Please don't come around here and sell tickets for more than you paid for them. This isn't the place for that and you aren't helping anybody by doing that. I'm sure any of us can find a scalper if we really want to.

Just got my ticket! For a whopping 16 dollars!

    GENNTE G9 50

Need to roll up with a big group of USA Fans, and be ushered to the US Supporters section. Should we meet outside the Azteca stadium metro one hour before the match?

Also, anyone staying at La Catedral Hostel?

I'm at the Hostel Catedral and with our squad of 1st Minnesota Volunteers, we will probably plan to be at the stadium around two hours before game time. Still working out the logistication.

    Peace and futbol.

Well Sir, since I had to cross border, have a friend by them for me and and waited in border line for 2 hours to come back, I think it seems fair. So, I will "come aroud" where and when I want to son! And actually, I am helping someone by doing this...Giving the difference to the person that got them for me so I am sure a trustworthy scalper in Mexico City should do people well. ;)

Scalpers or price-gaugers should get a family-sized case of the SIDA.

The people who went in 2001 and 2005 are stating this will happen.

Um... I was there in 2005. I know people with non-away fan tickets who sat in other parts of the stadium. They were not escorted to the USA fan section. (For what it's worth, they were treated well and had a good time.)

I hope you are right. I hope you will put with other USA fans. But I wouldn't could on it. I keep warning you guys -- not to be contrarian -- but because I'm worried about you guys and your expectations for the match.

Ask yourselves, if there is all this extra space in the USA fan area, why isn't US Soccer (or Ole Ole) selling all those tickets.

Again, good luck. Hope to see there.

Isn't the top section General Admission? So couldn't you just get there early and go over to the south end?

To everyone flying out of Mexico do we need documentation before we head out?

State Department requirements on travel to Mexico

I thought you needed a passport now for air travel, but it's not clear to me from the below:

    Found at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html

From what I understand, technically you don't need a passport to enter Mexico (just your birth certificate, and govt. issued photo id), but to reenter the US you will need a passport. So you will need a passport to make the trip. Because of the poor economy and the slowdown in international travel, the passport offices are overstaffed thus non-expedited passport renewals are only taking about 10 working days to process these days.

Update from Adam Spangler (http://www.thisisamericansoccer.com/us-mens-national-team/azteca-in-august/#comment-16505), who has been communicating with US Soccer:

So I must have been wrong about being in the lower deck? We'll see. In 2001 and 2005, we were escorted directly to our sections on the lower deck via dedicated entrances. There are three friggen decks in that place; getting a big group to the top will be a challenge.

In a way, I am starting to like the way this big CF is turning out, because it ensures there will be a little chaos and insanity added to what is already going to be an incredible day.

According to the Mexican consular services, you are exactly correct:

These are the other options, from my post upstream from yours:

o Trusted Traveler Cards (NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST)
o State Issued Enhanced Driver’s License (when available)
o Enhanced Tribal Cards (when available)
o U.S. Military Identification with Military Travel Orders
o U.S. Merchant Mariner Document when traveling in conjunction with official maritime business
o Native American Tribal Photo Identification Card
o Form I-872 American Indian Card

Most of us don't have one of these or it's not applicable in this case, so most of us will need a passport. Sounds like there's still time to get one, although I'd jump right on it if I didn't already have one.

Sometimes when people travel to Mexico or Canada, they get one of those sleek new "Passport cards." It's easier to carry around. Only works in those two countries I believe.

So we're going all the way to Azteca to support our team and they won't even know we're there!!! This is unbelievable. I've never heard of this crap of an away support being hidden/banished in the nose bleed section before! This is SERIOUSLY pissing me off. I want to be part of a large, loud and rowdy group but I'm sorely tempted to scalp some tkts for the lower bowl when I get there. I want to feel the atmosphere of Azteca and the boys running over to our section when the final whistle blows for a 2-0 US victory otherwise seriously - what's the ********ing point!!!

I guess you've never been to San Siro, or the Amsterdam Arena. Away supporters are kept in the upper levels there as well. I suspect the move to the upper deck could at the request of the US embassy, and even US Soccer. Keep in mind that it's not only Big Soccer fanatics that are going to be making the trip and sitting/standing in the section. There's also family members of the players, donors to the the Soccer foundation, fans who get tickets via the federation sponsors, embassy staff, and expats living in Mexico. Not all these folks want to get objects throw at them for two hours. I personally don't mind, for me it's all part of the "experience". But I doubt most people feel the same way.

After thinking about it I think it's a good idea. I am really bummed about the horrible view but as long as we're all in one group we can make the best of it.
