They have a new distributor, Latis: http://www.latisimports.com/press-release-latis-imports-gets-rodenbach-portfolio/ Doesn't look like they currently have any Ohio distributors, but I have seen stories about regional distributors announcing deals to extend Rodenbach's availability into states where Latis doesn't distribute directly. In the past, I've found Rodenbach here in Columbus, I think at Whole Foods. Could have been at North Market, though. Great beer. In the interim, you might want to stop by the Surly Girl and see if they have Duchesse de Bourgogne on draft. It's not Rodenbach Grand Cru, but it's a great beer nonetheless. And on draft yet. I've seen it there a few times.
Interesting, I didnt know this... Yea, they used to carry it at Whole Foods and at Andersons - and I would buy 6-8 bottls any time they had it, but alas, the last time I asked they said none of their distributors carried it anymore. Depressing. I'll have to try it out.
Shared a 750 ML at dinner tonight. Very good. I'm not complaining, because I like Belgians, but does anyone else notice that a good Belgian beer has a sort of olive juice taste upon first sip?
Was in Emerald Isle, NC for a few days and the Food Lion had a "make your own 6 pack" shelf so I grabbed a few I had not had before, and 2 I had. Landshark Lager - Not bad, but nothing I would seek out again. Probably. Carolina Blonde - same as Landshark, not bad but nothing to write home about. Kona Island Longboard Lager - Good stuff. I'll drink it again. Shocktop Belgian White - Good stuff. I'd drink it again. Sierra Nevada Summerfest - Really like this one. Had it before and will get it again. Sam Adams Summer Ale - Had this one before and will get it again.
I tried Sam Adam's Blackberry Witbier a few weeks ago. Impressive. Will have to buy it again. Reminds me a bit of that Abita Purple Haze beer, but a bit more flavorful and with a lot more body.
The Rogue Mom Hefeweisen with Coriander & Ginger is very very good . . . especially seems appropriate for the summer. Tried Leffe for the first time this weekend- It was an excellent subtle Beligian. Had a St Bernardus ABT 12 on tap. Dude. Highly recommended.
Yummy. I'm fortunate enough to have a Dogfish Head pub nearby. They don't brew on-site, but it's reasonably fresh.
Really? It's just a continental lager. More flavorful than your average American mega-lager, but not bad, IMHO. Never thought of that beer (or the style) to be malty. I wonder if there were any freshness issues at play. I've always enjoyed 1664 on draft when traveling, though drinking it was never a life-changing experience.
The lighter Pale Lager style just isn't my type of bottom fermented beer. I prefer a little more of a hops ratio flavor that our Czech pilsners have. 1664 is fine, and better than many of the same style, just not one of the types of beer I usually like.
98% belgian ale, 2% cherry Kriek, 9.8% alcohol. This beer reminds me a bit of trapist style, Chimay like beer but with subtle hint of cherry. Never been a fan of Omegang beers but this one was very tasty. Highly suggest trying this one out
My drinks tonight: 16.67% - Two Beers Immersion Amber - Pretty excellent. These guys have taken a huge step up recently. 16.67% - Sierra Nevada Anniversary IPA - Average. The keg may not have been conditioned well 16.67% - Lazy Boy Friesian Pilsner - Too heavy for the style although it wasn't served as cold as it should have been. 49.99% - 21st Amendment Brew Free or Die IPA - Pretty excellent from a can in my refrigerator.
