Anybody else see him in his #10 Chicago Fire Blanco Jersey?

On Fox Football Phone In a called in and asked "In my opinion dont you think Mexico has a lot more attacking options as like in creative players than the US because they have Dos santos, Vela, Torrado, Bravo, Guardado... ETC."

    To which Wynalda responded:
"I actually think you are right to a certain extent, in this particular game that is about to happen is going to be fun for the Mexican public. They are going to get to watch this one and celebrate it. Because it is going to be one of those things where we can't chase them and the attack is going to happen and our guys are going to be in trouble" he then proceded to say when asked to predict the score "I'll go conservative 2-0 loss. I hope we get one if we get one I will feel good about it." Then asked about the jersey he was wearing(a #10 Chicago Fire Blanco Jersey) he said "Hey this is my boy"

Maybe it's just me but this got under my skin a little bit. I never really thought a player who played for our National team and would understand the rivalry would actually have the nerve to don a Blanco jersey.

I think it's obvious he's turned against the USMNT after he started talking sh!t, and then Landon responded.

Do people really care what Wynalda thinks?

By the way.......he's right. Mexico has a ton of attacking options that they didn't have for the Columbus game. We could easily lose the game 2-0. That's an OK opinion to have. I prefer to be more optimistic though.

And people need to stop with all the jingoism BS. This is a sport. It's soccer. If a guy thinks Mexico is going to win.........that's not being unpatriotic.

Two things: He's doing this to stir things up and getting people to talk about the match or he can't handle the fact that the US will win in Azteca without him on the pitch.

For a knowledgeable guy I think he sure is stupid. I'm not seeing the super advantage for Mexico in this match.

I don't care about the fact that he's pessimistic. For a guy who has over 100 caps with the US, it sure takes a lot of balls to put on a Blanco jersey prior to a game like this....

My thought exactly. A Blanco jersey really? You would think if anybody he would be the last person to do this after playing in and experiencing the rivalry. Then to call Blanco "my boy" I mean come on.

I think that Wynalda is a better analyst than people give him credit for. I'd prefer him over Harkes, Lalas, Balboa, Sullivan any day of the week.

As far as the Blanco jersey, don't forget that he played for the Fire and remains a fan.

If I'm a Dallas Maverick fan and wear a Dirk jersey, it doesn't mean I'm cheering for the German National Team to beat the Redeem team in the Olympics.

I understand what you are staying but to be real the US Mens Basketball team really doesn't have a real rival. But I take the the US vs Mexico jersey mix-up as serious if not more than some of these for example-a Yankees fan wearing a Red Sox jersey, A Michigan fan wearing Ohio State Colors, Duke fan wearing a Carolina Jersey... ETC

He's still doing a good job. I'm glad Fox put him on TV.

    Great show, much better, imho.

It does if the game is in two days.

And also, you never played in over 100 games for the redeem team. So your point is pretty much moot.

This was my first time watching FFF. Is it always this awful? Maybe Harkes isn't so bad. Wynalda said and I'm paraphrasing here Landon should start certain games and come off the bench against big and strong opposition
I usually like Eric but c'mon Landon needs to play each and every game

Anyway some other things he said which some may or may not agree with

Believes Dempsey is Americas best player.

In his opinion Ching,Holden and Perkins were the best players at the Gold Cup

Seems pessimistic about the US chances in Mexico predicted a 2-0 loss would be happy if the US scores a goal.

That's different. USA men's basketball team is a joke. NBA is where it's at. USA men's soccer team? It's the pinnacle of the sport in this country. And Mexico is our biggest rival.

This isn't lost on Wynalda. Wynalda did this for no other reason than to provoke a reaction. One of Eric's great skill sets is provoking a reaction. Reaction = eyeballs. That's all this is.

Hey, Eric, the team has moved on. They are better than back in your day. It's true. I'd like to hear your commentary without the provocative crap. You actually have some insightful things to say. But if your overlords require that you stoop to the level of sideshow, shame, but so be it.

This would be inconcievable in England.....be like Alan Shearer wearing an Argentina or Germany shirt in a TV studio.....Early onset alsheimers is the only answer.

I got the impression that Wynalda's pessimism stems from his own failure to produce in Azteca. An "If couldn't do it, no one can" mentality, perhaps.

Given the way things have been going for the US squad, even pessimists wouldn't dismiss the possibility of the game ending in a draw.

It's not like Wynalda is a rocket scientist to begin with.

If it was a Mexico jersey, I might be a little upset if I saw it.

It was a Chicago Fire jersey. Blanco is arguably Chicago's best player, and Wyanlda is a former player on that team. No big deal.

Let's not turn this into the Nurenburg trials.

I can see the "I played for this club I am a fan just showing support" But the fact he chose to do this two days before a big rivalry game wearing a rival players jersey on television and then proceeding to say our biggest rival would beat us and one of their players is "his boy" just seems to be in poor taste to me.

Oh please, the yankees red sox thing is pathetic in the extreme and so is getting bent about Wynalda wearing a Blanco shirt. Next you'll say I have to stop wearing my "I Love your Vagina" shirt to WPS games. Pffft.

He's entertaining at least. Would have loved a Wynalda and Cohen show. That would have been great.

He also went on to say that he thought USA was the better team, just giving green midgets the advantage because of the venue.... he kind of downplayed the importance of the match if anything..

    Not really.

He wore a Fire jersey. Wynalda played for the Fire. The Fire play in Chicago. In Illinois. In the United States.

    Blanco plays for the Fire.

Good for Wynalda to stir the pot a bit.
