Re: Seattle Expansion Draft - What Can Philly Expect in Next Year's Draft I think this a redundant post - please move to the draft section!
Re: Seattle Expansion Draft - What Can Philly Expect in Next Year's Draft Why do I keep getting this thread instead of the "Expansion Draft and Superdraft?" thread? It's like it was half-merged or something. But since the other thread doesn't come up it stays bolded, and it's driving me nuts.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread I don't see why we shouldn't have two different threads...one for the expansion draft and one for the SuperDraft. They are two very different events that occur more than a month apart. What sense does it make to cram it all together in an 800-post thread just because some new posters want to start 10 new threads a day?
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread I see your point but until Expansion Draft unprotected players are announced, it is mostly wide speculation and info gathering. As time nears, we will likely split the theads or start new ones and bury this.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Ah ha! See, it wasn't just me!
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread I think it was an homage.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Fair enough...you're the moderator. I only mention it because I spent time compiling information and links in the MLS SuperDraft thread that gives a quick overview of possible GenAd prospects, recent draft history, etc. It will pretty much be lost in a thread of this size.
Re: Seattle Expansion Draft - What Can Philly Expect in Next Year's Draft Wow, I thought I was insane. Thank you Mark. Really. I thought I was having browser issues or something.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread I guess you could re-post it. Obviously we are aiming for a record post count in this thread.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread what a shame...I guess I'll miss the super draft. 11/26/09 I'll have off from work though because it's Thanksgiving .
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Stupid tax season.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Don't worry, the SuperDraft is in Philly. There will be more than enough SoBs there.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread uh, the expansion draft is on 11-26... thanksgiving day? the sounders draft was on 11-26, a wednesday
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread The last two expansion drafts have been on the Wednesday after the MLS Cup: November 26, 2008 (MLS Cup was on November 23) November 21, 2007 (MLS Cup was on November 18) By that standard, the expansion draft will likely be on the 25th this year.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread MLS Cup is on Sunday, November 22nd. The unprotected players' list is due on Monday the 23rd by 1 PM (?). The expansion draft occurs 2 days later, which would be the 25th (a Wednesday). And NSCAA annual convention logo goodness (since that's when/where the SuperDraft occurs).
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.26.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread ok, yeah that makes. just was confused by the thread title
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.25.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Date changed in thread title, thanks guys.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.25.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Okay, follow me here. I know we all "think" or secretly "want" Bobby "Son of Philly" Convey to return to the Keystone state. We've heard rumors that he signed with SJ this year just so he can be sent to Philly next year. Now with that in mind, doesn't this sound a lot like what Houston and Seattle did with Nate Jaqua? Jaqua was tearing it up in Austria (I kid). Then came back suddenly to MLS and Houston, with a strong rumor that he only came back because Houston secretly promised Seattle they would trade him when the season was over. Lo and behold the 2008 Expansion Draft begins and who does Houston leave unprotected? Who does Seattle pick? Nate Jaqua. Could the Quakes and Union have the same agreement for Bobby Convey? More interesting, if someone can find it, is Jaqua making the same at Seattle now that he was at Houston last year?
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.25.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Uh have you not been reading the boards? A lot of people don't want Convey. I'd be willing to give him a shot, but not at what he makes.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.25.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Did you read my post? Actually, lots of fans want him, but some don't. Either way, it has little bearing on what I was trying to say. I was wondering about the potential back room deal for Convey that SJ and Philly might have done, especially in light of the Nate Jaqua story.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.25.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread You don't need a back room. They probably won't protect him regardless.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.25.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread I'm in the don't want him camp. Let's hope we aren't fooled into taking him because he is local. Now, if he suddenly remembers how to play, and wants 150,000 a year, then I'd consider it.
Re: Official :: Expansion Draft (11.25.09) and SuperDraft (1.14.10) Discussion Thread Speaking of local players not everybody wants to see on the team...what has Jon Conway been up to since he got cut by the Metros?
