Is he staying at the Hotel Del Prin? Just tell him no Americans will be celebrating at the Independence Column after the match.
I unfortuantely won't be on this trip but I have been to Yuppies before. Just as other have said it's just like a applebee's or chili's or something. FYI- if you are trying to ask someone for directions, it is pronounced You-ppies, instead of yup-pies. Give em hell boys!
if u want cheap beer go to a Modelorama outlet ..... one Corona beer $7 pesos , and the donkey show or monkey knife figth go to a damn circus jerk !!
Yuppies makes sense because it is close to where most people are staying and it is spacious and accommodating. I would recommend people start there just to do a little socializing, especially if this will be your first time in DF. We can move on from there. There are lots of places in Condesa, which is southwest of the Zona Rosa.
Totally agree. I think its fair to say Yuppies is not where you want to spend the night but seeing as no-one has been able to offer a viable alternative I think this makes sense for an initial meeting spot. I'm personally going to knock one or two back and then cab it to Condesa with a few of my peeps
Hey! well... I might not be a bar, but I'm a fan! Some friends and I are US soccer fans living in Mexico city... it's a long story, but hey, would it be ok if we join you guys @ Yuppies? it would be really cool to meet some fans... we do have school Wednesday, but hey... this is once in a lifetime xperience!! hahaha
You are German and a US Soccer fan? Here is your test - was that a handball on Torsten Frings in the Quarterfinal of the World Cup in 2002? If you answer yes, you are one of us and you are invited!
HAHAHA! The answer is YES, and it was an automatic red card and PK! But seriously, K_13, of course you are welcome as well as anyone else.
I bring that up whenever I meet a German who says they are a futbol fan. It goes the other way and Greg Berhalter is a hero for life. Of course, Kahn might have saved Landon's PK. Good subject for conversation over tequilas and Modelos at Yuppies next Tuesday.
Hey just curious are you a true German from Germany? How long have you lived in Mexico City for? I am A Mexican American I am a fan of El Tri I will be flying to Mexico City for this game I will be landing Tuesday about 12:30pm Mexico City time Mexicana Airlines from LAX, do you know of any good pubs at a safe location near La Reforma that sell good German or Belgium beer because I have been to other vacation spots in Mexico and have tasted all the Mexican beer. If you know any spots let me know and if you and other people would like to meet up thats even cool too I'll buy you a cold brew. But come game time it will be a whole different scene on Wednsday in the Azteca! Cheers!
neee... I'm pretty Mexican!! rooting hard for die Mannschaft! there are couple of pubs called "Irish Pub", "Celtics" or "King's Pub"... the typical English Pub, but they have beer from pretty much all over the world and it's not THAT expensive... you all guys are staying downtown or what we call "centro" (or "zentrum" for the german speakers!), that's a little bit far from the azteca... make sure you ask in your hotel the safest way of transportation!!
if you are near Zocalo, you dont need a cab , just walk to the Zocalo station ( this station is part of the line 2 ) , but if you are not near Zocalo , the cab will cost you around 70 pesos ( 6 dolars ) ... kind of ,, but if you have time , I would recommend you take a cab to Insurgentes Av ( the most large avenue in the world ) take the Metrobus until Perisur station ( in the way you will see the Olimpic stadium ( house of the Pumas de la UNAM ) you can stop there and take some pics ... well once you are in perisur station go to the mall nearby and take a cab to the Azteca ( 5 minues by car from there ) .... FYI USNT will be concetrade in the Radisson Hotel ( in front of Perisur mall ) that´s a nice ride !!
A friend and I will be staying in Condesa. We do not arrive until 7 pm Tuesday so will probably miss the Yuppies group but will be out in Condesa area --possibly Celtics.
