The same cup that Liverpool, Fulham, Hull etc . won last year. :D

This year it is ALL about the Emirates Cup.
okay... enough low comedy for now.

at Stoneys now and getting a really good vibe from other patrons about Saturday.

Make sure to wear your club jersey, the more diversity the better.
Not everyone can be a Gooner. :D

Just to make sure, I'll have a screen in a corner all to myself Sat morning watching the Rovers-City game right?

(ie - Stoneys has setanta USA, right?)

i wouldnt bet on Stoney's having Setanta.
he wouldnt even open for early for world cup matches in 2006.
i would definitely call to check before you show up.
i go to Catherine Rooney's when i need setanta,
they get a decent crowd for the bigger matches.

Sorry to burst your bubble...But I'd take that bet.

Stoney has had Setanta for months now. As he joined me at my table last night to discuss the finer points of white vs black pudding;), we watched the Faroe Islands vs. France match on Setanta on the big screen that he had dedicated to the channel for the night.

Divot & I were laughing at the "finer" points of Rugby when we were there in advance of The Wheeled Scotsman/ Wil Trippley foundation event in May. It was quite a smile when the ex-pats tried to teach us the game.

But hey, the more places that cater to soccer fans in the area; the better I say.

Rover, I'll be pulling for your boys on Saturday. Don't let the Gooners down:D

Don't pull too hard for us... the list of people out with injury, or questionable via injury for this match would be a formidable Prem team on their own...

    for city:
Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Given, Onuoha, Tevez, Bellamy, Johnson, Kompany

    for Us:
Dunn, Emerton, Grella, Reid, Nelsen, Givet

Its going to be an UGLY match.

Heh, I haven't been back to C.Rooney's since I had to call 911 from there during a rugby game. It was only because one of the older regulars let his oxygen tank run out and fell backwards off his stool, and they gave my wife (who sat w/ the guy) and I a free drink each, but still...

Depends, when are you coming? :p

Since I believe this is the first time they have done it in earnest, I'd recommend calling Thurs or Fri to check in.

What time are people showing up tomorrow?

I will be there when they open at 9:30 am .

Emily will be here running the show as well as the Big Guy himself to get things kicked off for the season.

Looking forward to the breakfast & some pudding. Hope to see quite a few different jerseys represented

I think Stoney was pleased with the results, sounded like he was set on continuing to do this.

However, Other than JT, TommyRo, and Ben, I think the rest of us were disappointed with the results.

I need to challenge Ben to a coffee drinking contest!

No matches/ or early open for Sundays

Remember, this Saturday Premiership opening is new for this year & there are more matches on Saturdays throughout the season. Baby steps.

Some pics I should have had up earlier....

Stoney's "British Fry Up"--the full breakfast option
piled high with ham (Brits call it bacon) eggs, 4 types of sausage/bangers, baked beans, rye toast & I'm sure I'm forgetting a few items.

(goes great with your first Guinness of the day;))

A pic of our motley crew towards the end of the first match. The bar area was taken by all the regulars so we stole a few tables. Frank joined us but had leave a little early, good to see him at his first visit to Stoney's

With ESPN 2 getting the early games, plus FSC & Setanta at 10am, it should be a really fun season.
