I've decided that my hatred of Guevara is mostly as a soccer fan generally, not specifically as a Revs fan. Esky can take his place as I'd forgotten about him, also at 17.

Ante Razov, however, remains the crust on a 3-week old turd.

It's been a long time, but I really liked watching Alberto Naveda and Edwin Gorter.

Seriously. Seeing McBride put on a Fire jersey is like discovering Santa Claus is a pedophile.

For this enlightened statement you may deduct one birthday candle from today's birthday cake.

BTW, don't forget you get a birthday day for every decade of this incarnation so Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday and Happy Birthday

    What, would that mean Okaroh?

I noticed he's absent from "heroes" lists, by the way. He seemed well liked as a Rev.

Tangetially: no mention of Revs that barely performed as Revs, but ended up being Rev killers later: Pareja? Wolyniec?

And, the one guy that made Revs fans "hate" lists that ended up playing for the team: Harkes.

    Sorry...rambling...it's early and I've got a doctor's appointment.

Nah, he would be an exception to the rule. Besides, he only wound up there because of wRongen's stupidty (he thought they'd more likely take Paul Keegan), and the Fire were more "Expansion trowrugs-turned underdog" than the epitome of evil thiuggery that they are now. I dunno about you, but I bet 99.99% of MLS fans outside of DC wanted them to win the final in 1998.

Yeah, that's always tricky... Rule of thumb is that they are scum before they joined the Revs, all is forgiven and they are great guys wehn they are in our colors, and then they revert to being even worse scum when they leave.

Actually, I kinda liked Harkes when he was here. I used to speak with him all the time and we did a lengthy sit-down interview at Bad Abbots in Quincy once. He does a great "Big Ron" Atkinson impersonation. Similar with Waldo--he was an interesting guy, and anyone who remembers him on TV, he isn't afraid to say what he thinks. This is a huge contrast to the measured, bland, guarded cliche-ridden responses too many athletes serve up. Agree or not, I like talking to someone with a little personality!

One of my favorite Revs ever was Lionel Alvarez - he just brought so much poise and class to his position. And, he's the only one who had that level of calm in the middle of the field until Shalrie came along.

I'd put Dan Calichman on my "heroes" list too, even if he were only here for a short time late in his career. He's one guy that I really wish we had gotten a few years earlier (Gorter would be another).

Great toughness, leadership and smarts in the center of the d.

Thinking back to the era reminded me of one Jim Rooney. Did any rev ever have such a rapid fall from grace. His first year with us he was a pretty good player, then next he was useless. But, I guess there were a few others - Alex Pineda Chacon comes to mind.

Brian Kamler was probably our best left midfielder ever. Good all-around player, hard working, his first touch wasn't the worst either.

 Ummm... Ever hear of Ted Chronopoulos? I refuse to sit here and let anyone say that Kamler was better than Teddy. Kamler was a really nice guy and a good MLS left mid, but he was no Teddy.

I may be a little late for our appointment. I have another electroshock treatment patient I need to slip in ahead of you.

I'll say it, and I liked Chronopoulos a lot. :) Hard to compare objectively, as Kamler had the benefit of playing for better teams than Teddy (post 2002 revs & late 90s DC United). But Kamler lasted nearly 5 years longer in an improving MLS than Teddy did, and they are the same age. BTW, I do think Teddy holds a more esteemed place in Revs history than Kamler, but that's a different set of criteria.

The fact that people remember Chrono as a star says a lot about how far this league has come.

I think Chrono was somewhat talented, but pretty erratic for most of his career and then when he started to pull it all together, he become pretty injury-prone.

My opinion is basically that he was somewhat promising but never really put it all together consistently.
