I don't think we are disagreeing. Monaco = Bad situation and they want to find a better one this time around. I was only saying the poster who represented his position as looking for a guarantee was projecting much more than was in the article, and he should be looking for team where he, the he that he is *now* is wanted.
Macheda is Italian. His ability to transfer within the EU is governed by EU employement laws, not FIFA transfer laws.
I saw this too and this makes it pretty clear that Freddy is not in their plans in the near future(no way Freddy would get any minutes over Keirrison). Therefore I hope he is loaned or sold to a lower level club where he can be a feature player and play a full 90 minutes regularly. Since he is only 20 he could play at a smaller club 2 to 3 years and still move on to a larger club and have a very successful career.
I just noticed how stacked Benfica have become eek, there is no hope of Freddy getting any playing time in the near future and he needs to gtfo of there, asap!
From the tweeter, Adu says he hopes to stay. "training with benfica tomorrow. Im excited and cant wait to start training. Im not 100% if im staying or not. I want to but u never know."
Well, at least its a step [or half a step...] in the right direction. He needs to be on a pitch, getting in team work.
Freddy can't want to possibly stay. It makes no sense. Either he is being good soldier to get a move or he is in for the money. But he can't want to possibly be the 5th option at his position (and miss pre-season, and try to work his way out of that hole). There is virtually no chance of him playing at Benfica this year- a WC year. He has every incentive to move- except for the money.
It's going to be reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally tough to get playing time. Javier Saviola, Keirrison, Nuno Gomes, Weldon, Mantorras, Óscar Cardozo at the forward position...................means he ain't getting any playing time there. I'm a HUGE fan of Keirrison. What a great pickup by Benfica. I guess his chance would be in the midfield, where they have a little less depth. You know what's funny I just looked at the Benfica site on wikipedia..........and he's not even listed on their roster. He's listed in a special category called "unresolved cases," with guys like Makukula. It doesn't mean anything at all, but I found that kind of silly.
Well that's a worse sign than wikipedia But Freddy said he was going to train there, so he's at least getting the opportunity to impress. That's straight from the horse's mouth. Unless he shows up for "training," and it's instructions on how to work the fry-o-lator in the club lunch-room. (Unneccesarily mean for no apparent reason )
This was Goff, just a day ago: After last season's bench-sitting experience with Monaco, another loan needs to be with a club "that is going to play him. The [Monaco] situation cannot happen again. It was not good for Freddy. It has to be the right situation," a source close to Adu said. The Washington Post THESE TWO STATEMENTS ARE DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED!!!! LET'S FACE PEOPLE, THERE ARE GAMES GOING ON HERE THAT NO ONE IS PRIVVY TO. WHATEVER ADU SAYS PUBLICLY IS TOTAL BULL*HIT UNTIL SOMETHING DEFINITIVE GOES DOWN.
Adu is not a forward, only Bob the moron thinks he is.Adu is a CAM or Support Striker..that said, I hope he doesn't stay and moves to a "lesser" club so he has a better chance to get minutes. He needs to play.
If this is in fact how Adu feels, he should have never taken the gold cup call up and should have reported immediately after the Confeds cup.
I know Freddy is out of form and out of fashion, but what gives? The guy was a contributor when he first went to Portugal two years ago. And at that point he was 18 years old. Now he can't even get picked up on a loan. Just don't understand exactly how this went so wrong so fast.
A lot. Things that we do know: 1) Victim of 3 coaching changes in his first year at the club. 2) Went to the Olympics and missed mid season preparation (under a new coach) 3) Went on loan to a club where the coach DID NOT want him Things we don't know about (rumors). 1) Has attitude problems 2) Lazy in trainings/practices
its called 'i want to make a million dollars a year, and have 3 years left on a deal that let's me do so' Of course, Freddy can get a loan to a club in a decent/good league. Freddy just doesn't want to take a pay cut. Benfica doesn't want to eat the salary for a player off their books. (which is what a loan club will want them to do) The potential loan club doesn't want to pay hundreds of k salary for a player they don't own, is 19, somewhat unproven, and (given Freddy's stated price to date) won't possibly be able to buy. Benfica figures that if they treat him like garbage, he'll walk away from his contract. Benfica figure that any kid like Fred will just take the salary hit and move on. Benfica can still sell him for $1-$2m or $3m Freddy figures..... if he acts like he won't walk away....Benfica will know he is serious about playing this out over 1-2-3 years, and they might as well eat some salary to get him off the books asap. Its cat-n-mouse, with really 2 losers here...both Freddy + Benfica. Who will blink, or who can compromise? Stay tuned. BTW- Freddy's 'price' may be a big sticking point (why no loans). It may just be that there are clubs interested in a loan...but since Freddy's price is so high (according to Freddy) that they don't want a loan player they can't possibly buy.
I'm not really sure how that has anything to do with anything. 1) Many players got extra rest after the Confed Cup, so they might not have wanted him. 2) After just two games in the Gold Cup, he was released to come back. Some point after that, Benfica had him not report. #2 is the mystery... supercooper: all possible, even probable, but you have no proof
I was expecting him to come and train with the rest of the players who aren't part of the plans for this season but I've heard he trained with the squad (althought I don't know if it was just him or if everyone trained together).
It seems pretty obvious that Freddy shouldn't have gone to the Confed Cup either, since all he got from the experience is a nice tour of the hotels and soccer stadiums in South Africa, and possibly some bonding with the people who actually did play in that tournament. Just doesn't seem worth it -- to mess up the start of another season for that. As far as the money goes...I believe the part about Benfica and Freddy's agent playing financial chicken. Last year, maybe they picked Monaco because it was the most english-speaking area they could find who would meet the salary and was of a reasonably high level.
