I adopted the Crew as my team to support back in 2007, since they were the closest in proximity to me (Lexington, KY) and I supported them from afar. This weekend I finally was able to come up for my first game. I brought the family up and we had an absolute blast at the TFC game. We sat in 102 right next to the Nordecke and I, my wife and my kids (7 and 4, BTW) loved it! Curse words? That guy in the Dispatch was upset over that? Sure there was "YSA" and a few "mofos" flying here and there, but the kids didn't really notice. In fact, my 7-year-old daughter really got into the songs and was chanting "CO-LUM-BUS!" with her hands in the air. She even started saying "YOU SUCK.." and then asked us what that last word was. The Nordecke was truly massive, and the game itself was fantastic. Even though Rogers, Marshall and Guille weren't playing, it did not subtract from our enjoyment of the game one bit. What a finish for your first game! I've read in the past that some called CCS "a glorified high school stadium." I've been to almost all the giant SEC football stadiums, and I really like Crew Stadium. It's a really nice, intimate stadium, much better than has been portrayed. I thought it balanced the families and the hardcore rather well. My wife, who hates going to those marathon football and basketball games, said she wants to come to another Crew game, and you have two new young Crew supporters. Thanks for a great time! equus Pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/settingthetable/ColumbusCrew
Welcome aboard bud, well repped! By the way I adore your website, I hit that thing up everyweek. Keep up the good work.
Cool pictures. Yea I can't wait to make it out for my first game. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Assmann. The true origin of YSA was our July 2008 friendly against Argentine side Independiente and their keeper Fabian Assmann. At least that's the story I keep telling my 8yr old who thoroughly enjoyed the Independiente game.
You picked a great first match to attend! I'm happy you guys enjoyed yourselves. It's always great to have Crew fans from outside the city and state. Come back again!
More fans from Kentucky!? Massive! Hey Equus. I live in Berea, Kentucky so i'm glad you decided to make it to a game for the first time. You couldn't have picked a better game i don't think. It has to be one of my favorite regular season games i'v watched since i started going to games in 07. I hope you make it up for more games this year.
Come up for more games and join us, you and your kids will have the cheers down by halftime Glad to see some positive news not this Ray Stein bullshit.
