and he also scored important goals in CL although the team was eliminated in semi-finals.

Man, looking at the word through blanco tinted glasses eh?

Ronaldo and Zidane are great, top-notch players, but they were not last year's top performers. Henry is most definetly one, Pavel nedved should get some recognition, and possibly Chivu, who I think marshalled Ajax on a CL run people thought were unthinkable. He's as good as the great French and Italian defenders of the last decade or so.

I had mixed feelings for Ronaldo last year. The traditional winner in a WC year goes to the top performer at the WC Finals. So Ronaldo should be given the award based on that..... however, he played around 15 games. But I can still accept him as the FIFA player of the year because the WC is so important to soccer. But in this past year, he was clearly not the best player in La Liga, CL or national team action.

Zidane.... liked Ronaldo, in this past year, he was clearly not the best player in La Liga, CL or national team action.

The FIFAS player of the year award is the biggest joke in the awards list. It makes you wonder if these coaches watch the games. Zizu might be the best player on the world, but he did not have his best year last year. Ronnie, played great, but ws he the best? Henry's best performance was in the Confederations cup, please!

Ronaldo did score a lot of goals over the past 12 months, but if the award is based on that, then the winner should be Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who had about 50 goals over the past year.

But I think the award should be given to the player who contributes the most to his team's success.
Henry and Nedved are two players that do this. Henry either scores or assists on the majority of Arsenal's goals, and he has been France's best player, leading them to victory in the Confederations Cup and 13 straight victories, most of which have been very impressive. Nedved has been the best and most inspirational player for Juventus, leading them to the Serie A title and the Champions League final. He also lead the Czech Republic to a great Euro 2004 qualifying campaign.
