Do you mean, in Brazil this year as a whole, or in Brazilian Championship only?

per tournament, I don't think their's any prize for the whole year except perhaps for a magazine award.

At the moment (after today's round) the leader of Dimba of Goiás with 30 goals (breaking the previous record of 29).

Renaldo, from Paraná Clube. He made 30 goals this season in the Brazilian Championship. Dimba ended up with 31 goals.

I haven't been keeping up with Cruzeiro too well over the break. What is your opinion on how they will be able to balance the challenge of defending their Brasileirao and trying for the Libertadores, with respect to size of squad and rotating players (i.e. will a couple of injuries kill you)?

Also, why did you get rid of Ariztazabal and who is filling his shoes? Will Rivaldo play up top ever?

    Thanks

    Cruzeiro 2004

O Treinador e bom e ele nao precisa jogar tudo tempo. Eu acho que ele deveria jogar bem.

    boa sorte

    Rivaldo with Cruzeiro

How has Rivaldo been doing with Cruzeiro? I have only seen 2 games in Libertadores (Caracas & Santos Laguna) and have not been impressed -- though I must note that it seems like Alex doesn't want to pass to Rivaldo. Bobagem minha?

    crisis in Cruzeiro

There seems to be a big crisis going on in Cruzeiro. First Luxemburgo was sacked, now the TV news says that Rivaldo is leaving the club.

Just imagine if Atletico trashes Cruzeiro in today's derby. Then, tomorrow the "Fox's Den"(hows that for a translation? hehe) will be a barren wasteland.

Cruzeiro should have adopted the same policy as Santos did when they won in 2002. Instead, they replaced too many players. And, of course, Rivaldo was a mistake from the get go.

I just hope TV shows the match today, but living near the Minas/Rio border we never know which game will get televised.

    Cruzeiro

Now we can say Cruzeiro is finally over. Without Luxemburgo, plus the fact that the club is not paying the players, I wouldnt be surprised if Alex leave cruzeiro too. Is a common team again. Now the fight is only between Sao Paulo and Santos.

I also wonder why Cruzeiro let Arisitizábal go, after all he's one of the key players of last year's campaign. I doubt that Coritiba where he's now covered any salary that Cruzeiro is able to pay him.

Frank Cunha, before you start a thread on a specific Brazilian club, please check if there's already a previous one. It saves me the merging work. Thanks.

    Cruzeiro Esporte Clube

About time a Cruzeiro thread is open.

Zeiro has won it's 33rd state championship, this time over a very talented Ipatinga, a team that got praise from people like Zico and Junior for the skill and organization they have shown.

With the win, Cruzeiro has moved into 5th place on the ranking of most successful brasilian club in history (according to Placar's ranking last updated in Febuary 2006).

As it stands now the list is:

    1. São Paulo 327pts
    2. Flamengo 318
    3. Santos 312(if Santos wins the campeonato paulista, they will move into a second place tie with Flamengo)
    4. Palmeiras 309
    5. Cruzeiro 283
    6. Gremio 282
    7. Corinthians 279
    8. Vasco 254
    9. Fluminense 219
    10. Internacional 205
    Atletico-MG 181

The points system is as follows :

Mundial da FIFA e Mundial Interclubes 25pts
Copa Libertadores e Torneio Sul-Americano dos Campeões 20pts
    Campeonato Brasileiro e Robertão 15pts
Copa Do Brasil e Taça Brasil 12pts
Copa Mercosul, Supercopa da Libertadores e Copa Sul-Americana 10pts
    Copa Conmebol 7pts
    Campeonatos Paulista e Carioca 6pts
Torneio Rio-São Paulo, Campeonato Mineiro e Gaúcho, Copa Sul, Sul-Minas,Centro-Oeste,Noredeste e Norte-Nordeste*,Campeonato do Nordeste e Copa dos Campeões 4pts
Campeonatos Paranaense, Baiano, Pernambucano e Série B 3pts
Campeonatos Catarinense, Cearense, Goiano, Paraense e Copa Norte 2pts
    Demais Estaduais e Série C 1pt
    *disputado entre 1968 e 1970

Cruzeiro's trophy cabinet currently looks like this:

    2 Libertadores (1976 e 97)
    1 Brasileiro (2003)
    4 Copas do Brasil (1993,96,2000,03)
    1 Taça Brasil (1966)
    2 Supercopas da Libertadores (1991 e 92)
    2 Copas Sul-Minas (2001 e 02)
    1 Copa Centro-Oeste (1999)
    33 Estaduais (1926,28,29,30,40,43,44,45,56,59,60,61,65,66,67,68,69,72,73,74,75,77,84,87,90,92,94,96,97,98,2003,04 e 06)
    1 Supercampeonato Mineiro (2002)

In PLACAR'S ranking they made a mistake and did not include Cruzeiro's state championship in 1926 which is even included in Cruzeiros section in placar's website: http://placar.abril.com.br/novo/includes/clubes/cruzeiro/
I added that one to the point total, If you take that away, Cruzeiro is in 6th place tied with Corinthians.

Any questions about where your team ranks, feel free to ask.

Congratulations to Cruzeiro Campeão Mineiro!!!!!!!!!!!!
