Really? I say, really? They have it completely backward. The clash with the fans was BECAUSE his long-term future in MLS is in doubt. Stupid newspapers. Is the Daily Mail one of those British rags with dubious 'reporting'?
David Beckham intends to stay at LA Galaxy beyond the 2010 World Cup -- Telegraph.co.uk I tend to agree with the Telegraph's writers' take on the long-term prospects for Beckham's relationship with MLS.
Do they have any other kind? Sounders FC hopes to keep Open Cup streak alive at Starfire (Seattle Times) First graf: Qwest field is majestic now? Holy cow, they've co-opted the local media, too.
Well, remember, ultimately the comparison is with the grey pimple known as the Kingdome. Qwest is a fantastic stadium with a fantastic view of downtown Seattle. It's not majestic like Mt Rainier is majestic, but it is everything the Kingdome wasn't.

Here's another video, where it clearly shows beckham wants to shake the guy's hand.. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYZk75mJ_wc"]YouTube - Beckham Confronts LA Riot at AC Milan vs LA Galaxy Game[/ame]
right, it's relatively easy to offer to shake a heckler's hand as/once that heckler is being detained and removed from the stadium by security. Beckham is actually quite good at controlling the/his message and brand here. and to me, one of the most amusing parts is the fan in the ACM jersey (the guy who wasn't even involved in the discussions/actions but had field-level access) slapped (at) Beckham's hand twice (to little effect).
totally disagree - he only "offered to shake the guy's hand" once the dude was tackled by security... kinda late for that

unable to shake hands with his LARS fans (and/or enemies), Beckham resorts to blowing kisses. what a gentleman. oh, and nice finish and celebratory front flip for Bryan Jordan.
You're NOT suppose to jump the wall, that's why the security tackled his ass. You paid for the ticket to sit in the stands. This is how I look at this point, the fans are pissed off and took their anger and blame for the clubs continued lack of success on David Beckham. I blame the up coming WC Beckham wants play for his country and the coach wants him to stay fit by playing at ACM. I have to admit. The team played a great soccer match against ACM. LA Galaxy looks very good as of late.
This is great spectacle. Beckham/LARS was the top story on the front page of the New York Times sports page today.
As late Ron Newman once said “Any news about soccer is good, even if it's bad, unless there's a killing involved” ...
we have no idea what Capello wants (but I can guess it doesn't really have much to do with ACM). Beckham says "playing European level football" (in the run-up to the WC) is what Capello wants. (but Capello has called up Beckham previously while Beckham was playing for the Galaxy.) what Beckham wants is six more months enjoying Serie A football and the city of Milan away from his family (it would seem). and yes he also desperately wants to play at WC2010. but I suspect (and I could be way off-base here) that Beckham could get a 10-week loan from Jan to mid-March 2010 to any quality UEFA club that wants him (to stay match fit and in Capello's plans) and then still return for the start of the 2010 MLS season and still get called to the England team for the WC and fill that role of effective sub that he has been playing for England recently. I think it would be quite interesting if MLS opts to manage the Beckham loan requests differently in 2010 than they did in 2009. (or they could have already accepted the fact that they'll agree to another six-month loan to keep Beckham happy. or there could be some other outcome which hasn't been mentioned yet.)

Who were those fools that thought Beckham was not going to help raise the awareness of MLS/soccer in America?
the guy shouldnt of jumped, but beckham shouldnt have incited the fan to do so.. did beckham have authority to invite the guy onto the field? i mean, cmon, likely not - but is he blameless for doing so nonetheless ...
This is a joke, right? I'll bet you think Beckham was just trying to buy an ice cream cone for Diego Simeone back in '98, too... *slaps head*
