I remember a few years ago folowing discussions about him at Villareal and then the New England Revolution. I searched the internet the other day to see if I could find any information on the kid since he had left New England and found nothing. Does anybody have any information on what he is up to or where he has been? Is he even in consideration for this upcoming u20? Any information would be much appreciated.

Back in April he said he had some options but there hasn't been any news.

He had a few callups to USA U20 camps last year but Rongen hasn't called him in a long time. There aren't any camps until the final roster selection is made. It's safe to say he's not going to make the team.

This is why MLS needs Youth Developmental Teams/Spots, Not a Youth player but not quite a First Team Contributor. No player with his potential should be left in limbo like this.

I can't disagree with you...............but I also have no idea how much "potential" he has.

That seems ridiculous. Good luck to him and I hope he makes the team but if he really were to make the reserves realistically what would his chances of ever playing a first team match be? As to what SUDano said I really do not know how much "potential" the kid actually has.

He might not have a chance to play first team ball at City but one loan move or pretty much any move to another club could offer him that shot. Nothing wrong with just training for the next few years with the youth/reserves and then moving on to another club.

Man City already passed on Brian when he trialed with thm last year (he ended up signing with NE instead).

I don't doubt that he could be in England (makes sense)........but doubt very much that Man City is interested. What do we think? They missed out on Kaka, so they want to sign an almost 20 year old MLS reject with one professional appearance? Who are they going to sign next? Johann Smith? Brandon's not even making our U-20 world cup team, which I think is one of the weakest U-20 teams we've had in a while.

I've seen absolutely no source for this Man City "trial," and trust me..........our usual YA sources would be all over it. It the trial is at Mansfield I'd believe it, but not Man City. I want Manzo to succeed as much as everybody..........but there are some things that are realistic...........and some that aren't. We should all be able to sniff out nonsense rumors at this point.

    Yes, Anton Peterline Agrees.

And it might not be a definite trial.........it could be him just Trainning in open trainnig sessions.............we will see what happens...........doubt he gets picked up but he has been their before so maybe they see something.

Everton signed Peterlin on a one-year deal to play with the reserves. Why? Because they're not sure how good he is, and they can cut him instantly. I watched him last year...........and didn't think he was the best player at San Luis Obispo. It was the strangest transfer I've ever seen as a US soccer fan. Cody Arnoux made more sense to me.

Sorry to be all negative..........but Anton Peterlin will never see the field for Everton...........and will never wear a USMNT jersey. Especially since he wants to play for Denmark.

Why do you go from thread to thread ridiculing US players? No matter which thread I read, there is you demeaning an American player. Give it a rest.

If someone repeatedly says something that is false, I'm going to keep coming on here to tell them they're wrong. There is a zero percent chance Brandon Manzonelli is "trialing" at Man City. I've seen him with my own eyes on multiple occasions. If they're letting him train on their grass while they're out of town......then I'll believe it.

And if you go over to the YA forums you'll see that I say a lot of good things about our players. On the USMNT boards people have a tendency to say wildly inaccurate things.............and post blatantly incorrect "facts."........and I feel the need to tell them.

My favorite is the Vincenzo Bernardo thread. Where I get to read all of this fantastic hype about a 20 year that can't even make Napoli's reserve team. That guy will be working at Dunkin' Donuts in two years, and yet his agent (yes his agent) comes on to post about how great he is..........and that the US better call him up............or we'll lose him to Italy. Yeah right. Shaking in my boots.

    Amen.

"Clint" even says in an ADU YA thread that he hopes Adu and Bernardo fail.

In a sport in which so few succeed, it doesn't take a big man to bet on failure and moreover to be impressed with himself when he is right.

You misread my comments on the Adu thread. I said I want Bernardo to fail (for reasons I've stated above) and another poster said he wanted Adu to fail (because he wants to witness the meltdown). And I said I felt guilty about wanting Bernardo to fail, but it doesn't change the fact that I do.

This is a freaking soccer message board. Don't take it so seriously.

And yet you want a naive kid with an overbearing agent to fail in his life's goal, simply because he disappointed you by not living up to his agent's hype. Maybe you should heed your own advice. This is coming from someone who finds Rosa's hype of Bernardo deeply annoying, but never would I want him to fail.

I don't want any American player to fail simply because I think we need all the good players we can get.

BUT Bernardo has to be my least favorite American player at any level right now. I find it pretty insulting as a fan for a USA player to have these manufactured press pieces that overinflate his ability and threaten to switch national affiliations to Italy if he doesn't make the USA U20 team (even by claiming Italy is interested). That's bull$hit and it shows no respect for our shirt or program. He seems very insecure in letting his play on the field do the talking and instead wants to use his ability to switch national teams as a way to threaten his way onto the roster. It is also lame how there is always constant blame on someone else for reasons why he isn't playing.

It would be nice if he turns into a good player because we need good players but even if he does, it'll take me a long time to warm up to him.

    Yes, you've nailed it :)

I admit I took my anger a little overboard there about Bernardo. Has nothing to do with this thread. BShredder did a better job of saying why I'm pissed about him.......than I did.

Now back to Manzonelli. In my newfound optimism.........I expect his imminent signing by Manchester City..........

I don't see how bshredder's comments were in any way out of line. But hey, you got your little 4Chan-style Dave Chapelle post in, and that's all that counts, right? :)

I don't think he is trailing with City. He went to an "open training" session for fans. I think he may be headed to Italy. It would make most sense. Isn't he somehow eligiable for an italian passport? I think Italy have some weird rules inorder to get one. Cervi's took so long because they wanted him to learn Italian. I think they prefer the ones who want an italian passport to actually play in Italy for a while.

In an interview from a few months ago he said he had opportunities in England and Italy. Italy would make the most sense especially if he doesn't have his passport or is still in the process of getting one. Being almost 20, he'll need it to sign in England.

Do you have a link for this?* Or is that just your inference?

*besides his Cal Poly bio page where he says "I am Danish and proud of it"...which I place on an evidentiary par with reports suggesting that I am leaning towards playing for Ireland because I was spotted in Target wearing my "Fight Me, I'm Irish" t-shirt.
