I know others have said it but I didn't say it was spite or indifference, I said he lost focus and got frustrated with those around him. I've seen him get frustated during England/United games, but his body language has never shown irritation with a fellow player like it has at the Galaxy.

That's because those players were his peers and wouldn't have taken it. Regardless of ability, whether he likes it or not, the LAG players are also his peers.

    You make a good point.

My only response is that he had never played with players outside of his league (EPL, Europe, LaLiga) before. Chris Klein stated that Beckham didn't understand the average American player's experience. So he wasn't really on the same page with the majority of his teammates. Beckham is also, by his own admission, extremely competitive and has had issues controlling his emotions and 'getting into a red haze' on the pitch that none of his managers have ever been able to drum out of him. (His words, not mine.)

Imagine for one second that in some bizarro alternate universe Roy Keane had ended up captaining the 2008 Galaxy team. I think lives might have been lost.

You're right. I remember him having a borderline tantrum one game, because Mike Randolph repeatedly chose to pass the ball three yards to his nearest team-mate instead of risking the 30-yard crossfield ball to a totally unmarked Beckham.

Just before leaving for Celtic, Keano actually ate four of our reserves. We assembled a new player from the left-over body parts and named him "Manucho".

Heh! Maybe SAF would trade Manucho to the Galaxy for Kirovski. Arena should look into it. :)

I seem to remember Ely Allen causing Becks to sh*t a meat cleaver a time or two. Good times. Someone should put together a youtube retrospective: Becks slowly going insane.

    On second thought....no....just no....

Okay..can anyone tell me what was being said by the "fan" that has angered Becks so much that he went to the stand and shout back at him during halftime? The last time Beckham did this - responding to fans' criticism - was when they wish his son dead of cancer and call Posh as a slut/whore.

So what has angered him so much? I'm sure it must has crossed the line.

The only time I've ever seen him react was during a Leeds/Manure game when the Kop sang the "Posh Spice is a slapper, she wears a massive jewel, and when she's shagging Beckham, she thinks of Harry Kewell" song, and he just waved it away. It must have been the 'fraud' thing, and rightly so.

I was actually refering to him making the F**k sign to a section of fans after the lost of England v Portugal in Euro 2000 qualifier.

And in this game, according to the media reports, the Galaxy fan/s was shouting something at him, so he went to their section and motion for the guy to come over or something like that, than the fan jumped down onto the field and being carried away by security. So..is there anyone knows what's being said?

So..apparently the fan had indeed crossed his line in his hate chants..

LA Times' reporter, Helena something, even said the fans were making horrible remarks about his family.

If that's the case, I won't blame Becks even a bit.

I wonder what the Milan players made of all this? Bet it really makes some of them want to play in the MLS at some point eh

This really is damaging. Doing this to your own player is just stupid.

He is there now, and wants to play for your club. The AC Milan thing is obviously what he was going to choose, being they are one of the worlds great clubs and he will prob do the same next year as he wants to play in the WC in 2010 and he has been told to play in Europe to achieve this by the national team coach, can you blame the lad? I would do the same in his position. He is trying to balance this whole deal out.

:D Bollocks was he wanting to shake the guys hand!!

Beckham was ready to do a Cantona.

I think Becks should do what the Galaxy bedsheet writing bumchums want and leave.

Mr A: says some mean things about Mr. B
Mr B: Challenges Mr.B to a fist fight.
Mr A: obliges and then gets arrested for doing what he was asked to do by Mr. B
Mr B: tells everyone that he didnt challenge Mr A to a fight, only to hand shake competition.

Off topic: Mr. B makes $42,000,000 a year
    Mr.A makes $42,000 a year.

Yet, for some reason everyone thinks ... Mr.A is Mr Ass*0le

I am telling you this is a big win for MLS. They have hit every major website and newspaper this morning. I know this doesn't look good but any publicity is good publicity. I think the English are probably thinking this is pretty funny right now that anyone would call out Becks.

I bet Landon is wanting to get in a turtle shell right now. He is that at least highlighted what Beckham did to this team.

It will be very interesting to see what Team Beckham will do about this one. Maybe they can get Roger Clemens' PR firm to help them out with this one since Roger is held is such "high esteem" now. You got to love the American fan.

He should just make up some bollocks about seagulls following trawlers and this will soon be just memory.

He wasn't arrested. He was kicked out of the stadium and given a trespassing ticket, I believe. Nothing more.

It's pretty clear from your posts that you don't blame Beckham for anything no matter what happens.

That's fine. That's what being a Beckham fan is all about.

However, there is no justification for Beckham's actions last night. The club needs to fine him.

Are you being serious? Players want to play where the fans are passionate and care about the team. The message that was LOUD and CLEAR from the Riot Squad was that they want ONLY players that WANT to be here.

Beckham now knows EXACTLY what the fan base in LA thinks of him.

Reports are that Posh is in London looking for schools for the Spice Kids: http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8695_5441283,00.html

Look, I don't like the guy as a person, I find his ACM adventure and the way Tim L. and the the Commissioner handled it ridiculous, absurd etc..
That said DB deserved to be boooood big time and he got just that.
His stupidity showed again (making lots of money does not make you a smart person!) when he came back on the field and started hugging a bunch of ACM players...the idiot could have waited with that untill after the game.

His corner/fan reaction was plain stupid, you don't "invite" someone on the filed knowing full well the fan will get arrested.

Now let's get on with life and see what DB can do....just remember that corner kick to Bryan and the first goal's pass to Donovan (then on to Gordon)

In short, use him.....then loose him!:)

Are the Galaxy getting more attention in LA now that Becky is back?

I saw the great free kick by Beckham and all the controversy of his fan encounters so I was wondering are the Galaxy getting more attention in LA or being ignored as usual?

I say ignored since on the ESPN show before PTI an LA sportswriter was saying nobody cared that Beckham was coming back and no one was talking about it but rather they were talking about the Dodgers and some stupid basketball offseason crap.

But that was BEFORE Beckham came so I'm wondering has it changed now?

Re: Are the Galaxy getting more attention in LA now that Becky is back?

    Depends on where you look.

If you are talking about the LA Times as LA's "paper of record," than the sportswriter was right: this is a Lakers/Dodgers town and they get 90% of the press. Then USC football comes into season and they take up a good chunk of the sports pages.

And I'm not saying that's wrong: the LAT probably has a pretty good idea of what its readers are mostly interested in.

There is some Beckham coverage and the LARS/Beckham flack was covered. But there is nothing like the daily drumbeat that comes out of the Dodgers/Lakers.

That's why a lot of those of us who are interested end up here!
