After the game of Sevilla and after a National teams weekend, la liga returns.

We play in Bernabeu against Albacete. Theoretically must be a easy game, but Queiroz only has been able to train yesterday with all the players. These last ten days he only has trained with 5-6 players because the other players were with their NT.

The next 30 days will be a madness, Real Madrid will play 9 games. A game each 3 days. La liga games will be all very dificult games - Osasuna (we usually lose in Pamplona), Atletico Madrid (A classic), Barcelona (other classic), Deportivo (a Modern classic), Mallorca. I hope that Querioz take advantage of that already we are classified for the CL, and he give rest to the important players in the CL (Oporto, Marseille). We also will play a deathmatch against Leganes in the Spain Cup.

For the today game, it seems that Roberto Carlos won't play. He is OK, but Queiroz doesn't want to risk. Raul Bravo will play in his position.

The journalists say that Queiroz have doubts about play with Ruben-Pavon as CB and Helguera- Beckham in the middle, or Pavon-Helgura as CB and Cambiasso- Beckham in the middle. I would choose the second option. We will se which players play this afternoon.

The game will be the 24 consecutive sold out in la liga. For this game the stadium will have a new roof in the east side, with that roof that has cost 9M€ all the stadium will have roof, the zones just near the pich will be the only zones without roof. The stadium will also have new vip zones, with this zones the stadium will have 3000 Vip seats. Now, the capacity of the stadium will be a little more of 80,000 seats.

Valdano that has been in a bed in a hospital the last 11 days, because he eat bad food in the Valladolid 75 aniversary party, could be in the stadium. More than 70 people (journalist, directors, ...) were affected for the bad food, but Valdano had the worse symptoms.

If we win this game we could be in the first position in la liga, because Deportivo tied yesterday against Betis.

The game will be at 7:00 p.m, Central European time.

Finally, RM started to play Portillo and rested their star players.

    Finally is right.

It's just too bad that Queiroz was criticized in the press for the rotation, as well. He'll take flack for any decision he makes, but at least he made the correct one this time.

At least Beckham publicly supported the decision.

I am a fan of at least mild rotations, espcially when a team plays so many matches. Portillo, however, was the worst Madrid player in the pitch yesterday, he was booed when replaced.

A funny note on the game, and to show that Ronnie is not used to being a sub, he banged his head against the roof of the bench when called into the game. Funny as hell.

Albacete played very well, Pirro and Aranda are two young and exciting players, but ince the substitution of Aranda happened, it was all over for Alba. Too much defending and lost.

Borja was non-existent in the first half. Improved in the second. I actually thought he should have given Cambiasso a start. I know he had a long journey but he did not play much. Or when Helguera came on, I thought he would replace Borja, so that we would win more balls in midfield.

Portillo lacked match-fitness.And I am also beginning to doubt his quality. He can't turn a man, he isn't particularly fast or powerful... but you could make the same accusations about raul and he's doing fine, isn't he? :)

But all credit to Queiroz for tryin to rotate the squad. this is the only way we will know if people like POrtillo and Borja can cut the mustard.

I thought Figo had a poor game yesterday, while Zidane had a pedestrian first half and a brilliant second half where he was the greatest threat.

Solari was another player to have an excellent game. I am convinced he should start all home games. On current form he is better than Figo, and he can play in the centre alongside Beckham, on the left with Zidane in the middle, or (I'm sure I'm the only one who thinks so) even on the right. I know he's left-footed but I've seen Solari play on the right and do a good job.

A big disappointment for me yesterday was Raul Bravo. He has speed and he reads the game decently, but is poor in the air. But yesterday, he was also poor at tackling opposing players. He just stands and faces them with poor balance and just keeps backtracking. Because he is standing so square it's easy for them to go past him (it happened twie for two shots on goals), and it makes it harder for him to turn quickly and keep his balance. In case he does tackle it leaves him over-committed and if the tackle fails, the attacker has the time to go past him. So he just stays in front of the attacker and backtracks. Eventually, especially against an Inzaghi or a Ronaldinho, he will either backtrack into the box and give away a penalty, or he will be left behind with a shoulder feint or two. He needs to really take a slightly more side-on position when facing opposing players.

But i was happy with the result. The teams that win a season win it by also winning the games where they are not at their best. Sunday was one of those games.

I read that Figo hurt his ankle in the match. That might be the cause for his sub-par performance.

... and also, when it comes to making an impact and delivering results, I am convinced that Ronaldo is still the best player in the world, the greatest player of the last decade and not Zidane. The guy is a phenomenon.

The starting 11 was a big surprise for the sport journalist in Spain.
Nobody thought that the team would be:

    Casillas
    Salgado, Pavon, Raul Bravo, Solari
    Figo,Beckham, Borja, Zidane
    Portillo, Raul

Many of them that some days before attacked Queiroz because he didn't
give opportunities to the subs, and specially the youth players, now he is attacked by the opposite
. It's very funny. But some of them ,like the director of
    Diario
As, are changing his opinion, and they said that Queiroz was right the
sunday. now the new debate It is that maybe the youth players haven't
enought quality to play in the first team, or still they are not prepared.

Speaking about the game, it wasn't a good game. But like Anirbanblah
said, win this kind of games is very important to win la liga.

In my opinion, the positives things of the game were:

1 -That we win and we are in the 1st position of la liga.

2- The extraordinary first goal of Beckham. A beautiful shot of 25
    meters.

3- The great second half of Zidane.

4- The 30 minutes that played Ronaldo. You could feel the danger every
time that he touch the ball. The team improved when he entered in the field.
At this moment he is essential for the team, as happened the last year
in the second half of the season.

    Negatives things:

1- Portillo played bad. The game was a big opportunity for him and
failed to take advantage of it. He is not a "rookie" like Borja, Ruben or Nuñez. It's
his second year with the team and he must demostrate that he can play in
the first team. And more when he is speaking almost all the weeks that he
    deserve/wants to play more.

2 - He played very bad in the first half. He didn't help Beckham to
create play, nor to destroy play and he failed even easy passes. Well, it is
too soon to value him for only one game, but the sensations weren't
good. Cambiasso must be the second option in that position.

3 - Solari. In attack he played well in the first half, and very
well in the last 30 minutes of the game. But defensive he played bad. The
defense had a big problem in his side all the game. In my opinion he isn't a good
option to replace RC. Against Alba and playing at home he had many
problems, I don't want to think what would have happened playing an away
game and against a big team. I'm happy that Solari played 90 minutes
because it's one of my favourtes players, but it's not his position. The first
option must be Raul Bravo althouth we lose offensive power.

4- Raul isn't playing good. If he don't recover his form we will have a
lot problems in the future. We are surviving this year mainly with the
Ronaldo goals, but Ronaldo won't score goals all the games. If i were Queiroz, i would let RM rest in one of the CL games, we are already classified.

    Nice review MadridForver;

    Becks goal was fantastic.

I don't think Solari can defend at all and thats why Ales in the Sevilla game was so good.

Thebest player in the pitch, imo, was Aranda  he created danger every time he touched the ball and Alab was not the same team once he was taken out. After that you could feel that it was only a matter of time until Madrid would score.

The current Raul, I love. Great in the NT and poor in Madrid. :)
