Any thoughts why Higuain didn't play? sry if it was mentioned earlier. NVM

BTW Frank we had the exact same thoughts about Lass I bet. I'm very glad we got him, he's a beast. I would love to see him play alongside M. Diarra.

That's what amazes me the most, his long passing ability.

^^^Benz played the whole game so I can see Higuain starting against DC.

Well I just think it's a bit unfair to say he's done nothing good with the ball the entire match. I've seen great decision making on his part for the two assists he gave.

Good game, it shows that the team has no problem in an open game. I'm getting worried with Higuain's situation but I won't panic yet. I only wish we won't see any "sell Higuain" heading in Marca in the close future.

LOL Higuain to city next season, mark ma w0Rdz!!!

Seriously, understand that we're playing two games within very little recovery time. Benzema played the whole game so I see it difficult for him to play let alone start the next game against DC. Same goes for Lass.
BTW, kaka looked like he really wanted to play.

This game has us right where we want it team-recovery wise.

Casillas in goal. (Dudek should be fired for his eccentricity)
All of the defenders are fresh.
The midfielders only played about a half each, minus Guti and Lass. This will give Alonso a chance to play, with more focus on Granero and Sneijder.
The forwards should be relative fresh, Higuain and Negredo, who didn't play much and was still dangerous.

It was more a critic to Marca flip flopping and pulling stories out of their ass than hypothesising Higuain's future. And about the other point last season I always tought "Well surely Higuain and Huntelaar will have a chance to play together without Raul, after all Raul can't start all games he surely will be rested" so I really don't trust my common sense anymore :p

(Note: He was rested one game before the CL and I think that was it)

    - Great game by Raul.....It's looking clearer and clearer that he will be an undisputed started up front.....I guess the improvement in quality around him has taken pressure off him and he looks to be a lot more relaxed in this play...

    - Benzema is playing really well....great build up plays and i didnt realize he had an eye for that final pass...

    - we need to see Higuain play for an hour next game!!

    - Cr9 is getting more comfortable...it's beginning to show

    - our back 4 isn't stable enough yet....some miscommunication going on at times

    - Drenthe is actually looking better.....some good build up play on the left......the kid has so much speed....if he develops.......

I hope xabi alonso and higuain start next game!

    Nice game by the team.

Drenthe did look fine but we have to see if he can act the same against tougher opponents.

After seeing the practice and the game...I think it's evident that Pelligrini has Drenthe pegged as a LB and is his own little pet project.

You gotta walk before you run. If we can be upbeat about the team effort in this game, we should be upbeat about Drenthe's effort in particular.

He's just a kid that needs extensive coaching and direction. Some young players figure it all out by themselves (see Higuain), and some need more help and time. Schuster was terrible at this aspect of coaching, and Ramos only had 6 months to try to fix 18 months of misdirection. Pellegrini has obviously seen something in him, and he's seen something in Pellegrini. I for one am glad.

great game. guti was actually hustling for a change.

i liked what i saw from albiol thus far. he and pepe could create a fine partnership.

kaka...wow, unlucky not to score at least once, but surely the opportunities will be coming. that man is going to provide some beautiful football for madrid no doubt.

loved, LOVED the play between ronaldo and benzema to set up that 2nd goal :D more of that please!

oh and espn, please shut up about barca, don't care how they subbed all 11 for the second half, k thanks.

edit: almost forgot, best part of the night. i know it may not seem funny to some but negredo ball to face was just pure lol's. i bet he gets some jokes about it from the guys afterwards :)

4 real. Horsie never gives us pics, so we're kind of starved over here.

Why don't join join the Real supporters, since you love Ronaldo and all.

Well back from the match, it was pretty awesome. Really surreal seeing them all out at BMO. Atmosphere was interesting in the stadium. Not like a typical TFC match because of tons of Madrid fans there.

The team definitely looked a lot more comfortable than in the previous pre-season matches. Nice to see the rest of the new signings finally play. Ronaldo definitely is finding his feet. Such a polarizing figure though, I couldn't believe some of the hate expressed by the people around me, yet at the same time he was drawing the biggest cheers.

I am curious to see what happens at LB. I can't see Drenthe being more than a backup and I wonder how Arbeloa will be on the left or if Marcelo is ready. My guess is it will be Arbeloa, but from talking to Liverpool supporters, they said he barely played there while at Liverpool.

After the third goal of the first half, Real Madrid took it down a couple notches and then revved it back up once subs came in and once TFC scored their lone goal.

Kaka there is not much to say, it was his first half of the pre-season, but he was running hard and he tracks back so that is good. The timing with the other players will come.

I can't wait to see that first half lineup but with Xabi instead of Guti, Ramos instead of Arbeloa, and Pepe instead of Metz.

Weird that Higuain didn't play, but maybe he will play the full 90 on Sunday.

All in all it was fantastic, a dream come true, and now I have to figure out how to afford to come to Spain to watch a competitive match at the Bernabeu.

Negredo really displayed all aspects of his game today except his finishing. He showed some very nice skills, the flick, dribbles to the line, crosses and superb strength over the ball. We should definitely look to keep him and have Raul, Higuain, Benzema as the other strikers. That should do us very well over the course of this season.
