West Ham United: Green, Faubert, Upson, Collins, Ilunga, Parker, Noble, Collison, Dyer, Jimenez, Cole Subs: Kurucz, Gabbidon, Spector, Payne, Stanislas, Nouble, Hines Spector starts out on the bench. Per Kumb.com
I am a bit surprised that it is Faubert too. I hope he is on a short rope and Spector is ready when his chance arrives.
Specs has touched the ball 3 times ... and has made 3 errors with it. Get your head in the game, Specs.
3 points for the Hammers. Specs worked through the nerves and played a couple of good balls up to Cole. Looked decent after those first two or three minutes.
Is Illunga a d-mid? If so, minutes for Spector may look better if he is first-choice option as sub on the backline AND d-mid. I wonder if there is chance he will start if Illunga is down for a while. He needs to play more, anywhere...doesn't matter where
did spector slot in at left back? i missed the game entirely. kovac is back with the team, so he'd be first choice sup for d-mid. specs is apparently first choice sup for left and right back (that is of course if he can play well enough to keep it) i still think he'll see more time a RB. faubert isn't good enough to hold down the spot week in and week out-- unless he improves dramatically throughout the season. reports say he was just okay today. i've got no ideas what neill's story is.
Uh? In this thread and the one is US MEN have said something about Mama Specs...did I miss something??
People ahead of Spector on the depth chart have a strange tendency to get injured...we think Spec's Mom is responsible
It's a very long running joke that Spector's mom uses voodoo to make players ahead of Jon get injured so he can get playing time. Of course it sounds weird when you just say it like that.
Not surprisingly Illunga (who was one of our best players last season) and perhaps more surprisingly Faubert had good games at fullback. Faubert has been a bit of a revelation so far, I've been less than impressed with him previously but he's played well in the later pre season games and couldn't really fault him at Wolves. Maybe his unsuccessfull loan at Real Madrid has given him a wake up call. Illunga was very unlucky to be whacked in the air in a slightly mistimed challenge by Foley and left our bloke staggering off the pitch punch drunk. Spector came on at LB and made three howlers straight off but he thankfully sorted himself out and kept it simple for the rest of the game. If nothing else he showed some character. Great goal by Noble and an uncontested header by Upson gave us the win. Wolves had spirit but at this level you must take your chances and they didn't. If they had converted early on it could have been a different resullt. Kovac didn't feature in the squad, maybe he's lacking some fitness. It's looking less likely that Neill will re sign.
Hammerette if Neal comes back I hear Spector is off to Italy or another EPL club have you heard anything in England on that.
All I can say is that there hasn't been any hint of Spector being sold or other clubs wanting him in the UK. I find the Italian link rather random TBH! There are a couple of posters who know Spector so they would know for sure. Here are highlights of the game, complete with cockney commentory http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/3203793/
Fiorentina did in fact make an offer...along with several other PL clubs. WHU have refused every approach thus far.
Thanks very much for that unformation, that was kept under wraps which I'm pleased about. I can't stand transfer business being conducted via the media. I'm assuming you mean actual bids as opposed to clubs making an enquiry. It's very interesting as it says to me we are not in need of a firesale of players because with respect to Spector he would be considered less of a loss than one of our big name players or even worse for me our academy kids. I know that sounds like I'm down on Spector, but I'm not I'm just being honest as a West Ham fan.
