==quick question... I have tickets in section 222 for the Beckham game- I believe its a 2pm start... Does this section face into the sun, or will the sun be behind us or coming from the side? When i watch on TV, which end do the supporters sit ? (N, E, S, W) It looks to the 'left' when watching on TV. Is the camera side the press box side? =How long a drive from San Antonio or Austin? =Is Galveston worth a visit? Fasinated by hurricanes... What's good, what's not. =In Houston, some folks mentioned the Galleria area. Is that a mall, or office building area> Hotels, restaurants or all the above = Can you get into either the Astrodome, Reliant or Rice Stadiums? Tours or otherwise? =From a local soccer history stand point, any other local stadiums worth a visit that may have hosted teams in all the past leagues we have had in this country? = Thanks for any info and see you in October Just for clarification, can't stand the Beckham circus and the sooner he leaves the better. Have always enjoyed the way Houston plays the game and even with D'ro missing, you guys haven't missed a beat. I am in Houston visting my daughter who actually works for Texas State University in San Marcos (GO BOBCATS !) She has always played soccer and we agreed on the Oct 18 game.. Just getting ideas ... thanks
Here's the seating chart for Robertson: Your seats will be facing the sun. As you can see from the map, the SGs are on both the South and North ends. TA and the Pulse are on the South end. EB is on the North end. Yes, the camera angle for most TV games is from the West end, which you can also see on the map. It's a couple of hours from Austin or San Antonio, depending on how fast you drive, traffic, and where in Houston you're going. Not sure about Galveston as far as hurricane stuff goes. They do have a number of other attractions (Moody Gardens, Bishop's Palace, etc.). The Galleria area is a shopping, business, and residential district. If you like shopping, the Galleria mall is where many visitors go. If you're not into shopping, there's also the Water Wall, on Post Oak and Hidalgo, which is, at best, marginally interesting. I work in this area and traffic is horrible, so be warned. If you're familiar with LA, you know the drill. They have tours at Reliant Park, which includes Reliant Stadium and the Astrodome. I'm not sure if they have tours of the Dome anymore, but Reliant Stadium is an interesting venue if you like visiting stadiums. If you want to visit Rice Stadium, you can often just wander in. The gates on the southweast side are often open. I'm not sure if they do tours, but I doubt it. If you don't draw much attention to yourself, you can probably wander around. I also like visiting stadiums, so I can understand why you may want to visit it. It has some history and is an example of an older stadium style that we'll probably not see much in the future. The whole thing was built in nine months in 1950 and has only recently received a desperately-needed major renovation. There are more major renovations on the way in 2010, so this is probably the last year to see it in all of its 1950 personality. Also, some of Houston's most interesting architecture is on campus, if you like that sort of thing. Rice is next door to the Rice Village district, which is a shopping and entertainment area with lots of restaurants and bars. Most of the interesting bars are along Morningside, just north of University Blvd. I recommend the Village over the Galleria for restaurants. Space Center Houston (NASA) and the San Jacinto Battlefield sites are also interesting places to visit in the Houston area.
August is almost over. August 26, 2009: CONCACAF Champions' League, Round 2, Dynamo @ Arabe Unido. Still no live TV coverage for this game. It looks like you are on your own to find an internet feed to watch this one but there should be radio coverage on 790 AM. Sunday, 8/30/09 - Dynamo @ Colorado Rapids: TA viewing party at the Mezz. Game time is 2:00 pm.
Sorry if this post is in the wrong place, but we're avoided all news today (ack, twitter withdrawls!) so we can watch this tonight. Is there a watch party at the Mezz tonight?
yeah, but most everyone who will be there followed the game on the radio last night, so you won't be avoiding spoilers, most likely...
I figured as much, I'll be the girl walking around with my fingers in my ears saying "nah nah,....not listening!" Mostly we just want to watch the game

I think the Astrodome is off limits due to City ordnance violations-the last heard was that no one was allowed in. Definitely take the Minute Maid Park tour-I took some friends from Boston on it-great tour, they take you everywhere from the bullpens to Mclane's box. Worth the cash and if you can do it during the day on a Friday, it's usually pretty open and not crowded. Plus Union Station is always open even if you don't the tour. If you are the smart cultural type-there's plenty of museums and stuff but the most unique historical/cultural attraction that no one has heard of is that-Chinese forbidden city replica out in Katy. Heck I don't even know if it's still open.

Got 4 from Louisiana coming for the first time. I'm assuming we don't have to stay in assigned seating, and that it will be a decent crowd in the supporters section.
