Isn't this one of the greatest shows ever? Yes it got kinda lame at the end, but I don't think any comedy sitcom/show has never equaled its popularity and ratings. Ever.

    What does everyone here think?

P.S. Is there ever going to be a DVD colelction for this show? Is really unbelievable thatthey haven't yet.

Ratings are skewed nowadays.......so many channels...

But, I do agree that the Cosby show has to be considered one of the greatest sitcoms of all time...
I like the fact that they made a show starring a black family a non issue....apart from the occassional 'special episode' I don't remember them dealing with race specific situations...just family situations...and that was nice to see.

    OH
Is this some kind of weird troll?

The Cosby Show was utter crap, especially after the first season, when Bill ran out of material. After that, they pretty much just paraded Rudy around and held up "Cheer Loudly!" signs to their studio audience. Basically, "Full House" stuff. And when Rudy got too old, didn't they introduce some new cute little kid to take that role?

    The show sucked massively.

The new kid was Olivia(aka Raven Simone). I liked the show but I was also like 5 years old, so everything seemed cool to me. I can still watch it tho on reruns or whatever, but I dont think its as entertaining as when I was smaller.

Most of my friends fancied 'Denise' (?) but she had too many issues for me.
Now, Mrs Huxtable on the other hand...........

Bill as a father was outstanding....... I watched some reruns and I have to say that his character really did keep the same high level of wit throughout the years. Wish I could say the same about everybody else.

I enjoyed The Cosby Show. However its spinoff "A Different World" completely sucked and so did his next show "Cosby".

    Hmmm....
Thread starter supports Bayern Munich, and likes the Cosby Show to a level unheard of by today's standards.

Those Germans, great cars but attrocious sense in what makes good entertainment.

I'm not German, just like FCB.
I actually live in New Yoek.
    So Shut.Up.

I'm not trying to raise any controversy so if you disagree, go to another thread.

lol, hours after I start this thread, I happen to find Phylicia Rashad walking the streets of Manhattan.

I watch the Cosby Show every night to fall asleep too. I just love it. A great show with no violence, or much of any sexual nature, just a great family comedy.

Yes, it was from 1996-2000 and it saved CBS's monday night lineup.
Personally, i think this was funnier than CS. You can find it every day at 1 on TBS, 1:30 and 2 the Cosby Show is on.

BTW, does anyone know how to get ratings from that time? I can't find them anywhere, not from Nielsen or futoncritic, or everywhere i searched.

And a teutonic sense of humour to boot.

Calm down chap. Not wise to get angry over Cosby in any of his guises.

I sort of liked the Cosby Show, but it ran for sooooo long and people just kept turning up and being mixed into the cast. How old must Cliff's dad have been when Cliff was born?? 3 or 4 I'm guessing.
The there were the sisters that came and went. But it was the 'lesson' at the end of the episode that used to make me turn over, even from a young age. It was like an acted out version of Jerry's final thoughts.

I liked Different World but then that suffered from going on too long aswell. And how the hell did that Whitley (or whatever it was she was called) get a place at University, a half decent one at that?

Cosby was just awful. Like the Cosby show just slightly different but by no means enough.
How the hell did it manage to last 4 years?

BTW, a disclaimer: I was young and impressionable whilst watching these transmissions, they were watchable at the time, but now they just make me cringe by and large.

    Them's the times I'm afraid.
