I've got a group of 5 or 6 heading down. Anyone else making the trip? Anyone been to Trinidad before and have any advice on the place?
Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? I will probably be going down. Was down there last cycle and also this past year for the semi-finals. Feel free to PM me with any Trinidad questions you have.
Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? I'm going to bump this one up as I'm starting to get interested in a TnT trip as well. Haven't ever been there before.
Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? Thanks for the bump. Right now, I've got 5 guys definite, with at least 2 more probable. I think we're going to spend the first few days (Sat to Tuesday) up closer to the beaches on the north coast. Then on Wednesday, we'll relocate to Port of Spain. I think we might stay at a guest house that a Trinidadian friend of mine put me on to. But I'd really love to hear from people who've been before. What are your thoughts on the place? What were the best beaches? Good bars/restaurants? Places to avoid, etc.
US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix Who is planning on going to the U.S. v T&T match on 9/9/09 in Trinidad? Does anyone have info on tickets? Supporter's section? Good hotels for supporters?
Re: US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix Last time the Fed did not get an allocation. We bought tix the day of the match at the stadium box office. super cheap and no worry of a sellout despite that match being a must-win for them. Also, if you do go, when buying beer, opt for the buckets. As thinwhiteduke will tell you, it's much more economical to buy a bucket (and you get a free bucket/helmet). There is a Courtyard by Marriott right across from the stadium, but it is probably booked by now. Here's a tip. If you arrive at the Port of Spain Airport before 10 am, wait until after 10 am until you try and make your way into the city. Otherwise, you will be stuck in parking lot style traffic for 3+ hours. It sucks.
Re: US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix Great tips - especially on the bucket of beer!!! There was no way I was going to pay the $500 fee to OleOle for one ticket and one night in a hotel. Much appreciated.
Re: US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix i can confirm...buckets of carib at the stadium are the best bet. something like TTD85 and you get the beer and bucket which serves as a carrying case as well as stylish headwear. the trinis will love you for it, hell they will love you anyway. they have a great time all match long. and, yes, traffic from the airport to Port of Spain is hellish in the morning. if you arrive then just grab a drink and wait......
Re: US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix Wow. It's like you have traveled with me before. SOP - traffic or no traffic. So are you and rksegha going to be at this one? Is anyone going? I'd like to meet up with people at the stadium to sit together as I am probably traveling solo.
Re: US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix doesnt look likely that i will make it to this match, but if my schedule opens up well you never know..... ahhh, thanks for reminding me. another thing about the match. there are two ticket types: 1) covered seating (this goes around the midfield on one side of the pitch) or 2) general admission. i believe the reserved, covered seating for the match in the last round of WCQ was TTD600 (about $30-$35) and the general admission was TTD200 (about $12). once you are in the stadium, as long as you stay in the general admission section you can sit anywhere you want. the trinis generally prefer to sit rather than stand.....
Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? Anybody have advice on getting tickets to the game? I contaced Ole Ole -- US Soccer's official travel agency for away matches -- and was told they only sell travel packages. They are unable to sell me game tickets only. Any advice?
Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? I actually just called US Soccer. The T&T Federation has yet to give US Soccer their ticket allocation. So there's nothing available through US Soccer right now. But they hope to have some tickets available in the next couple of weeks. Game is in a month, so hopefully they'll have something soon!
Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? for the WCQ vs T&T last round USSF kept promising an allocation and talking about getting tickets but never did. my advice is to just show up and buy tickets. we did that the day of the match without a problem. if you are worried you can buy in advance from the T&T Football Federation, but we did that and never received the tickets so bought in person at the box office. dont bother with Ole Ole for anything.
Re: US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix I'm going with 5 or 6 others (see this thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1056709) (note to mods: is it possible to merge these two threads?). When in Port-of-Spain, we will likely be staying at a guest house that looks to be walking distance to the stadium (corner of Ariapita and French?). Great information on the beer and the airport traffic. I look forward to rooting on the boys while wearing my beer helmet. Thanks also to the thinwhiteduke for the ticket info in the other thread. I will just buy at the stadium.
Re: US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix @FulhamRev - I am hoping to finalize my plans this weekend. I will hit you up when I am confirmed - just waiting to hear about a job that I might have that week. It would be cool to meet up with all of you and any other Americans going to the match so we can buy tix and sit together in a small but vocal group.
Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? i would hope that USSF would get tix for SC members. If they can get tix for Ole and not for paying fans... everybody that paid should let the fed hear about it.
Re: US v. Trinidad & Tobago - 9/9/09 -Travel/Tix Admin/Mods - can we merge this thread with the other one on this subject? https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1056709 Thanks!

Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? For those of you interested in going, US Soccer just sent out a ticket info for this game to USSC members. Pricey tickets: Covered seats = $80. Uncovered = $50. Deadline for USSC is Thursday. Hopefully, they'll offer tix to non-USSC members after that. (But who knows?)

Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? I thought T&T was one of the poorest places in the world, how are locals going to afford $50.00 or $84.00 for tickets to the match?
Re: Anyone Going to Trinidad? i also am a USSC member and got the email about the tickets. $84 is reasonable; especially considering that there could be more of a group of US fans buying tix that way who have no idea what bigsoccer is. I'd rather order the tickets in advance 'just in case' anything goes wrong. Plus, if T&T win again on 9/5, it could create a buzz and make it a tough ticket. Thoughts?
