The problem w/ the Gold Cup wasn't the lack of GA, it was the mix of seating. By the time we marched in with the group it had already turned into quasi-GA so we filled in where we could. The problems started when folks who were not aware what a supporters section is showed up and started demanding their seats (can't blame them, really, since the tickets did not say GA) and those of us already bumped from our seats were left with nowhere to go. Seating has to be GA or assigned, but not both. As long as we know going into Chester then I don't foresee a problem, particularly since we'll have the seats all year.

Had the actual SUPPORTERS gotten assigned seats it wouldn't have mattered. Everyone would have sang and chanted and everything else. The problem was the people who just didn't belong in there at all and just filled space. They became a wall between the actual supports trying to communicate. I got my seats way ahead of time and wanted to be close, but I also stood the entire match, sang, and chanted. The problem was the misplaced fans who thought they were supporters.

SE's are assigned by the group. BB's are GA. I think we can create a wall of noise either way, but prefer assigned because it helps people get to know each other in the section because they see the same faces every week. It will also help us identify exactly who the problems are. Right now, we are still trying to play photo detective to identify someone in our section who wanted to fight someone because of their skin color and who wanted to fight anyone that told him to settle down along with some other assclowns near row 25 who were filled with racial vitriol.

True. I think assigned seats will work just fine in chester because people will have paid good money and know well ahead of time that it's the standing/singing section. It'll also be nice to get familiar with you neighbors in the section. Plus...as of right now you have to be a registered sob.

I think it should be understood in the section, too, that the SoBs may ask people to shift seats around from what their tickets say to help the group. For example, if we decide we need a drum or capo in the front row, or the back row. I don't know how the logistics on that will work, though.

I presume that people knew the sections at the GC game were supporters section, so I expect some people will have a similar attitude in the Union supporters' section despite all the effort the club has made to prevent that. I hope I am wrong.

In terms of GA, versus assigned....one reason I prefer GA is because if a number of people with seats in the front go out of town in a given week there won't be open seats in the front of the secton...otherwise with assigned seats people could be running late and then want thier seat and then it starts to get messy as people shuffle around. I do understand the reasoning for assigned seats when it comes to being able to better police the section. I guess there is a give and a take with assigned seating versus GA

I like the idea of GA quite a lot because I keep thinking some nights I might want to sit right next to Travis. Other nights, his scraggly beard might be blowing in my face and I'll want to sit on the other side of the section.

Also I worry a little about being stuck for a whole season next to someone who can't stand my, er, vivaciousness.

I definitely concur on the GA -- Perhaps if the stadium themselves doesn't make it so, perhaps we as a group can come to some form of equitable arrangement regarding crowding the front row :)

I'm guessing that most of them knew it was a supporters section, but that a sizable percentage didn't really know what that really entailed. We should make sure we're super explicit (and repeatedly so) when signing up people as paid members and that the club is doing the same when selling seats in the section.

Having mostly the same people every game will do a lot to help establish the right atmosphere. But, we should pull out all the stops in terms of organization and recruit people seated at regular and frequent intervals to make sure that area is singing in time with the whole group. A system of signals for each song and readily available song sheets are a must also. I want every person in the section singing at the top of their lungs in complete coordination. It won't happen by itself.

ok, here is a somewhat related question. Was it possible to order tickets to the supporter section without knowing and using the promo code, or was that code only for a discount and anyone could get those seats. There are always a few people who are completely out of their element when in Sam's Army, but there seemed to be more than usual on saturday.

I know for the final in chicago last time around the ONLY way to get supporter's section tickets was through the Fire ticket office by phone. my order went something like this:

them: Hello, chicago fire ticket office.

me: Hi, I'd like to order a ticket for the Gold Cup Final.

them: I'm sorry, but that game is completely sold out.

me: Umm, I need tickets for Sam's Army.

them: OK then, how many do you need?

Lots of people are thinking the same, and plus they're the next cheapest tix. Make sure you got your first payment in early and get tickets first thing when your priority number comes up.

    New Stadium - Supporters Section

I spoke with a sales REp this week. They have more requests than seats for midfield. However, they still do not have 2K requests for the supporters section!

Interesting. I was thinking I might not be able to get in, but it seems I definitely will. Guess I'll stop trying to figure out a plan B.

Re: New Stadium - Supporters Section

Anyone seriously looking to split a season ticket plan with me?

From what i gather VIA MyFace the front office isnt planning on offering partial plans, and i dont want to chance it on individual games...

I am looking for someone(or multiple people) to go in on 2 Supporter Section Seats, and i would want 5-7ish games.

Have any of you taken the virtual tour of the Seattle stadium! All I can say is WOW! If that does not get you excited about soccer nothing will! I have to say I love their stadium and new Red Bulls Stadium! I wish we followed either of those designs. I like the double decker Euro style.

Please forgive me a quick gripe, mostly baseless, but geesh...

A nearly $50 "financing fee" on 2 supporters section tickets, when they are still going to haev all the money 4 months before there's a game in the house...

Who are we The Ticketmaster Union?

Were did you see this? There's nothing on my invoice.

Travis- once you make the seat selection, then you can pay in full.
