Re: Aug. 12 D-Day Lucky's Pub downtown (at the corner of St. Emmanuel and Rusk) across the street from the site of our future Dynamo Stadium will be rockin as early as noon. See y'all there. DALE U.S.A.!!!!
Just an FYI: Watching Direct TV right now, a commercial comes on saying that the USA v Mexico match will be broadcast in English on Mun2 on channel 203 (Directv) for free at 3 PM.
Dish is also showing their Mun2 commercials, channel 838 on Dish Network, but not sure if they will use a different number for the game and preview, but just use the guide and search for soccer games.
BTW, Guardado predicts a 3-0 victory for mexico. This must certainly be confidence and in no way can it be arrogance. Remember the Ala...(oops sorry) World Cup 2002!
Who's the ref in the game tomorrow? I want to know in advance which CONCACAF ref is going to screw the United States to make sure Mexico qualifies. Expect a PK for Mexico and/or a red card on the US in this one and at least one non-call on a US PK earned.
To my boss today: Me: "yesterday I forgot to ask for Wed afternoon for the US vs Mexico game, so can I just say I will have an emergency dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon? Boss: "You would be useless tomorrow anyway so go ahead, leave whenever your tooth starts hurting"
Haha. The ref for the game is Roberto Moreno. He is from Panama. I just hope we can pull it off at the Azteca.
I expect the starting lineup for the USA to be the same as what played against Spain and Brazil at the Confederations Cup with the exception of Bradley in for Feilhaber.
I expect Rico and Ching to start. I don't think we will see Davies until about the 70th minute. Even Mexican legs will get tired at Azteca and Davies is the guy to punish tired legs. He is like Oduro except he can actually do something with the ball after he beats everyone down the field. I'm hoping Holden gets a chance. I doubt any of our forwards will go the whole 90. So Davies will come in, and either Donovan or Dempsey will move to the front. That makes room for either Holden or Feilhaber. Whoever Bradley feels like putting in.
Concacaf initially appointed Joel Aguilar, a Salvadoran, to be the referee for this game. Aguilar was the referee for that Mexico x Panama game in the Gold Cup at Reliant in which he ejected Mexico's coach Javier Aguirre after the sideline incident between Aguirre and the Panamanian player. Aguilar was replaced by Moreno late last week. No explanations were given, as these types of changes aren't usually explained. This article from La Prensa Gráfica in El Salvador says that the Mexican media pressured Concacaf to change referees: Joel no le pitará a los mexicanos.
